Surrounded by the magnificent nature, we were able to see a mother and baby deer, as well as a bald eagle and a white-tailed eagle, along with various animal tracks, which was truly moving. Since it was mid-winter, I was a bit concerned about my mother's physical stamina, but the staff's careful attention and explanations completely alleviated my worries. If I could wish for anything, I would have liked to see more animals. That's just a matter of luck, though... The guide mentioned that if the timing is right, we might even see cranes flying. Canoeing in Kushiro is famous during the summer, but this time, I signed up for a mid-January winter trip to Kushiro, feeling honestly anxious about whether I could enjoy canoeing in sub-zero temperatures. I chose Hiraiwa's tour because the hotel pickup from the center of Kushiro was very appealing to us, as we do not drive rental cars.

They arrived on time to pick us up from the hotel lobby and were considerate during the transfer, even regarding restroom breaks before the tour. Then, the canoeing experience began. I was thrilled to see a pair of white-tailed eagles and Ezo deer up close. The cold I was worried about was manageable, thanks to the favorable weather and the high-performance dry suit from Montbell that we were provided, allowing us to fully enjoy the scenery without feeling too cold. The river descent lasted about an hour and a half, and it was a very satisfying tour with views of wildlife, trains, and beautiful landscapes. I think the duration was just right.

Afterward, we were treated to warm cocoa, making it a wonderful tour with exceptional service.

Looking back, I think it would have been better to have some cold-weather gear. While the parts covered by the dry suit were quite warm, my feet were only in rubber boots, which got pretty cold. Specifically, warm socks, foot warmers to put inside shoes, a face mask for cold weather like those used for skiing, and adhesive hot packs would be helpful. Also, having a tumbler would have allowed us to enjoy warm drinks while canoeing. For those taking photos with smartphones, gloves that allow for smartphone use would be a good idea.

In any case, we were blessed with good weather, and thanks to Hiraiwa's thoughtful care, it turned out to be a fun day. Thank you very much.

釧路の夏のカヌーは有名ですが、今回は1月中旬の真冬の釧路旅行ということで、氷点下の極寒のカヌーは楽しめるか正直不安に思いながら申し込みました。ヒライワさんのツアーにしたのは、釧路中心部のホテルの送迎付という点が、レンタカーを運転しない私たちには非常に魅力的に感じたからです。
時間通りホテルロビーに迎えに来て下さってから、移動中もツアー前のお手洗いのことなど色々とご配慮頂きました。そしてカヌー体験が始まりました。オジロワシのつがいや、エゾシカを間近に見ることができて感動しました。心配していた寒さは、天候に恵まれたこともありますが、お貸出し頂いたモンベルの高性能ドライスーツのおかげでそこまで感じることなく、思い切り景色を楽しむことができました。1時間半程度の川下りでしたが、野生動物や電車、美しい景色を見ることができて大満足のツアーでした。時間的にも、ちょうどいい長さだったと思います。
終わった後もあたたかいココアをごちそうして頂き、至れり尽くせりの素晴らしいツアーでした。
終わってみてから感じた有った方が良い持ち物としては、やはり防寒対策品です。ドライスーツを着ている部分はかなり暖かくはなっていますが、足元はゴム長を履いているだけなのでかなり冷えます。具体的には、厚手の靴下や靴の中に貼るカイロなどの足元の防寒対策、スキー等につかう防寒のフェイスマスク、貼るホッカイロなどがあると良いと思います。また、タンブラーがあればカヌーの上で暖かい飲み物が飲めたかなと思います。スマホで撮影される方は、スマホがそのまま使える手袋がいいかもしれません。
ともあれ天気にも恵まれ、ヒライワさんの心遣いのおかげで、楽しい1日になりました。ありがとうございました。

