On February 13th, I participated in the Ice Sculpture Festival tour. The ice sculptures made from the water of Lake Shikotsu, known as Shikotsu Blue, were all beautifully blue! The ice wall and big mountain were both stunning and impressive, and the illuminated view from the observation deck was very magical and lovely!
2月13日、氷濤まつりのツアーに参加しました。支笏湖ブルーといわれる支笏湖の水で作られている氷の像は、青くどれも綺麗でした！アイスウォールやビッグマウンテンなどは、美しくも迫力があり、また展望台からのライトアップされた眺めはとても幻想的で素敵でした！
全体を見て回るのに1時間くらいです。寒さ対策はしっかりしておくことをおすすめします。

We arrived in about 90 minutes without any noticeable traffic. I was worried about how cold it would be, but the temperature was relatively high that day, so it wasn't too cold. Numerous ice sculptures were illuminated in various colors, creating a fantastical atmosphere, and the occasional falling snow added to the romantic ambiance.
The moss cave and observation deck always had long lines, so I think it's best to aim for times when there are fewer people.
The viewing time is 70 minutes from the bus's arrival, but unfortunately, it felt a bit rushed as we had to keep an eye on the time. About 90 minutes might be just right. The return trip was smooth, and we arrived at Sapporo Station a little earlier, where we then dispersed.

I was worried about the weather since it was winter in Hokkaido. In the morning, it was snowing, so Nakayama Pass was in a blizzard, and I couldn't see Lake Toya very well. Gradually, the weather improved, and Showa Shinzan and the bear ranch were beautiful. The final Shikotsu Lake Ice Festival was impressive. However, since the lights came on at 4:30 PM and I was heading back at 5 PM while it was still bright, I wished I could have stayed until it got a bit darker. But I was satisfied that they took me to places that are difficult to go to alone.

I was very satisfied that I could visit all the places I wanted to 🥰. The tour I participated in (in February) had a third of the participants from China, a third from Taiwan, and a third from Japan. Everyone gathered on time without any delays, making it a stress-free trip. At the photo spots, the crew took a lot of pictures for us, creating wonderful memories.

I applied because it was listed as a stop at Hokkaido Shrine, but in reality, we only saw it from the car window... To put it dramatically, I feel deceived. I had even prepared my stamp book, so I'm just disappointed. If you're not going to stop, please don't advertise it.
We were supposed to depart at 8:30, but we were quite late. The guide was unfriendly and the explanations were lacking. Other customers were angry, and I completely understand. I would like them to operate more reliably.

I think it was good to efficiently visit many attractions in one day, with a reasonable amount of free time. However, there were several disappointing aspects.
⚪︎ While there was indeed a "multilingual" indication, over 99% of the announcements on the bus were in Chinese. On that day, two buses were operating, and the other one was in English. I would have understood if it were in English, but I couldn't understand anything in Chinese. I never expected that a tour booked in Japan would be conducted only in Chinese. The Japanese explanations were minimal at best. I believe English would have been better for Japanese participants. I think there should have been an option to choose in advance, or at least a notification that it would be in Chinese this time. The Chinese participants on the same bus had no issues at all. I did mention to the guide that I would like more explanations in Japanese, but I was told that most of the Chinese announcements were just safety instructions, though it didn't seem like that for two or three hours. I didn't press the issue further.
⚪︎ I saw several notices that the entrance fee for the Shikotsuko Ice Festival was separate, but I may have missed the information about the entrance fee for the bear ranch, which ended up being an additional expense for me.
⚪︎ During the tour, we were driving on the highway, and I noticed we were overtaking trucks and cars on the left at quite a speed in the snow. There was never any instruction to wear seatbelts. While I didn't feel in immediate danger, I was scared and made sure to buckle my seatbelt.
I decided to participate in your tour based on a recommendation from a friend, but I was a bit disappointed.

