In the morning, a brown bear appeared at Shiretoko Five Lakes, so we quickly changed our plans and went trekking in the primeval forest in the afternoon. I was a little nervous since it was my first trekking experience, but I walked along a pathless route in the great outdoors, experiencing an extraordinary space like never before! Along the way, a chipmunk appeared looking for acorns, and it was so cute. I was also able to see bear claw marks and footprints. 前日が雨であった為、少し不安でしたが朝から快晴であった為無事に参加する事ができました。
朝に知床五湖にヒグマが出没した為、急遽午後に予定していた原生林のトレッキングを行いました。
初めてのトレッキングで少し不安でしたが、今まで体験した事のないような大自然の道なき道を歩いていき非日常の空間を体験できました！
途中でシマリスがどんぐりを探しに現れてとても可愛かったです。
熊の爪痕や足跡なども見る事ができました。

I was a bit anxious about joining alone, especially with the recent reports of brown bear sightings, but walking with a group of about ten people led by Mr. Umebayashi, who has over 20 years of guiding experience, made me feel very secure and allowed me to enjoy the forests of Shiretoko.

Mr. Umebayashi, who is from Osaka, had an interesting way of speaking (in standard Japanese) that was both entertaining and informative, hitting all the right points and providing rich learning experiences. He guided us through the history of the Shiretoko forests, recent changes, and challenges, sharing many insights that I wouldn't have understood on my own, which left me very satisfied.

My understanding of Shiretoko has deepened, and I would love to come back with my husband next time. The atmosphere among the group was also friendly, allowing us to relax and enjoy the experience. Thank you very much.

There was still snow on the mountains, and the reflection on the lakeside was beautiful. The cherry blossoms were also starting to bloom here and there, adding a special touch of pink to the mountains. I was lucky that it coincided with the rare blooming period of the skunk cabbage. It seems that soon it will be the right time for bears to eat. This time, I was very satisfied to see black woodpeckers and deer from the walking trails. The guide was also very good.

前回は9月始めに訪問しました。今回は5月中旬でのツアー参加でしたが、また違った景色を見せて頂きとても良かったです。山には雪が残っていて、湖畔に映る姿も綺麗でした。桜もちらほら咲いていて山にピンク色の入る感じは特別感がありました。そして「水芭蕉」の沢山咲いている貴重な時期にも重なってラッキーでした。もう少しすると熊にとっては食べ頃らしいです。

From start to finish, the experience far exceeded our expectations. Our guide, Taki, was exceptional—knowledgeable, organized, and incredibly attentive to both safety and enjoyment. The day was filled with unforgettable moments, from snowshoeing through serene landscapes to spotting local wildlife. Taki's passion for the area and his thoughtful guidance truly made the tour special.

We cannot recommend this tour—and especially Taki—highly enough. If you're visiting Abashiri and want a meaningful, well-curated adventure, this is absolutely the way to go.

This tour will definitely be a core memory that will never be forgotten. Taki San speaks very good English and is well aware and informed of the history of the Eastern Hokkaido region aside from being super friendly and hospitable. He made sure that I enjoyed every second of it. I am happy that I wont be worried anymore if I ever come back to Eastern Hokkaido as Peacan Kikaku is the answer.

I applied individually the day before and participated. The morning session was fully booked, but I was able to join in the afternoon after changing the time.