On January 7th, I had a fantastic time playing in the snow at North Snowland Inn Chitose! I used a package plan that included snowmobiling and horseback riding in the snow. Even without a car, it was just a 10-minute taxi ride from JR Chitose Station, costing less than 1500 yen. The location of North Snowland Inn Chitose, just 15 minutes from the airport, is perfect. While it's not impossible to reach Furepe Falls on our own, thanks to this tour, we learned so many things that we would never have noticed by ourselves. We were able to ask questions until we were satisfied about the ecology of the flora and fauna and the nature of Shiretoko, as there were no other participants, and time flew by. We also had the chance to see a majestic falcon spreading its wings against the backdrop of Furepe Falls, and after the tour, we were kindly taken to a spot where we could see wild bears catching salmon (we didn't see them that day, but when we tried again the next day, we were able to see them clearly—what an emotional experience!). It was worth much more than the price we paid. Thank you very much.

We booked this tour which was provided by Wokkys and really enjoyed it. Wokkys was very flexible and we were able to book a private tour for just the two of us and only spend as long as we wanted on the "lesson" before setting off down the river. Toshi, our guide and instructor, spoke good English and was extremely nice, as well as knowledgeable. Although we have both kayaked a little before, Toshi showed us some basic strokes and made sure we were comfortable with our kayaks before setting off. This was very helpful as I have never kayaked on a river with rapids before. Wokkys also provided everything we needed - drysuits, gloves, booties, helmet etc. Toshi and his colleague Buchi also took lots of photos of us and sent them later. It was a great day!

Although it was relying on others, I ended up being able to eat wakasagi for lunch. The set meal at the cafeteria was also delicious and reasonably priced. During the second attempt after lunch, we managed to catch one fish each. The results weren't great, but it was fun.

その時、他の参加者の女子大生が、帰る地元の釣り人に話しかけたら「今日は釣れない日だから少ない」と言っていたので、地元の釣り人が少ないのでは素人はダメかと思っていたら、その人からおすそ分けで、ワカサギをゲット。
他力本願ですがお昼にワカサギを食べれる事になりました。食堂の定食も美味しくてリーズナブルです。
食後の再チャレンジで何とか1人一匹づつ釣れました。
成果はイマイチでしたが楽しかったです。

The weather was nice, making it even more stunning. The current was more challenging than it looked, and I had a valuable experience being swept away easily. Jumping into the deep water from a rock nearly 10 meters high was thrilling and fun. Water got into my nose and ears, but I didn't mind and just enjoyed myself. It was more thrilling and enjoyable than rafting, so I want to go again.

鼻にも耳にもすごく水は入りますが気にせず遊びます。^^
ラフティングよりスリルがあって楽しかったのでまた行きたいです。

I hadn't swum in years, so I was a bit anxious about entering the water at first, but there’s no need to worry as the instructor pulls a float for those who can't swim. With life jackets, fins, and masks provided, there’s no concern about sinking, and I quickly got used to it. Of course, those who can swim can dive in freely.

We were divided into two large groups, with about ten people in total, and we explored underwater at a leisurely pace. We were able to see sea urchins, sea hares, and other strange marine creatures that are not usually visible. Entering the Blue Cave and going a bit deeper, I was moved when I turned around and saw the entire water surface illuminated with a divine blue light.

The duration of 1 hour and 45 minutes was quite suitable for beginners. As long as you’re not resistant to water, this is an activity that anyone can enjoy, so definitely participate and create wonderful summer memories!

体験場所は海水浴などもできるとてもきれいな海、美国。集合場所などはわかりやすく、車で道沿いを走っていくと、迷うことはありませんでした。
初めて海を探索する初心者向きのアクティビティーです。もう何年も泳いでいないので、海に入ること自体最初は少し不安でしたが、 泳ぎができない人でもインストラクターがビートバンを引いてくれるので特に心配はいりません。しっかりとライフジャケット、フィンやマスクを装備するので、沈む心配はもちろんなく、すぐに慣れました。泳げる人はもちろん、進んでどんどん潜っていって大丈夫です。この回は、大きく2グループに分かれて、計10名程でゆっくりと水中探索をしました。
普段は見ることのできない、ウニやアメフラシ、その他不思議な見たことのない海中生物を見ることができました。青の洞窟に入り、少し奥の方まで行き、振り返ると水面全体に神々しい青の光が見られた時は感動的でした。
1時間45分という時間も初心者レベルにはわりとちょうど良かったです。
水に抵抗さえなければ、誰でも楽しめるアクティビティーなので、ぜひ一度参加して、楽しい夏の思い出をつくりましょう。

