I transferred to the Aurora boat at the port, which is connected to a roadside station, and cruised around the ice floes for about an hour, making five laps. I moved to Abashiri city by bus for lunch (seafood rice bowl), but the seating was cramped, and the seafood rice bowl was just okay. I took another bus to JR Kitahama Station to view the drift ice from a sightseeing train. After that, I took a bus from Abashiri Station to explore the frigid Notoro Cape, returning to Abashiri at 4 PM.

It was a very packed day. Thank you to all the staff for their hard work.

Since it was the Lunar New Year, there were many gentlemen talking loudly and ladies coughing without masks.

道の駅併設の港からオーロラ号に乗り換えて、港周辺を１時間５周ほどグルグルと流氷の中を航行し、
またバスに乗って、監獄博物館を１時間見学し、
バスですぐ近くのオホーツク流氷館を見学＆美味しいソフトを食べて、
バスで網走市内に移動して昼食（海鮮丼）を食べて。（席が狭くて、海鮮丼もイマイチで・・）
またバスに乗ってJR北浜駅に行って、観光列車から流氷を眺めて、
網走駅からバスに乗って、極寒の能取岬を散策して、
網走に戻ったのが16時。

とっても盛り沢山な一日でした。スタッフの皆さん、ご苦労様でした。

春節だったので、大声で喋りまくる紳士や、マスク無しで咳をしまくる御婦人が多数いました。

「まるわかりバス御一行様～」と各施設で案内されました。
ガイドさん、お疲れ様でした。
時間はたっぷりあるので、焦らなくても流氷は間近で見られました。
天然記念物のオオワシ。
網走監獄で白石由竹発見！
お店のキャパに対して、人数が多すぎでしたね。春節だし・・

My experience with the Abashiri sightseeing bus was very good, with the guide's explanations being clear and the course, including lunch, going smoothly without any issues. However, I was disappointed that the weather on that day was unusually warm across the country, and in Abashiri, the main attraction of drifting ice was flowing out to sea, which meant I couldn't have the experience I had hoped for.

I had been looking forward to this for a long time, but when I arrived, the abnormal warmth in February, which even the locals had never experienced, was surprising. I had prepared for temperatures around minus ten degrees on the Aurora ship, but with no wind and temperatures above ten degrees, I was relieved to be comfortable without my coat. Unfortunately, the crucial drifting ice had moved away, leaving only a small amount of ice floating around Abashiri.

What saved the day was the beautiful view of the snow-capped Shiretoko mountain range under clear skies. In the end, I believe the various attractions I visited in Abashiri were so good that they made me want to challenge myself to return again in the future.

　網走観光バスの体験は、ガイドさんの説明もよく、コースの先も昼食等何ら問題もなく、大変良かったと思っています。
　ただ、当日の気候は全国的に暖かくて、当該地の網走も気象観測値を更新する記録の中での本来の主目的であった流氷が沖に流れて期待以上の体験が出来なかったことが残念でならない。
人生の後短いものが、やっと念願のものが達成されると喜んでいたが、開いてみれば、異常気象で地元民も体験していないと言うくらいの２月の暖かさで、オーロラ号船上でマイナス１０度程度の気温を覚悟し防寒対策をして臨んだものの、風もなく10度以上の気温から上着を脱ぎ寒くなくて良かったと喜びもよそに、肝心の流氷は沖へ去り網走周囲には何もなく少しの氷が浮いている状況でした。
　救われたのは、晴天の遥かに知床連山の白い雪のかぶった山々がきれいに見えたことでした。
　最後に、網走で見学した各観光は年を置いて、再度挑戦する気持ちの起こる程に良かったと思います。

