It was a slightly chilly day, but we set sail as planned. However, a tsunami warning was issued, and I thought it might be canceled. Following the captain's instructions that it was safer offshore, we continued the cruise. Fortunately, we were lucky enough to witness the scene of a whale spouting and diving. The captain's various explanations were eye-opening, making for a fun two and a half hours!

少し肌寒い日でしたが、予定通り出港、しかし直ぐに津波警報が出され、中止かと思いましたが、沖合いの方が安全との船長指示に従い、クルーズ続行ですね～幸いにクジラの潮吹きから潜水のシーンが目撃出来て、ラッキーでした～

It was foggy, and I had low expectations of seeing anything, but a pod of orcas appeared out of the mist. Thanks to the crew's skills, we got really close, about 3 meters away from the orcas! They seemed accustomed to humans and appeared to be observing us and playing, so I didn't feel any fear. We also encountered a sperm whale, and I was deeply moved by its grandeur. It was a different kind of excitement compared to videos. I heard that there are days when you might not see anything at all, but it seemed we were lucky to see so many orcas.

濃霧でしたが出航、こりゃ何も見られないかなと期待薄でしたが霧の中から鯱の群れが現れ、船員さんのテクニックによりすごく近くまで寄って下さり、3mくらいの距離てシャチを見られました！シャチの方も慣れているのか、人間を観察して遊んでいる感じで、恐怖心は感じませんでした。マッコウクジラにも出会えて、その雄大さに感動しきりでした。動画とかとは違う感動でした。全く出会え無い日も有るとの事でしたが、シャチがウジャウジャいる様子が見られ、ラッキーだったようです。

I didn't have high expectations, thinking I would be lucky to see orcas once or twice, but I was able to see so many orcas multiple times, and I was extremely satisfied. The captain maneuvered the boat to a great viewing position, and the guide informed us in advance about the points where the orcas would appear, allowing me to take many photos. I was truly moved!

１～２回見られればラッキーなのかなとあまり期待していませんでしたが、何と沢山のシャチを何度も見ることができて、大変満足でした。船頭さんも見やすい位置に船を操ってくれ、ガイドさんもシャチが出て来るポイントを事前に教えてくれたので、写真も沢山取ることができました。本当に感激でした！

At the end of September, I went on a cruise on a day with not much whitecaps. Early on, we encountered many dolphins swimming, and during the approximately two-hour cruise, we saw three sperm whales. One of them was quite close to us. We also spotted a beaked whale swimming in the distance. I had a 0-year-old baby with me, but we participated using a baby carrier, and the baby slept the entire time during the cruise. There were two guides and one driver, making a total of three staff members, which made us feel safe while on board.

I traveled from Abashiri, but on the Rausu side, it was foggy and rainy, and even though it was summer, it was very cold on the boat. It was quite difficult to encounter whales. I could see splashes in the distance. I would have been happy if I could have seen them a bit closer. For a beginner photographer, capturing whales and dolphins was challenging. The crew members were very polite!

I used the service on July 16, 2022.
I received a confirmation call the day before, which was helpful as they informed me about parking and the weather.
During the ride, I was surrounded by an incredible number of orcas, and the two and a half hours flew by in an instant!
It seemed like the orcas were in a good mood today, coming right up next to the boat, rolling on their backs, and I even got to see them jump!
The staff were kind, and it became a wonderful memory!

2022年7月16日に利用させていただきました。
前日には確認の電話がありました。駐車場や天気のことについて教えてくれるので、ありがたかったです。
乗船中はすごい量のシャチに囲まれて、2時間半が一瞬で終わりました！
今日はシャチもご機嫌だったようで、ボートのすぐそばまで来たり、仰向けになったり、ジャンプも見れました！

Since it’s a natural experience, there was uncertainty about whether we would see anything, but fortunately, we were able to see orcas. They were quite close, and since they were in a pod, we could see several orcas swimming in a straight line. Additionally, we also saw dolphins and seabirds. Depending on the time and day, there may be differences, but I encourage anyone interested to participate. However, one point to note is that for those coming from Utoro, please make sure to dress warmly. The temperature can be significantly different over the sea, sometimes more than 10 degrees. From a distance, I was able to see the spouts and diving scenes of two sperm whales, and I spotted a pod of dolphins about three to four times! The captain and crew kindly provided directions and locations, and due to the strong waves, they also alerted us to the water splashes and guided us inside the boat, allowing for good observation.

