    DSC_0581 Constructed in 1918 by William Vories, this wooden church started its worship services for foreign locals in 1897. During summer, many worshipers gather to this place for summer camps and conferences.
  • Karuizawa Tennis Court (Approx. 5 mins)
    Pass through the Karuizawa tennis courts to reminisce the lovely story of how the Heisei emperor and empress met.
  • Karuizawa Assembly Hall (Approx. 5 mins)
    DSC_0583 Another structure established by Vories, the Karuizawa Assembly Hall features a western architectural style with a Japanese touch. Formerly used as a Japanese clubhouse for the locals residing in the area, this establishment is still used today as a hall for conferences and mini-concerts.
  • Amusu Sanso Vacation House (Approx. 20 mins)

Giving its visitors a tricky viewing experience with its three-story exterior, enter what was once the vacation home of the Canadian missionary, Margaret Armstrong.

    A memorial site dedicated to Alexander Shaw (the father of Karuizawa), the Shaw Memorial Church is one of the famous tourist spots around the town. Observe the simplicity of this small yet beautiful church from the outside.
  • Shibasaki Workshop (Approx. 10 mins)
    Well-known among the area as one of the oldest wood carving stores, Shibasaki workshop has been in the area since 1947. Be fascinated by the hand-made Karuizawa wooden items that employ a western carving style with a Japanese touch.
  • Wood Craving Experience (Approx. 30 mins)
