I usually don't exercise and I dislike mountain climbing, but after being moved by Shiratani Unsuikyo last year, I decided to challenge myself and try to reach Taiko Rock. As I had researched beforehand, the climb from the moss-covered forest to Taiko Rock was really tough. I think I would have given up if it weren't for the guide. When I finally mustered my last bit of strength and reached the summit, I was truly moved by the view in front of me and felt that it was worth climbing!

I had a fantastic time on the Taiko Rock course for five hours with our guide, Mr. Kimura. It flew by as he taught us various things along the way. I felt like a child again, enjoying every moment, and I want to return to Yakushima next time to experience Yakusugi Land and marine sports! I would be thrilled to meet the same guide again then.

It was a tour to Taiko Rock, but due to the weather, the participants' physical condition, and scheduling, we walked to the Mossy Forest instead. We were given enough time to explore the surroundings, and I was able to enjoy it thoroughly.

Along the way, the guide shared various stories about the island's weather, tourist spots, Yakusugi (ancient cedar trees), and safe walking methods. I felt it was a good decision to join the tour instead of climbing on my own.

I chose to depart at 5:00 due to my schedule. It was still dark and raining, but since there were few people, I was able to walk at my own pace. Before we set off, the guide explained that considering the rain, we might only be able to go partway, and there was a possibility we might not be able to cross the second stream, but we wouldn't know until we tried. I was really happy with the guide's kind and thorough explanations, encouraging us to enjoy the experience. In the end, we had to give up … I chose to depart at 5:00 due to my schedule. In the end, we had to give up on crossing the second stream as it was already swollen and dangerous.

I couldn't help but think that if we had made it to Taiko Rock as planned, or at least to the mossy forest, or if it hadn't been raining, it would have been nice. However, I was satisfied with the beauty of the moss that we could see in the rain, the fear of the water, and the guide's explanations. I think it was physically demanding, but if I have the chance to go again, I would like to request the same tour with the same guide.

It's a bit tough due to the typhoon damage.

Due to the impact of the large typhoon at the end of August, which caused significant damage to Yayoi Cedar and closed the usual routes, we had to take a detour to reach the Kusukawa Trail. However, thanks to the rain that fell in the morning, we were able to see the fresh, dew-laden forest, making it a memorable tour. Since there was a forecast for rain and thunder, we followed the guide's suggestion to change our course and turn back in the mossy forest instead of going all the way to Taiko Rock. This allowed us more time for photography and enjoying the scenery, and it started to rain on our way back, so I think it turned out well in the end. I was very satisfied with the trekking experience. The guide provided detailed explanations and shared personal stories, making the walk enjoyable. Thank you very much.

The beautiful mossy forest and the breathtaking view from Taiko Rock were amazing! It wasn't as tough as Jomon Sugi, but it wasn't lacking either. The guide's pace was just right, and their interesting explanations made it enjoyable. I also appreciated the miso soup that was provided along the way. Due to the impact of Typhoon No. 10, we had to take a detour for part of the route. I pray for a swift recovery. Thank you for the wonderful experience!

Trekking in the rain was challenging, but thanks to the rain, we were able to see beautiful scenery. It was a lot of fun trekking while receiving tips on how to walk from the guide and listening to various stories.

The view from Taiko Rock was amazing. It was very enjoyable to walk slowly while talking about animals and plants. I was worried about being able to walk since I went to Jomon Sugi the day before, but I was able to walk comfortably.

It had been raining since midnight, and the guide explained that if the river was too high and we couldn't cross the stream, the tour might be canceled. So we decided to head to the site and started our journey. In the end, while the water level was a bit high, we were able to cross the stream, and gradually the weather improved. We made it to Taiko Rock, where we were able to see an incredibly beautiful view.

However, the sole of the rental shoes came off partway through, and while the guide provided a temporary fix, it was difficult to put pressure on my feet.

I was able to complete the tour thanks to our guide, Mr. Uranishi. I also want to thank the other participants in the tour. Thank you very much.

The day before, I had gone trekking to Jomon Sugi and was worried about my stamina, but while chatting with the guide, I quickly arrived at the destination. Since the guide is from Yakushima, it was really enjoyable to hear stories about Yakushima.

After the tour, I went to lunch at a recommended restaurant with the other participants and the guide. There, I was able to try the famous "kubore saba" (saba fish).
