A caldera lake or crater lake in Akan National Park is Lake Kussharo that is said to freeze over during the winter. Spot some unique wildlife along with the tiny island in the middle of the lake.
See the steam rising from the volcanic mountain. Mt. Ioh translates to Mountain of Sulfur and like its name, it was formally a mining ground for sulfur.
Make way to Mashu Onsen hot springs where you take lunch to prepare for the rest of the afternoon!
Another iconic crater lake in the Lake Akan national park is Lake Mashu. See the beautiful lake covered in snow and ice during the winter season.
Enjoy some free time at Lake Akan Hot Springs. Take your time to explore the vast nature of Hokkaido or even take a quick dip in the hot springs.