I misunderstood that the snorkeling at the Blue Cave would last 45 minutes after the cruise from the boat, so it surprisingly went by quickly at the cave close to the beach. Perhaps due to the season, the underwater visibility wasn't very good. The color of the Blue Cave didn't appear very blue, and it might have been a timing issue since I participated at 3 PM. The surface of the water didn't look blue at all; it appeared greenish. Since I was looking from the surface, I thought it would be nicer if there wasn't any trash. Are there various points in the Blue Cave? There might be more beautiful spots, but I probably won't repeat the experience. The shop staff were interesting, kind, and nice. The road from Sapporo to Shakotan was really congested, and what should have taken less than two hours ended up taking three, making me worry that I would miss lunch. There were restaurants near the shop where you could eat seafood bowls.

I was worried about the heavy rain on the day of the event and called in advance, but I was told, "The sea in Shakotan is calm with no waves, so there’s no problem." As the rain intensified during the journey, I felt a bit anxious.

I walked to the beach wearing the marine boots and wetsuit that I had pre-ordered. The sea was not as cold as I expected, and we swam to the cave with the help of a friendly instructor. The water was very clear. Along the way, the instructor explained the marine life we found, let us hold some, and we passed through shallow areas where seaweed stretched up to the surface.

The cave we aimed for was much narrower and darker than I had imagined. We all held onto a rope and moved deeper with our eyes closed. It was a bit scary since I couldn't gauge the distance and there were rocks if I reached out. This cave was also home to bats, which surprised me as there were so many. Please check the actual colors on-site.

Even those who can't swim can safely enter the water with a life jacket, so there's no need to worry. For those who lack confidence in swimming, you can be pulled along. This experience is also recommended for those who are a bit unsure about swimming. It’s nice to receive the data from the underwater camera as well. ロープを全員で持って目をつぶって奥に進みます。
これが距離感覚も無いし手を伸ばせば岩だしで、ちょっと怖い。
そしてこの洞窟は蝙蝠が飛ぶ洞窟でした。
沢山居てそっちにもビックリ。
実際の色はぜひ現地で確認してみてください。

泳げない方でもライフジャケットで沈む事は無いので安心して海に入れます。
泳ぎに自信の無い方は引っ張ってもらえます。
ちょっと泳ぎに自信がないって方にもオススメ出来る内容でした。
水中カメラで撮ってくださったデータを頂けるのもうれしいですね。

Last year, I visited Shakotan for the first time and fell in love at first sight with the stunning Shakotan Blue.

This year, I decided to try something different and challenge myself with night snorkeling!

The day before, there was heavy rain in Hokkaido, so I was worried about whether we could actually snorkel with water overflowing from various places. However, when I called to confirm, I received the reassuring words, "Of course you can! We did it even during the day when it was raining!" So, off I went for my first snorkeling and night snorkeling adventure!

Since it was my first time, the explanations were clear and thorough. After putting on the wetsuit and life jacket, we walked about five minutes to the beach and entered the water! The beach was very calm, with no waves at all!

I was really anxious because I can't swim (even though I was the one who wanted to do night snorkeling, haha), but I held onto a kickboard and was pulled by the instructor. It was super easy! When I thought about it, I had fins and a life jacket on, so I could swim after all!

When I looked into the water, I was surprised to see so many different fish! On the sea urchin road, there were tons of sea urchins! As expected of Shakotan!

I also got to hear many funny stories from the instructor, and they even dove down to collect starfish and sea urchins for me to touch!

While doing all this, we arrived at a cave!

