Explore Asakusa, a unique neighborhood of Tokyo, where you can immerse yourself in both the rich cultural traditions of Japan as well as experience the ultra-modern SkyTree. Wear a kimono as you tour Asakusa's many sights and take lots of gorgeous pictures dressed up in your choice of kimono!
You can add a professional photo shoot around the area's most lovely sights or the indoor studio, accompanied by a photographer. This is a great option for couples celebrating an engagement, wedding, anniversary or as a beautiful memento of your trip to Tokyo.

4 min walk from Exit 2 on the Ginza line. Studio is located on the 4th floor of the Suzuki Bldg (written 鈴木).

Restrictions

Women who are pregnant cannot wear kimono, due to the tight binding of the obi belt.
If you arrive late, we may not be able to provide all of the services you have booked, due to the arrival of other customers. Please arrive on time for your appointment. If you arrive late and are unable to receive all services, there will be no refunds.
Men are welcome to join the experience, as men's kimonos are available. Please select the Standard Plan when booking.
Please apply your own make-up before arriving at the kimono studio, as there is no place to apply it at the studio. ^[A]
Women who are over 145cm tall can participate in Luxury Plan ^[B]

What to bring

You don't need to bring anything for the kimono session, but please make sure that you wear something warm underneath during the winter.

Additional notes

Please do not drink or eat while wearing furisode, to prevent spills and damage to the kimono.
Photos taken at the studio will be sent to you by e-mail.
Please return to Sakura Photo Studio by 17:00. ^[C]
From June to August, yukata (a casual summer kimono) will be used instead of kimono. ^[D]
For guests who choose the Photo Shoot option: the pictures will be sent to you about 2 weeks after the photo shoot. ^[A]
You can enjoy walking around Asakusa in furisode for two hours. ^[B]

This was something the girls (daughters & girlfriend) really wanted to do. I was not as enthusiastic about it.
When we arrived the staff was extremely friendly and immediately tended to all of our needs/requirements. We chose our Kimonos and they dressed us all up. They made up the females' hair really nice and beautiful and gave us more than enough time to walk around Asakusa after. There is a great temple about a block away to take super pictures at.

Additionally, one of the staff members makes origami earrings and they are for sale at a very great price. They also have fans, umbrellas and other accessories for rent/sale.
The overall experience was actually better than I thought it would be. We had such a great time. The downside to it was getting some dirty looks from some of the locals; however, for the most part, many enjoyed it and took pictures of/with us. There were more people who liked it than not. There was a family (Japanese) who was in there prior to us dressing up and walking around as well. We saw them later at the temple along with a few others from other kimono places all dressed up. So we did not feel out of place once we saw others.
I highly recommend this company if you want a great Kimono experience. They also have Samurai wear and other traditional dresses. Look them up (Sakura Photography in Asakusa).

We rented a kimono my sister and I with the basic plan, and we had such a good time. The very kind ladies speak english well, and helped us getting dressed, arranged our hair. We felt special!
We spent the day walking around asakusa and took a lot of pictures. Very good experience and not too expensive! :)

We arrived via Ginza line, and in a few short blocks we were at the studio. It was located in 4 story building on the corner of two streets. Signs were posted on thier windows to show where they were located. As we got there most of the employees of Sakura Photo Studio were just getting in, but we're ready to help us get into our kimonos. They were really quick and patient in helping us choose our kimonos. One of the employees spoke FOUR LANGUAGES: Japanese, Korean, Chinese ( Mandarin), and English! That was really helpful especially when other groups started to enter the studio,including that the studio is very small for changing into the kimonos.

The staff was able to get us into.our kimonos within the hour and let us know how long we had the rentals for the day. They also had some discounts on Rik Shaw rides through Asakusa. You'll look extra traditional with your kimonos.

Overall, the service was great, the quality of the kimonos were great and diverse, and the staff was very helpful. Will do again if I come back to Asakusa.

This was an amazing experience. The staff is so nice and speaks English and did an awesome job. It's not cheap but make sure to also do the make up and have someone to take pictures. While wandering around in Asakusa, people will look at you amazed and amused. This is really unique!

Explored Asakusa and Senso-ji Temple in a Kimono!

Newfound respect for the ladies who had to wear kimonos on a daily basis back in the day! I didn't know the prep was so tedious. It was both surprisingly fun and tiring to walk in a kimono. We ate street food, shopped around Orange St and walked to Senso-ji Temple while we were wearing them. We were lucky that the place where we rented it from had actual silk kimonos instead of polyester because it was a very hot Sunday afternoon. Would recommend this experience to first time Tokyo visitors!

I was the only guy in the room! Why did it felt like I'm the only one who tried to wear it that day, haha! But I guess it's not a bad thing? :D Wearing the Kimono in public feels a little bit awkward at first, but as we go on, it feels fine. Maybe one of the most unforgettable experiences I had :)

I didn't enjoy this tour. I didn't expect that I had to strip off my clothes in a space (with just a cloth as a door) with other strangers. Wearing the kimono was uncomfortable. It was heavy and complicated to wear (and take off). That particular day was also hot, so I was all sweaty and uneasy while walking outside. Good thing about this tour was the friendly staff at the Sakura Photo Studio.