The weather was perfect (except for lunch). The drift ice was in perfect condition, and the Shiretoko mountain range was clearly visible, which was very nice. However, about lunch... I had some hokke (a type of fish), but it was as cold as if it had just come straight out of the refrigerator. I didn't find it tasty at all. I can't recommend this place for individuals... It was a very fulfilling tour that allowed us to cover so many activities in just one day. Above all, the guide's thoughtfulness was wonderful, as they apologized multiple times for the cancellation of the Aurora. Although we could see the drifting ice from land, the view from the ship was truly impressive and made us feel the power of nature! I heard that there are times when the drifting ice isn't present, so whether you can see it seems to depend on luck. However, on the day we participated, there were parts of the sea surface visible, and as we went further out, we encountered a lot of drifting ice. It was very moving to navigate through it by boat. In the distance, we also spotted Steller's sea eagles and white-tailed eagles, which was fantastic! The tour was packed with activities, making for a busy itinerary, but I don't think we could have visited so many places in just one day on our own. I would recommend this tour for those who want to experience Abashiri in a short amount of time.

This is perfect for exploring various places on your own! I participated in this tour, and although it was a bit rushed, I was able to fully enjoy Abashiri in just half a day, which is unique to this tour. I was very satisfied.

When we finally stopped by Notoro Cape, I thought, "Oh, that lighthouse from the Arashi commercial," but when I actually got there, I was overwhelmed by the sound of waves mixed with drifting ice crashing against the cliffs and the biting cold wind. It was an incredible experience!

I probably wouldn't have visited this place on my own, so I'm really glad I was taken there. I want to go back even outside of the drifting ice season.

This is a tour starting from the Aurora ice floe cruise. Unfortunately, there were no ice floes. We saw plenty of white-tailed eagles, but there is no refund for the tour even without the ice floes. Next was free sightseeing at Abashiri Prison, so we went straight from the entrance to the prison cafeteria. We had prison beer and strolled around the souvenir shop. After that, we visited the Ice Floe Museum. It was a bit desperate to spin the wet towel and freeze it. I also had ice floe soft serve. There are no discounts or services, but 350 yen is cheap. It was delicious with a salted caramel flavor.

As for lunch, as others have mentioned, it was not something to look forward to. There is about an hour for the meal, so it feels like you’re just killing time wandering nearby, so I think it would be better to shorten it to about 30 minutes and move on to the next location. The sightseeing train from Kitahama Station was crowded. We moved to Abashiri Station on a packed train, and next was Cape Notoro. I was looking forward to the stunning views here. The time was about 15 minutes, so it went by in a flash. I wish I could have taken my time and enjoyed it more.

その後のランチは、他の方も書かれているように期待できません。
食事時間が1時間くらいあるので、近くを散策して時間を潰す感じなので、30分くらいにして次に移動しても良いかと感じます。
北浜駅からの観光列車は混雑していました。
網走駅まで満員電車で移動して次は能取岬です。ここは絶景を楽しみにしていました。時間は15分くらいなので、あっという間でした。もっとじっくりゆっくりしたかったです。

They were quite close, and since they were in a pod, we could see several orcas swimming in a straight line. Additionally, we also saw dolphins and seabirds. The drift ice and Abashiri Prison were impressive. The view from the Drift Ice Museum was also nice. However, the lunch portion was small. You can choose between a seafood bowl or a hokke set meal, but I chose the seafood bowl, which came with just the bowl, pickles, and miso soup. We were taken to the second floor of the dining area, and after the food was served, that was it. The staff did not come up to the second floor, and there was no warm tea after the meal, nor any way to call the staff. The rice portion was large, but the seafood was minimal. If lunch is simple, the satisfaction level might be low.

We disbanded at Abashiri Station at 16:00, but I immediately went into a hamburger restaurant nearby and had a salad buffet and a hamburger. It might be good for older people, but others might have felt hungry.

From a distance, I was able to see the spouts and diving scenes of two sperm whales, and I spotted a pod of dolphins about three to four times! The captain and crew kindly provided directions and locations, and due to the strong waves, they also alerted us to the water splashes and guided us inside the boat, allowing for good observation.

I participated in a tour in late September, but it was quite cold, possibly due to the weather not being very good, so I recommend bringing a down jacket or similar. I brought binoculars, but since the whales kept surfacing and diving, I found it difficult to focus, so I felt it was okay not to have them.

I definitely want to visit during the summer season to see orcas!