With my heart racing, I turned off my flashlight inside the cave, and when I peered into the pitch-black sea, I saw shimmering bioluminescent plankton... I couldn't help but exclaim, "Wow!" while waving my hands around. The bioluminescent plankton react to stimuli, so as I looked while being pulled along, I saw them scatter, responding to the instructor's fins, like countless shooting stars flowing by.

I learned that bioluminescent plankton can be seen anywhere in Japan, but because there are fewer plankton remains in the sea around Hokkaido, they can be seen more beautifully here than in any other sea in Japan.

Thank you for such a fun time! The night sea was magical, and I had a precious experience that left me very satisfied. I think I might get hooked on snorkeling!

前日に北海道で大雨ということもあり、当日は滝のようにいろんな所から水が溢れており、シュノーケルできるのか不安でしたが、

当日、確認のためにした電話では「もちろんできますよ‼︎日中も雨でもやってました‼︎」との心強いお言葉をいただき、いざ、初めてのシュノーケル&ナイトシュノーケルへ‼︎笑

初めてということでわかりやすく、丁寧な説明をしていただき、ウェットスーツやライフジャケット等を装備ののち、5分くらい歩いた海岸から着水っ‼︎
とても穏やかな海岸のようで波は全くなかったです‼︎

泳げないため、不安で不安で仕方なかったのですが、(自分からナイトシュノーケルやりたいといったくせに笑)ビート板に捕まってインストラクターの方に引っ張ってもらいました♪
すっごく楽チンでした♪笑
よく考えたら足ヒレ付けてライフジャケット着るので泳げました笑

海の中を覗くといろんな魚がたくさんいてびっくり‼︎
うにロードでは大量のうにがいました‼︎さすが積丹‼︎‼︎

インストラクターの方のおもしろい話もいっぱい聞けて、笑

夜光虫は日本中どこでも見れるとのことですが、北海道の海ではプランクトンの死骸が少ないため、日本中のどこの海よりも綺麗に見ることができるそうです☆★

夜の海は幻想的で、貴重な体験をさせてもらい、大満足でした♪♪

We started paddling from the Chitose River, so we were able to see fish, and the kids were very satisfied.

Ido, who taught us how to paddle and guided us, was very kind, took many photos, and was great with the kids. Plus, he recommended a delicious pork bowl restaurant! It was really tasty♡

The only thing I found disappointing was that the weather was too nice, and the glare on the lake's surface was strong, so we couldn't see the scenery reflected on the water. Still, since we were in a clear kayak, I could see well through the bottom, even though the reflections and waves made it hard to see outside!

If I have the chance again, I hope to see the scenery as if floating in the sky!

私が唯一残念だったのは、天気が良すぎて湖面の照り返しが強く、湖面に景色が映る感じではなかったことです。
それでもクリアカヤックだったので、カヤックの外だと光の反射や波でよく見えない湖の中も、股の間からよく見えて楽しめました！

また、機会があれば、空に浮いているかのような景色が見れればと思います！

(参考までに、服装は子供も長袖長ズボンのラッシュガードにして問題なかったと思います。子供にはその上にウィンドブレーカーを着せました。

袖やズボンが少し濡れた程度でした。子供たちは、岸に上がってから寒がったので、靴と羽織り物は防水袋(防水袋)に入れて持って行けばよかったかも、と思います。

Went fishing today (March 7, 2016) and had so much fun. Got to drill our own hole, instructions on how to fish and sat in a nice tent. Also gave us handwarmers. Best of all, we went to a restaurant to have it prepared tempura style as an appetizer and ordered lunch...so delicious!

The guides were very attentive and patient. Spent our last day here with lasting memories and wanting to return again. Arigato Jin and Hiro (?)

We went in mid-February. Although it was snowing, in the tent it was warm so we could focus on the fishing.
First we made a hole in the ice, set up chairs and then started fishing like they told us, and we caught fish! It was kind cool being on the ice like that too.
In the kitchen area they will make tempura out of the smelt you catch for free, and we also had lunch their as the lunch sets were tasty and reasonably priced.
