Meet at Kuromatsunai Tourism Association
Practice riding a cross bike in the plaza, adjust the bike, and learn basic hand signals from the guide. Cross bikes are easy to ride, even for beginners!

Begin at Mt. Shamanbe and ride along the Shizukari coastline. The firm sand of Shizukari Beach allows for smooth cycling. Cross the pass to Kuromatsunai.

Located in southwestern Hokkaido, Kuromatsunai is a unique satoyama area with mountains, wetlands, rivers, and seas. Known as the "Northernmost Beech Town," it marks the northern limit of beech trees in Japan.

From late September, enjoy the vibrant autumn foliage. By late October, the beech forest turns golden, and by November, the trees shed their leaves, revealing the raw beauty of the forest.

Take breaks as needed, including a lunch stop. Even with some uphill sections, the long downhill stretches and rest breaks make it manageable for all.

Reach the Sea of Japan at Suttsu Bay, where wind turbines spin along the coast.

Complete the 50 km journey from the Pacific Ocean to the Sea of Japan. The ride feels surprisingly quick on a bike—great job!
