Free Admission to Ninnaji Temple (until 2020/12/31)

Take your time to explore the marvelous temple and the grand hall when staying overnight. Take part in the Buddhist morning services only available for participants.

Available for all participants.

With a five-story pagoda and an orchard of cherry trees that are awash with pink blossoms in spring, Ninnaji Temple has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1994.

Grab this opportunity to practice Buddhist philosophy and experience a peaceful state of mind that comes with simplicity and minimalism. The tatami sleeping areas include freshly laid out futons and you will be able to bathe in traditional baths, perfect for relaxing. Basic toiletries will be provided, but please bring your own bath towel.

In the morning, enjoy a healthy Japanese-style breakfast before attending morning prayers. Listen as the sound of Buddhist monks chanting sutras and prayers echoes throughout Kon-do Hall, a National Treasure which is open only to overnight guests and temple monks.

After the morning service and breakfast, check-out before 9:00 am then enjoy the temple gardens and grounds before the gates open to the public.

If you're not quite ready to leave the peace and quiet behind, consider going on a mini-pilgrimage. Venture out to the mountain behind Ninnaji and follow the hiking trail to visit each of the 88 small temples dotted along the way (estimated hiking course completion is 2 to 3 hours).
