Restrictions

  • Participants should generally be between 10 and 75 years old, able to go up and down stairs without difficulty, and capable of walking more than 6 km on their own.
  • Guests with serious pre-existing conditions related to the circulatory, respiratory, or nervous systems must declare their medical condition and any medications in advance and bring the necessary medication on the day of the tour. Participation may be declined depending on the medical condition or physical condition on the day. Pregnant guests and those participating after consuming alcohol are not permitted to join.
  • If such conditions are not declared in advance and are discovered on the day of the tour, participation will be refused and the designated cancellation fee will still apply.
  • Pick-up and drop-off services are limited to the Utoro area. Shari Station, Rausu, and Hotel Chi no Hate are outside the service area.

Other requirements

  • The time stated in the email sent by VELTRA on the day before the tour is for reference only. Detailed information will be provided directly by the guide via mobile phone after the evening of the previous day. (For guests using the pick-up service, the confirmed pick-up time will be provided.)

Required items to bring & attire

    Towel / Hat / Insect repellent / Sunscreen / Camera / Personal medication / Backpack (to keep hands free) / Drink (water or tea)

    *Brown bears are highly sensitive to food odors. Bringing food is prohibited as it may attract wildlife.
  • [Clothing]
    Please wear a hat, long-sleeved top, long pants, and comfortable walking shoes or trekking shoes.
  • *To prevent attracting hornets, please avoid wearing dark-colored clothing and using perfume or hair styling products.
    *Gaiters and shorts are not recommended, as they increase the risk of mosquito and tick bites.
    *In spring and autumn, light down jackets, fleece layers, gloves, hats that cover the ears, and thermal innerwear may be needed depending on the weather. Please prepare accordingly by checking the weekly forecast.
  • *In case of rain or muddy conditions, rubber boots (free of charge) and rainwear (500 yen) are available for rental. If you wish to use the rental items, please specify your size (e.g., ○○ cm, Women’s M) in the booking form.

Additional notes

  • The activity schedule is subject to change or cancellation due to weather or traffic conditions.
  • Binoculars are available for free rental (not available in rainy weather or heavy fog; no reservation required).
  • If boardwalks are closed due to snow conditions or brown bear activity, the tour may be canceled or an alternative plan will be offered depending on the guide’s schedule.
  • To ensure an enjoyable experience, guests are kindly asked for their cooperation. The company cannot be held responsible for accidents caused by a guest’s intentional actions or negligence.
  • The tour will operate in light rain; however, it will be canceled in severe weather if safety cannot be ensured. If the tour is canceled before the start, no charges will apply. If the tour is discontinued after it has started due to sudden weather changes, no refund will be issued.

  • Any cancellations made between 00:00 local time, 7 business days to 00:00 local time, 3 business days prior to the activity will be subject to a charge of 20% of the total amount.
  • Any cancellations made between 00:00 local time, 3 business days to 18:00 local time, 1 business days prior to the activity will be subject to a charge of 50% of the total amount.
  • Any cancellations made after 18:00 local time, 1 business days prior to the activity will be subject to a charge of 100% of the total amount.
