I visited Shodoshima and rented a taxi to tour the island. The driver was kind and shared local stories while guiding us, making for a very fulfilling day. Although I couldn't cross Angel Road, I was moved by the enchanting scenery. The view of the autumn leaves and the Seto Inland Sea from the ropeway at Kankakei was truly breathtaking. At Olive Park, I took photos with the windmill and the blue sky as a backdrop and enjoyed the famous olive soft serve. I was able to efficiently visit the tourist spots, and the travel was comfortable; I really felt that renting a taxi was the right choice. Thanks to the strong recommendation from our driver, we extended our departure by 30 minutes for a total of four hours. It's true that outside of the national roads, we were driving at a safe speed of 30 to 40 km/h, so going over time might be understandable!
Kankakei has plenty of viewpoints, and we stopped here and there to take photos, which made for great memories. The Shinpaku trees looked different depending on where you viewed them, and our driver was very knowledgeable about the history of Shodoshima, which made the experience even more enjoyable.
I considered skipping Angel Road since it wasn't the time when the road appears, but when we actually went, the sea was beautiful! I was very satisfied with the stunning view.
I was also pleased that we could visit all the places I wanted to see at the Setouchi Triennale!
The actual time taken from the hotel to Kankakei, Angel Road, Nakayama Senmaida, Shinpaku at Hosho-in, Olive Park, and the ferry terminal was about 4 hours and 13 minutes.

I was able to enjoy sightseeing not only on the course but also at local spots unique to the local drivers. The photos are from places outside of the course. We also visited Yamadoku Soy Sauce for a tour. The driving on the mountain roads was careful, and the guidance was at a comfortable distance, allowing me to enjoy my solo trip without getting tired. I definitely want to use this service on my next trip as well.

I found that the tourist spots are scattered, making travel time longer. We couldn't make it to Kankakei after stopping by the soy sauce brewery. Although we had a reservation for four hours, we ended up going over by an hour (it was actually 40 minutes), and we were charged 5,320 yen in cash for that extra hour. I think it's important to be cautious as it differs from the image of a typical tour.

The tour of Yamaboku Soy Sauce was full of new and interesting information. I was so impressed by the deliciousness that I bought four bottles of soy sauce to take home. However, despite the tour including a lunch break, there was no time to eat, and I thought we would eat at Olive Park, but all the restaurants were closed.