I participated in a tour in late September, but it was quite cold, possibly due to the weather not being very good, so I recommend bringing a down jacket or similar. I brought binoculars, but since the whales kept surfacing and diving, I found it difficult to focus, so I felt it was okay not to have them.

I definitely want to visit during the summer season to see orcas!

I was worried about the impact of the typhoon, but despite some waves, the boat set sail safely. Before long, the Risso's dolphin showed up. However, they didn't swim alongside the boat or jump out of the water (apparently, they are not the type of dolphins that perform such flashy displays); they only briefly showed their upper bodies while swimming through the water. It was quite difficult to take photos due to the boat rocking and their fast swimming. After a while, the Risso's dolphins disappeared, and I occasionally felt the size and proximity of Kunashir Island, which appeared hazy in the distance, while standing in the boat with no seat until we returned to port. I'm really disappointed that I couldn't see the sperm whale I was hoping for.

Unfortunately, it was a foggy and cloudy day, and even when we got close to the border with Russia, nothing appeared! I thought today might be a bust. For about an hour after departure, I dozed off inside the boat. Just as we were about to turn back, a boat that had left earlier spotted a whale, and on the way there, we also saw dolphins. We were super lucky to see both whales before they dove down! They say once they dive, they won't come back up for 40 minutes. After that, a staff member on the upper deck spotted a pod of orcas two miles away! In the end, we were able to see dolphins, whales, and orcas, including a mother and her calf. I'm so grateful to the captain and all the staff. All the staff were young women and very cheerful!

**What I Liked:**
- It was a large, new ship!
- Although I couldn't see the whale's body clearly, I was able to see its back and watch it spouting water near the surface several times. I also saw a pod of dolphins.
- Actually, what I was most looking forward to was seeing Kunashiri Island in the Northern Territories, so it was very moving to be able to see the long silhouette of the island even though it was cloudy.
- The staff kindly encouraged those suffering from seasickness to move to the back of the first floor where there was less motion, and they provided tissues, plastic bags, and wet wipes.

**What Was Disappointing:**
- On the day of the trip, the waves were high and the ship rocked quite a bit. Despite taking motion sickness medication, my child got seasick and was down within an hour. I had to accompany them to care for them. This varies from person to person and isn't an issue with the tour company.
The ship we were on was relatively large, so the rocking might not have been too bad compared to smaller vessels.

However, when you do get seasick, it becomes difficult to get off the ship, turning the time into a painful experience, so I think it's best for those who are prone to seasickness to take proper precautions.

・クジラの胴体ははっきり見えませんでしたが、背中と、海面近くで潮を吹いているのを何度も見られました。イルカの群れも見ました。
・実は私が一番期待していたのは、北方領土の国後島を見ることでしたので、曇っていながら長い島陰を見ることができ、感慨深かったです。
・船酔いで苦しんでいる方に、スタッフの方々が揺れの少ない一階後方へ移動するよう声かけして下さり、ティッシュやビニール袋、ウエットティッシュなどを提供して下さったこと。

❮残念だったこと❯
・当日は波が高くかなり船が揺れ、酔い止めを飲んでいたにもかかわらず、子どもが船酔いで一時間もしないうちにダウン。親も途中から看病に付き添いました。これは個人差があり、ツアー会社の問題ではありませんね。
今回乗った船は大きめの船だったので、まだ揺れはましな方だったのでは？

でも、船酔いになると、降りるに降りられず、辛いだけの時間になってしまうので、弱い方はしっかり対策されるのが良いと思います。

We participated as a couple. We took a bus from our accommodation in Utoro to Rausu Port. We checked in at Hamanasu, and then adjusted our time by shopping at the "Road Station." The cruise departed at 1 PM. The weather was nice, there was little rocking, and it was comfortable. We encountered orcas in about 15 minutes and went into the pod. Although we were told that orcas are scarce at this time of year, we saw many orcas. They swam under the boat and surfaced on the other side, which was very exciting.

