Amazing Frankfurt city tour with live guide!Reviewed by: Nicolas, 2015/09/20
This tour is offered at multiple times during the day. I took the first tour at 10am. The meeting place is in front of the office of Green Line Tours. Also included with this tour is access to Hop On/Hop Off buses. With your ticket you can hop on double decker buses, get off at interesting locations and hop back on when you’re ready. These buses provide headphones and you can listen to the description of interesting points and landmarks in multiple languages. The buses have a retractable roof, it was sunny when I started our tour but the clouds rolled in and it started to rain. The driver immediately pulled the roof, so we wouldn’t get soaked. However, what makes this tour worth it, is the 2h tour with a live guide. I did the tour in English, on a double decker bus with a local, very knowledgeable guide. He spoke English fluently, was funny, and very helpful. In the first half, you drive around frankfurt and he describes the landmarks, ~1h into the tour, you get off the bus and walk around, with the guide, in the historic district. You visit the oldest church in Frankfurt, walk around the plaza, and have some time on your own to go shopping. The guide accompanies you everywhere, except during your free time. You then get back on the bus and continue the city tour with the guide narrating. Overall, I highly recommend this tour and visiting Frankfurt.
Great Way to Explore FrankfurtReviewed by: Anonymous, 2015/09/19
I was in Frankfurt for a couple of days and bought this 2-hour bus tour to make the best use of my limited time. Buyer beware: There is a 1-hour bus tour that is part of a combination package with the Rhine Valley day trip. Both bus tours leave at 10:00. A guide at the tour office incorrectly directed me to the bus for the 1-hour tour even though I had told him that I had not bought the combination package. It was only when the tour ended that I realized that something was wrong. Thankfully the guide who had misdirected me was still at the tour office when I got off the bus and acknowledged his mistake. The tour office offered to let me take the next 2-hour tour at 13:00. However, I did not have enough time because I had to get to the airport. The tour office then arranged for a driver to take me to the location where the group on the 2-hour tour was, so I could take part in the second hour of that tour. I really appreciated this. I think the 1-hour and 2-hour tours follow the same route. The main difference is that the 2-hour tour has a live guide, while the 1-hour tour is a prerecorded audio guide. The live guide takes the group on a 30-minute walking tour of the Old Town. The guide was excellent, and I regretted missing the first half of the tour. After the 2-hour tour ended, people could continue to use their tickets to hop on and off the bus for the rest of the day. This makes this tour a really good value.