⚪︎確かに「多言語」の表記はありましたが、バス内は９９%以上中国語でした。その日は2台のバスが出ていて、もう一方は英語でした。英語なら分かったのに中国語では全く何もわかりません。日本のツアーを予約してまさか中国語だけとは思いませんでした。日本語は必要最低限の内容だけでした。日本人には英語の方がまだマシだと思います。あるいは事前に選べるか、せめて今回は中国語であることくらいのお知らせはあるべきだと思いました。同じバスの中国系の方々には全く問題はありませんでした。ガイドの方に一度日本語の説明を増やして欲しい旨を伝えましたが、中国語はほとんどが注意事項ですと言われましたが、２時間も３時間もそういう訳ではなかったでしょう。それ以上は言いませんでした。
⚪︎ツアー内容に支笏湖氷濤祭りの入場料は別途との案内は何度かみましたが、熊牧場の入場料については見逃したのかも知れませんが、私にとってはプラスの出費になりました。
⚪︎ツアー中、高速道路を走りましたが、気がつくと左を走るトラックや乗用車をドンドン追い抜いていました。雪の中、かなりのスピードが出ていたと思います。一度もシートベルトをするよう指示はありませんでした。危険な思いをしたわけではありませんでしたが、こわくて自身はシートベルトを絞めていました。
友人から御社のツアーを推薦され参加を決めましたが、少し残念でした。

As a resident of Sapporo, driving in winter can be challenging, so when it comes to using public transportation, I have to transfer to a bus at Asahikawa Station, which is often crowded and requires a long wait, making it difficult to find a seat. That's why I decided to use this tour.
There are several tours to Asahiyama Zoo, but this one allows for a longer stay of over three hours, which lets you fully enjoy the zoo, unlike others that stop at various sightseeing spots and have shorter zoo visits. The comfortable bus took us right to the entrance of the zoo, making it easier than going on my own.
The guide shared interesting information about the area and Hokkaido during the trip, which was beneficial even for someone like me who lives in Hokkaido.
Regarding the penguin walk, since I visited during a busy weekend, it's important to secure a good spot early, or it can be hard to see. I managed to get a front-row spot just 15 minutes before it started. Also, using an umbrella can be a nuisance to others, so having a hat is a good idea in case it snows.

旭山動物園へ行くツアーは他にもいくつかありますが、動物園以外にも観光スポットに立ち寄るため動物園の滞在時間が短く、こちらのツアーは滞在時間が3時間以上あり、動物園を満喫することができました。設備の整ったバスで快適に動物園の門の前まで行くことができ、個人で行くより楽でした。
ガイドさんが道中、そこの土地についてや北海道について紹介してくれ、北海道に住んでいる私にとってもためになる内容でした。
ペンギンの散歩について
週末の混雑している時期に訪れたため、早めに場所取りをしないと見えにくい場所になってしまいます。15分前でぎりぎり前列を確保できました。また傘を使うと他の人の迷惑になってしまうので、帽子があると雪が降ったときなどにいいと思います。

I participated with determination despite the severe cold wave, but unexpectedly, the weather was favorable. I was able to enjoy the sunset over Lake Shikotsu and the Ice Festival before and after the lights were turned on. I also got to experience roasting marshmallows, which became a fun memory.
It was a tour that included a postcard gift, but the gift turned out to be a sample of Hi-Chew. I wonder if they forgot or if the postcards weren't popular? (laughs) The guide was a wonderful young lady, and I felt so confident in her recommendations that I ended up buying all the suggested souvenirs.

It was a cold day with snow falling, but I was able to see a group of king penguins on their walk. I've been to the zoo several times, but this was the first time I got to see the penguins' walk, and it was so moving that it made me forget about the cold.