However, we spent two hours here, and there was no chance to see whales or dolphins. The guide explained that "if you see orcas, the chances of seeing whales decrease." I see... but it was a bit disappointing. Still, I was really glad to see so many orcas and their various surface behaviors.

Also, this is unrelated to the tour, but there were no buses returning from Rausu to Utoro (there's only one bus that I reserved the day before), so we had no choice but to take a taxi back. By the way, if you participate in the 10 AM cruise, you will have to take a taxi to get there. A day trip from Utoro is a bit tough without a rental car.

はまなすさんで受付、その後「道の駅」で買い物をしたりして時間調整。
13時クルーズ出発。天気もよく、揺れも少なく、快適でした。15分程でシャチに遭遇。そして群れの中へ。「この時期シャチは少ない」と説明がありましたが、たくさんのシャチが見れました。船の下を潜って反対側から浮上してきたり、大興奮でした。
ただここで2時間時間を費やし、クジラ、イルカ等を見るチャンスはありませんでした。ガイドさんから「シャチが見れるとクジラを見れる確率は低くなる」と説明がありました。なるほど…でもちょっと残念な気も。
でも本当にたくさんのシャチのいろいろな水面行動が見れ、よかったです。
あと…ツアーとは関係ありませんが、羅臼からウトロに戻るバスがなく(前日に予約した羅臼に１台しかない)タクシーで戻るしかありませんでした。ちなみに10時のクルーズに参加する場合は、行きがタクシーになってしまいます。ウトロからの日帰りはレンタカーでないと少し厳しいです。

I joined this tour because I wanted to see orcas. I thought it would be hard to see wild orcas, but I participated with some hope, and luckily, I was able to see several orcas. Even without a professional camera, they came close enough for me to take photos and videos with my iPhone. Also, it was great that I could use binoculars to spot orcas in the distance.

シャチが見たくて、このツアーに参加しました。でも、野生のシャチなんてなかなか見られないんだろうなと思いながら、期待もしながら参加しましましたが、運良くシャチを複数頭見ることができました。
本格的なカメラがなくても近くまで寄ってきてくれたので、写真や動画をiPhoneで撮ることができました。
あと、遠くのシャチを見るために双眼鏡でも確認できるので、よかったです。

During my previous visit, I wasn't able to see the orcas. This time, I took another boat ride for a second chance, and I was finally able to see the orcas! I'm so glad I went. It was truly an emotional experience! I also noticed that they now offer rental cold-weather gear, which shows that they have improved based on everyone's feedback.

以前参加した際、シャチに会うことが出来ませんでした。
今回リベンジでまた船に乗りましたが、念願のシャチに会うことが出来ました！行ってよかった。本当に感動の体験です！

While gazing at Kunashiri Island, we searched for orcas as the boat headed near the border. The weather was calm that day, with little rocking, but when we spotted our target, we raced at full speed! I followed the orca's dorsal fin with my eyes and pressed the camera shutter, but since I'm not a wildlife photographer, I couldn't capture great shots. Still, I felt like a photographer (laughs). I was thrilled to see a sperm whale, which is rare at this time of year! And the speed of the Pacific white-sided dolphins we saw on our way back to port was incredible... If only my eyesight were better (laughs). Next time, I want to go bear watching.

当日はなぎで、揺れが少ない、でも、お目当てを見つけると、全速力で走行！

The summer in Rausu is often shrouded in deep fog, and unfortunately, we were unable to see any whales. We ran out to sea in the cold and drifted for a long time waiting for a whale to appear, but in the end, none showed up. We did encounter a pod of dolphins, though. Meeting a single whale in the vast ocean might be a miracle, but still, it's incredibly disappointing.

