We had a wonderful trip to Kanazawa with eight classmates using two cars. Thank you for making the reservation for Myoryuji Temple (Ninja Temple); it was a great help. We learned about the tree growing inside the "Fuji toshi" house in the Higashi Chaya District. It was a fantastic opportunity to experience such rich history. It turned out to be a very good trip. Initially, I had planned to take a highway bus, but there were no available seats, so I used this service for the first time. They picked me up at the station and dropped me off right in front of the hotel, which made it very convenient as I didn't have to worry about my luggage. I hadn't done much research beforehand, but I was guided to recommended places and shops, allowing me to experience locations I wouldn't have visited on my own, which was a lot of fun. Since there were many people, we opted for a chartered taxi instead of a tour bus. The driver was very kind and introduced us to various things. Although we ended up waiting longer than expected at the lunch restaurant, we were really grateful that they extended the plan time for free.
Regarding the plan itself, the time spent exploring Shirakawa-go was about an hour, excluding lunch, and honestly, I think that was a bit short. On the day, we could only visit a small part of the area, and it was disappointing that we couldn't go to the observation deck. If you want to take your time to explore and take photos, it might be better to skip lunch and use that time for sightseeing.
In the afternoon, we went to Suganuma in Gokayama. Compared to Shirakawa-go, there were hardly any people. For those who are not fond of crowds or want to play in the snow, I would recommend this place. But overall, it was a very enjoyable day and made for great memories. Thank you very much.

もっとゆっくり見学したり写真を撮ったりしたいのなら、昼食を抜いてその時間を散策に使ったほうがいいかもしれません。
午後は五箇山の菅沼に行きました。白川郷と比べて人が全然少ない。人混みが苦手な人や雪で遊びたい人にはこっちがおすすめかな。
でもとても楽しかった一日で、良い思い出になりました。ありがとうございました。

I absolutely recommend a sightseeing taxi for up to four people. This time, it was a trip with four women to Kanazawa for the first time. Our goal was to eat delicious food and visit Shirakawa-go. Initially, we considered a bus tour, but we switched to a taxi tour. As a result, it was a great decision. The flexibility for getting in and out was excellent (it might depend on the driver), and since it was just us, we didn't have to worry about being noisy. Our driver was a woman of the same age, which made for a very satisfying six hours. When we requested to be dropped off at Omicho Market, she responded, "Of course!" with a smile. On the day of our trip, there was an incident with part of the highway being closed, requiring a detour. Even during the busy lunch hour, we were able to enjoy delicious soba smoothly thanks to the recommendation of a hidden gem restaurant!

Our driver was an experienced woman. We were a family of four (two adults in their 50s and two adult children), but the car was not as cramped as I had feared. On the way to Shirakawa-go, we had a great icebreaker with stories about the history of the Maeda family, the origins of the scattered village, and friends from Saitama. Thanks to her reassuring driving, we arrived at our destination in no time.
First, we enjoyed a panoramic view of Shirakawa-go from a high point, and then we headed to the parking lot with the suspension bridge leading to Shirakawa-go. Our driver kindly guided us to the entrance of the bridge, which was a bit hard to find, allowing us to explore comfortably without getting lost.

First of all, I was surprised that I received a phone call from the driver the day before.

We found a tour option to Shirakawa-go during our trip to Kanazawa and participated as a family. We booked a four-seater vehicle for four people, including my sixth grader, high school freshman, and my spouse (I think we will need a larger vehicle as the kids grow).
When we were at the pickup location (the hotel lobby), the driver came to greet us, which made us feel secure for departure.

The tour took place during an extremely humid heatwave in late August 2023. The participants were three people: my parents and my high school-aged child.
First of all, since we had hotel pick-up, we had more time both going and returning compared to a bus tour, and it was very convenient. Additionally, our driver provided detailed guidance around Gokayama and Shirakawa-go, sharing information about delicious dining spots, souvenir shops, and famous dessert stores. This helped us thoroughly explore places we might have overlooked if we had visited without prior knowledge. We were also able to visit an observation deck with a panoramic view of Shirakawa-go, where we took some great photos.
Since Shirakawa-go is a well-known tourist spot, the dining places were very crowded during lunchtime. The first restaurant we were guided to had a long wait, but thanks to our driver's quick thinking, we were taken to a second restaurant right away, allowing us to enjoy a delicious lunch smoothly.
On the way back, the driver also shared recommendations for dining spots in Kanazawa, which were very helpful. There were places we couldn't visit this time, but I definitely want to check them out on our next visit to Kanazawa.

白川郷内は有名な観光スポットであることもあって、お昼時の食事処は大変混雑しており、案内していただいた一軒目は長時間並ぶことは必至でしたが、ドライバーさんの機転で直ぐに二軒目に案内していただき、スムーズにおいしい昼食を食べることができました。
帰りの車中でも、ドライバーさんから金沢市内のおすすめの食事処の情報を教ええいただき、大変参考となりました。今回の旅行では行けなかったお店も次回の金沢訪問の際に是非行きたく思いました。

I visited during the rich green season in late May. Since my parents are in their late 70s and have some mobility issues, we decided to use a sightseeing taxi. I thought it would be more expensive compared to a bus tour, but it was worth it.
This turned out to be the right decision. They picked us up from our hotel, took us to a delicious soba restaurant for lunch, and instead of a one-sided sightseeing experience, they offered suggestions based on what we wanted. I was truly impressed by the level of service.
Moreover, even though we ran out of time, they stayed with us until the very last moment. The personality of our driver played a big role in this experience, as my shy mother and somewhat difficult father were both very pleased.

On March 8, 2023, I was taken from a hotel in Kanazawa to Shirakawa-go and Gokayama, and then dropped off at Kanazawa Station. The driver was very enthusiastic in explaining each location. The weather that day was great, and there was hardly any snow or traffic, so we returned to Kanazawa much earlier than expected. Because of this, we were also able to visit Higashichaya District and Utasu Shrine, which were not part of the original plan. Next time I visit, I plan to request driver Jiroma.

Shirakawa-go and Gokayama have been world heritage sites I wanted to visit for a long time. Shirakawa-go was bustling with many foreign tourists. We were blessed with clear weather that day, and although there wasn't as much snow as I expected, the view from the observation deck was truly wonderful.
Gokayama has a rustic charm, and since I visited in the evening when there were no tourists, it felt like we had the place to ourselves, which was great. I recommend visiting Gokayama as well when you go to see the gassho-zukuri villages. There aren't many shops like those in Shirakawa-go, but that's part of its appeal.
There are bus tours available, but if you have a group, taking a taxi is a good option. You can use your time freely without being rushed to meet a schedule!
It was a great decision to hire a taxi for our family of four! I was also impressed by the kindness and warm personality of Mr. Y from Fuji Taxi. Thanks to him, the world heritage tour became even more memorable. Thank you very much.