To be honest, it wasn't very enjoyable. It was my first time at Lake Toya, but after going once, I felt like that was enough. I personally had high hopes for the Ice Festival, but it was more subdued than I expected. Since it didn't look very beautiful at the time I went, it might have been better to join a tour that takes place during darker hours.
I thought the fee for the Ice Festival was included in the tour price, but it turned out to be a pay-on-site situation (even for those who paid in advance, they needed to show a voucher on-site). I overlooked that detail, so I was glad to understand it after hearing the explanation in the vehicle. However, I noticed some fellow passengers (Japanese) from the same bus entering without going through the ticket booth. Since I learned that payment was required in advance, I suspect that other tour booking sites besides Veltra probably don't collect the Ice Festival fee beforehand either, and I felt uncomfortable seeing that passenger enter without paying.
In this day and age, there are foreigners everywhere you go. Please don't take too seriously the reviews mentioning that the bus was noisy; that's just a matter of chance. I think it should be fine for those who don't mind crowds. However, it's safer to avoid weekends and holidays.
The guide was fluent in multiple languages and provided thorough explanations. Thank you to the driver and the guide for your hard work in the cold and snowy weather.

個人的に氷濤まつりに期待していましたが思ったより地味でした。
時間帯的にあまり綺麗に見えなかったので、暗い時間に行われているツアーの方が良かったかも。
氷濤まつりの代金がツアー代金に含まれてるのかと思いきや、現地払い(先払いの人も、現地でパウチャーを見せる必要があるとのこと)でした。
そこを見落としてたので車内で説明を聞いて分かって良かったのですが、明らかにチケット売り場を通さずに入場していく同じバスの同乗客(日本人)を見かけました。
先払いというのを知ったのでVeltraさん以外のツアー予約サイトでもおそらく氷濤まつりの代金は事前に取ってないと思いますが、その客は無銭入場ではないかと感じ、見てて不愉快でした。
このご時世なのでどこ行っても外国人だらけです。他の方の口コミにあるバスの中がうるさいとかは、ガチャ要素なのであまり信じないで下さい。
人混みが嫌いでない人なら大丈夫かと思います。なお、週末と祝日は避けた方が無難です。
ガイドさんは複数の言語を流暢にこなしていて、説明も丁寧でした。
運転手さん、ガイドさん、寒くて吹雪いてる中大変お疲れ様でした。

The tour departed fully booked with two buses, and the tour guide provided explanations in both Japanese and English alternately. There were fewer foreign participants than expected, estimated to be around 20-30%. The one-way trip took an hour and a half, and the atmosphere on the bus was quiet, allowing for a relaxed experience. Lake Shikotsu was quite cold with a chilly wind, significantly colder than Sapporo, and I managed to cope by using a heat pack. The objects frozen by spraying lake water with a sprinkler were illuminated, creating a fantastical scene, and my wife remarked that she was more moved by this than by the Snow Festival. On the way back, we arrived 20 minutes earlier than scheduled, possibly due to lighter traffic.

First and foremost, I felt reassured. They safely took us from Sapporo to the frozen snowy roads of Lake Shikotsu. It was a mountain path that I definitely couldn't have navigated on my own. Then, when I suddenly saw the vast Lake Shikotsu, it was breathtaking. While feeling the cold wind from Lake Shikotsu, a world of ice awaited us. The ice mountains, caves, and ice pillars, along with beautifully lit sculptures, were truly moving. It became a wonderful page in my Hokkaido travel experience. Thank you very much.

I felt安心 knowing there was a tour guide with us. The local winds were stronger than I imagined, but it wasn't too bad once we left the lake. I wanted to visit the souvenir shops lined up in the woods, but with only an hour and a half to stay, I barely had time for sightseeing and a restroom break. I thought it was a shame that we couldn't depart at 1 or 2 PM instead of 3 PM, as we could have enjoyed some tea and bought souvenirs then. I really appreciated the help since I couldn't have driven there myself. Thank you for the wonderful plan. If there’s a tour for Lake Toya, I would love to join!

