    Jofukuji-karamon is the oldest building in Sakata. It is a cultural property of the city, which has the same form of Otanisobyo of Higashi Hongan Temple in Kyoto

    soumaro Soumarou was opened as a restaurant in the Edo era (between early 1600 to mid-1800). Remaining main building was built after the big fire of Shonai earthquake of 1894. Hina doll, calligraphic works, and antique art works are displayed.

    Hiyoriyama Park is located on a hill to look down at Sakata Port. The view of the sunset in the Sea of Japan is great. There is a ship in the pond in the park to remind the western sea route.

    sankyo It is built in 1893 and is a symbol of a large production of rice. It consists 11 buildings with walls covered in clay among large trees. One of the buildings is opened as the museum of rice and history of Shonai.
  • Old House of Homma
    honma2 In 1768, Mitsuoka, the third generation of the Homma family built it for the feudal lord as an accommodation for traveling inspectors of the time. It is a one-story samurai residence house built with the Shoin style architecture.
  • Abumiya
    Abumiya was the biggest rice dealer in northern Japan and handled the tax rice of various feudal clans.