I participated on a sunny day in early July. The ship was large, so the rocking wasn't too bothersome, and since the sea was calm that day, it was a very comfortable cruise. However, the perceived temperature in the northern sea is low, and without a thicker layer of clothing, the wind on the water can feel quite cold, so I recommend bringing a jacket (they also provide rentals on board).

Before departure, I was told that the chances of seeing orcas or whales weren't very high, so I wasn't expecting much and thought I would just enjoy the beautiful Shiretoko mountains and Kunashir Island from the sea. To my surprise, I encountered orcas, whales, and even dolphins! It might be rare to be this lucky, but the crew coordinated with other boats to search for them and even used a microphone in the water to listen for whale calls, so I’m really glad I participated!

The sight of the whale raising its tail and diving into the sea was truly moving! It was the best experience of my trip to Shiretoko! I couldn't capture it at all with my smartphone camera, though!

7月初旬の晴れた日に参加しました。船は大きい船で揺れはそれほど気になりません、また参加した日は海も穏やかだったので非常に快適なクルーズでした。ただ、やはり北の海の体感温度は低く少し厚手の防寒がないと海上の風がかなり冷たく感じますので1枚上着を持ってくことをお勧めします。（船上でも貸してくれます。）
出発前はシャチもクジラも会える確率はそれほど高くないとのことだったのであまり期待せず海上から綺麗な知床の山々と国後島でも見ようかと思っていましたらなんとシャチもクジラもさらにイルカにも出会えました！！こんなにラッキーなのは珍しいのかもしれませんが、海上で他の船と連携をとって探してくれたり海の中にマイクを入れてクジラの声を聞いたりして探してくれていたので本当参加して良かったです！
特にクジラが尾っぽをあげて海へ潜る様は感動ものです！！知床旅行で1番いい経験でした！
さすがにスマホのカメラでは全く取れませんでしたが笑

I've loved orcas since I was a child and was captivated by their presence at aquariums. When I learned that I could see wild orcas from a boat in Shiretoko Rausu during this season, I finally made the visit. The Hamanasu boat is large, and they provide warm jackets for passengers (the waters around Rausu can still be cold even in early summer), making it comfortable. Unfortunately, the weather that day was foggy, and I was worried about whether we would see any orcas. However, suddenly, a nearly 2-meter tall male orca's dorsal fin appeared on the surface! Other male and female orcas also showed up! Swimming in the calm waters of Shiretoko, the black and white orcas near the boat were breathtakingly beautiful and majestic. Yet, their playful behavior as they swam alongside each other conveyed the affection they have for their families, which was incredibly endearing. Although it was unfortunate that the weather was not clear, if it had been sunny, we would have been able to see the orcas against the backdrop of the snow-capped Shiretoko mountain range or the silhouette of Kunashir Island. It was truly a precious experience that could be called a "miraculous encounter." I definitely want to go again!

子供の頃からシャチが大好きで水族館で見る姿にくぎ付けでした。知床羅臼で自然のシャチをこの時期、船から見る事ができると知り、やっと訪れることができました。はまなすさんは船も大きくて、防寒ジャケットも船で貸してくれ（羅臼の海は初夏でもまだ寒いです）快適です。この日は天気が生憎の霧模様で、遠くまで見えない為シャチに会えるか不安でした。ですが、突如、海上に現れた２ｍ近くの大きなオスのシャチの背びれ！その他にも別のオスシャチやメスのシャチも現れてくれました！！知床の穏やかな海の中、船のすぐそばで泳ぐ白黒カラーリングのシャチは息を飲むほど美しく雄大です。ですが、仲間と並走して泳いだり、遊んだりする姿は、なんとも可愛らしく、家族を大切にするシャチの愛情が伝わってきます。この日は残念でしたが、晴れていれば、雪を頂く知床連山、もしくは国後島のシルエットを背景にシャチの姿を見る事ができるでしょう。まさに『奇跡の出会い』とも言えるような貴重な体験でした。またぜひ、行きたいと思います！