I wasn't confident about driving in Sapporo during winter, and taking public transportation seemed challenging, so I decided to sign up for a bus tour. The meeting point was close to Sapporo Station and easy to find.
As for the Ice Festival, it was wonderful. I was able to enjoy both the twilight before sunset and the illumination afterwards. Since it was a holiday on the first day of the festival, it was extremely crowded, and it took a while to get into the parking lot, with long lines inside the venue as well, but I had a great time!
I also recommend that if you have extra time, you can return to the bus early.
冬の札幌で車を運転する自信もなく、かといって公共交通機関で行くのも大変そうなので、バスツアーに申し込んでみました。

The ice sculptures were very beautiful and enjoyable! In addition to the stunning ice sculptures, there were observation decks to climb, a corner where you could roast marshmallows inside the ice structures, and a corner that resembled an ice café. 氷像がとても綺麗で楽しめました！綺麗な氷像の他、登って楽しめる展望台や、氷の建造物の中でマシュマロを焼けるコーナーや氷のカフェのようなコーナーもあり、この季節にしかできないユニークな体験だと思いました。心配していた寒さも着込んでいたせいか然程感じませんでした。風があんまりなかったおかげかもしれません。ただ、開催初日の土曜日ということで人が多すぎてじっくり楽しめなかったのが残念です。長蛇の列ができており、集合時間の関係で中に入れないモニュメントもありました。全てをしっかり見て回りたい人にとっては時間が足りないと思います。混雑していたせいでガイドさんがチケットを手配する間に待ち時間が発生していたのでその時間がもったいなかったなと感じました。

I participated in a tour during the Spring Festival. There were probably only four Japanese people, and the rest were likely all Chinese. The tour guide was also a Chinese person who had been in Japan for two years. Anyway, the group was not punctual at all; we started late, and my concerns about the rest of the trip were confirmed as delays continued. A 10-minute delay was the norm. The only time we were on schedule was for the last restroom break at the service area. I felt sorry for the tour guide, who was anxious every time. Sapporo in the snow. Still, the weather was clear on the day, perfect for sightseeing. My little trip began while gazing at the front of the Hokkaido Government Office. We passed by Hokkaido Shrine and the Okurayama Jump Stadium. When we took the lift up, the view of the beautiful snowy landscape was breathtaking. There was also the Sapporo Olympic Museum. I was happy to visit Shiroi Koibito Park, which I had wanted to see. Finally, at the outer market, I enjoyed a melon and a seafood bowl. くま牧場は下にいるクマめがけてビスケットを投げて(クマも飽き飽きしてるようで食べない)何を見てるのかよくわかんない1番つまらない場所でした。
またもガイドさんが「ここでしか買えないクマの美容クリーム！」と言い出した時にこれはマージンがガイドさんに入ってるのかな？と疑うレベル。
地獄谷では硫黄臭の中歩いて歩いて行きましたが結局大した物もなく。
アウトレットも普通で。。。
とにかくこのツアーはお勧めしないのでルートの再検討をお願いしたいです。
後悔はしてないけど2度と行きません。夫が外国人だから英語のツアーにしたせいなのかな？アジア系とインド系が多くて彼らが満足してるのかは謎です。

In mid-January, I participated in this bus tour, and out of 47 people on the bus, 40 were from China. Each time we departed from different locations, there was about a minute of explanation in Japanese, but afterwards, the conversation continued in Chinese for 20-30 minutes. It created quite an alien atmosphere, and I constantly felt out of place on the bus. If this is such a foreigner-oriented tour, I would have appreciated being informed of this in advance as a precaution.
Additionally, outside the bus, I experienced behaviors such as people cutting in line and persistently pushing to get ahead during the lineup, which even caused some people to fall.

Sapporo, our departure point, had little snow, but Asahiyama Zoo was a winter wonderland at -6 degrees, truly representing Hokkaido! 帰りの高速道路は通行止めが多く5時間近くかかり疲れましたが、事故なく雪道を安全に送り届けてくれたことに感謝です。
