Evening Light Up at Lake Shikotsu Ice Festival Tour from Sapporo


The atmosphere at night is magical

Walk into a winter wonderland at the Lake Shikotsu Ice Festival. Watch as the whole area turns into a magical winter world of colorful lights and catch the firework displays on the weekends.

Experience this unique Hokkaido festival after dark. The ice sculptures (which appear light blue in the day) at night are transformed into cool icy art, lighting up the landscape with brilliant colors. Stroll though the magical bright ice formations, explore a sparkling ice cave or sample local treats.

On weekends, the tour is extended by 30 minutes, so guests can enjoy the special firework displays over the sculptures.

Tour Duration: 5 hours 25 minutes (5 hours and 50 minutes on days with firework displays)

    On days with firework displays, time at the festival will be extended by 30 minutes.

  • 19:35 Rest at Wattsu Service Area (15 mins)
    On days when there are firework displays, the bus will arrive at the rest stop at 20:05.
  • 20:30 Sapporo Clock Tower (drop-off point)
    The oldest building in Sapporo, it was built in 1878 and is one of the last surviving Western-style structures from the Meiji era.

    On days when there are firework displays, the bus will arrive at this stop at 21:00.
  • 20:35 Tour ends at Sapporo Station Bus Terminal (21:05 on days with fireworks)
    • Please arrive at the check in counter with your printed voucher at least 15 minutes before the tour departure time.
    • For children under the age of 6 who require a seat, please book as 'Child 6-11'.
Required Items to Bring & Attire
    • It will be very cold at Lake Shikotsu, so please make sure you dress warmly.
Additional Note(s)
    • At Lake Shikotsu show your tour ticket at Restaurant Memere and get a free glass of amazake (sweet sake), green tea, or soft drink (orange juice, Calpis, Coca Cola, melon soda and oolong tea), as well as a 10% discount on all other drinks.
    • If highways are impassible, this tour will be cancelled.
    • Depending on traffic and parking conditions at the Lake Shikotsu Ice Festival, the arrival time may be delayed. If the bus is delayed, it may not be possible to see the fireworks.
    • The bus will not stop at Shin Chitose Airport or Minami Chitose Station.
    • Duration of sightseeing is subject to change due to traffic and the number of passengers.
    • Arrival times may be earlier than scheduled due to holiday breaks or facility rules.
    • Depending on traffic or bad weather, the return bus to Sapporo Station may be delayed. Please allow enough time to make connecting transfers.
    • Tours may be cancelled due to natural disasters and road closure due to marathon races etc. Please contact us and check the situation with the tour in the event of abnormal weather.
    • The area of the Ice Festival is very slippery, so please walk with caution.
    • On days when there are firework displays, the time at Lake Shikotsu will be extended by 30 mins, so the arrival time at Sapporo will also be 30 minutes later than indicated on the schedule. The firework displays at Lake Shikotsu are scheduled for Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.
    • This tour will be held only in Japanese.
