09:45 Day Trip from Vienna to the Danube ValleyTravel on comfortable bus from Vienna to Krems, a pretty town on the banks of the Danube river. Enjoy a short break in Krems (Winter) or drive through the historical city centre (Summer). See the ruins of Dürnstein castle, where the English King Richard the Lionheart was held captive.
Danube Boat TripAt the small village of Spitz, board the boat and sail downstream to Melk. You can enjoy lunch on board or eat later at the restaurant at Melk Abbey. Lush vineyards shape the landscape of the Danube Valley and reach down to the blue Danube river.
Weather Conditions on the Boat TripDue to weather conditions the boat trip can only take place between April and October. As an alternative you will be invite to lunch. The same applies if the boat trip has to be cancelled due to high water or similar reasons.
Visit MelkAfter the boat trip, drive to Melk and the nearby Benedictine Abbey. This impressive baroque building was awarded the prize "Best Historic Destination of the World" together with Wachau. On a guided tour see the magnificent marble hall, precious abbey library and the church with its unique frescoes.

That was the best time of my trip and tours in Austria.
