We were 5 people-- ages 10, 13, and 3 adults . Everyone successfully finished a beautiful project. The staff provided just the right amount of help. The museum tour --which was included-- was unexpectedly interesting to all of us. Highly recommended.

What a wonderful experience

Reviewed by: Dianne, 2019/11/22

What a wonderful experience. Our instructor, Nina, was fantastic - very knowledgeable and patient. It was fascinating hearing about the artisans who spend a lifetime creating such wonderful works of art. The Shibori experience takes fabric dyeing to a whole new level. The class itself was paced really well for the beginner and we were given a choice of designs and colour. The process was explained clearly and help was patiently provided when needed. The class also included a short but informative video on this wonderful artform. There was also time to look around at some of their museum pieces - what a treat for the eyes. At the end of the class our Shibori pieces were presented to us in a gift box. There was an array of goods to purchase too but no pressure to buy. I would highly recommend this activity for anyone wanting to experience traditional Japanese artforms/crafts.

Best part of 2 weeks in Japan!

Reviewed by: Serine, 2019/01/28

The Shibori dyeing class was absolutely incredible. The host had perfect English and was incredibly welcoming. We were sat down and shown different examples of patterns and colours, chose which ones we wanted and made our own scarf! It was a lot of fun, and the best part of a two week holiday spent throughout Japan. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone who doesn't mind spending time in excellent and knowledgable company, and taking home their very own souvenir (as well as the complementary kimono trying on session).

Fun Experience!

We learned how to wrap the cloth and tie the cloth to make a certain pattern. Then we boiled the cloth in the die to produce the pattern. The out come was a beautiful pattern on a silk handkerchief keepsake. The instructors spoke English and shared the history and techniques of Shibori with us.

Totally worth it!

My guests from America were really happy

Reviewed by: Dental, 2015/06/03

I could change the time I went on the day, which helped me a lot.
Additionally, they accommodated me in switching from making a handkerchief to a scarf. We really appreciate that kind arrangement. The English speaker on staff also coped with the sudden change of time. Explanation was easy to understand, and they cheered when it was completed so the guests were very happy. We were so happy that the shop staffs cared to talk and were very kind. For Kimono experience, dressing in Kimono and taking photos do not take much time and do not make people tired, so I think it's suitable for guests from overseas. I really want to return here when I have more guests from abroad. Thank you so much for your kindness.

I want to do this again!

The location was easy to find, and very cozy. I went with my child, but we could take our time. The instructor was very kind and a gentle teacher, and a wonderful conversationalist. It was kind of difficult, but I enjoyed it so much I want to make another thing. A wonderful experience.
