~Travelling with an Oyster Card~

Travelling with an Oyster Card is the most cost-effective way of travelling across London. This is because journey costs with an Oyster Card are capped after a certain amount each day. So any journeys you make after you have exceeded the daily rate will not be charged. Just look at how cost-effective travelling with an Oyster Card is on the tube, overground and DLR:

Travel zones Single journey Daily Cap
Zones 1-2 £2.90 £6.40
Zones 1-3 £3.30 £7.50
Zones 1-4 £3.90 £9.20
Zones 1-5 £4.70 £10.90
Zones 1-6 £5.10 £11.70

A single journey by bus, on the otherhand, is only £1.50 with an Oyster Card - and each journey costs the same amount, no matter the distance travelled. Daily capped rates for buses are £4.40 which means your credit will go even further, too. As over 40 of the top London Attractions included free with The London Pass are within zones 1 – 2, if you were to stay within this central belt you’ll only be charged a maximum of £4.40 or £6.40 per day, depending on your mode of transport.

FAQ

How do you activate The London Pass?
  • London Pass is available for 1, 2, 3 or 6 days meaning you can choose the duration of Pass that best matches your trip for maximum flexibility. Your London Pass is valid for consecutive days, rather than 24 hours, and is activated by scanning your card upon entry at your first attraction.
When does The London Pass expire?
  • Your pass will automatically expire at the end of your pass duration (1, 2, 3 or 6 days). After your pass has expired the card will stop working and will not allow you entry into any further attractions. London Pass is also subject to a “purse value” of maximum gate prices (a total value of attraction entries) related to the number of days on your pass. For example; with a 6 day adult London Pass, you get a whopping £540 worth of attraction entry! If you exceed your “purse value”, the pass will expire. Note: Passes can only be used at each attraction once.
Does the London Pass include Fast Track Entry at Top London Attractions?
  • Yes, another great benefit of the London Pass is that it allows you to skip frustrating queues at a number of top attractions. Simply look for the London Pass signs and show the attendant your valid London Pass to jump the line. You'll feel like a VIP.

London has so many great things to see and to do it's no wonder it is one of the most popular travel destinations in the world.
