  • Potter's Wheel Workshop (about 2 hours)
    You can make as many pieces as you like with the provided 1 kilogram of clay.
  • Soil Kneading (chrysanthemum kneading)
    8uqgr6n4 Kneading the clay to make it easier to use. This is called chrysanthemum kneading because a design that resembles the chrysanthemum appears when finished kneading. The most important thing at this point is to infuse your feeling into the soil.
  • Molding
    jffbydx5 Set a lump of the clay on the stand of a turning electric potter's wheel and mold it using centrifugal force. It seems to be easy, but good technique is actually necessary for the best results..
  • Whittling
    ybq0074z When the material is semi-dried, whittle it with a metallic spatula and fix the overall form. Whittle it until it meets your satisfaction, but careful to avoid whittling it too much and losing the shape.
  • Unglazed Baking
    hhbbx4qe Bake it at temperature of around 800 degrees to set the clay for coloring and glazing. The picture is the soil after baking. Careful, it isn't finished yet!
  • Applying Glaze
    ibmp3391 Our glaze is called 'Uwakusuri', and it leaves a glossy glass-like finish.
  • Firing
    tccsalc6 Bake it for 9 hours at 1,230 degrees, and wait about 3 days for the ceramic to be cool down.
  • It takes about 1.5 months until completion
