I used a twin room by myself!! If I can enjoy a comfortable time at that price, it's the best. Towards the end of my trip, I wanted to sleep slowly without worrying about others watching, so I chose a private room. Having a mattress is also helpful, as I don't have to sleep flat on a hard surface. The air conditioning doesn't run much, but having the TV and space without being disturbed by anyone was truly comfortable!!

③ Impressions: Departed from Hakata Port on a fully booked Taiko Ferry late the night before and arrived at Fukue Island Port after about 8.5 hours. Heading slightly west from the port for 20 km, we reached Arakawa Onsen, then proceeded to the trailhead of Nanatsutake Shrine, where we parked the car. This trailhead branches into two directions towards Nanatsutake and Chichigadake, connecting to their respective hiking paths. Today, we are challenging Chichigadake, which does not have a route map on YAMAP or the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan. We progressed along the stream, eventually taking the right fork, crossing a chain barrier, and continuing on the hiking trail. There were many signs of landslides from the mountain side, so we proceeded carefully to avoid slipping. The area was lush with ferns, and we even encountered a larger mamushi snake. Continuing left of the sediment control dam, we crossed a dry streambed and arrived at the charcoal kiln ruins. The route back down is unclear, so let's make sure to remember this landscape well. Eventually, we will merge with the ridge route connecting Nanatsutake and Chichigadake, so it’s important to memorize the two pink tape markers at this junction. From there, a steep ascent with auxiliary ropes continues to the summit. The summit offered a breathtaking 360-degree view. To the east, we could see Nanatsutake, and to the south and west, the East China Sea, the emerald-toned Tonpaku Beach, and various islands, with Saga Island spreading to the north. After descending via the same route, we drove to Onidake and enjoyed a leisurely walk through the gentle grasslands. Thank you to everyone who participated; great job!

③感想 前日深夜、満員乗船の太古フェリーで博多港を出発して約8.5時間で福江島港に到着。港からやや西部へ２０Kmのところに向かうと荒川温泉、そこから七嶽神社の登山口へ向かい、ここに車を置きます。この登山口は七ツ岳と父ケ岳の2方向に分岐してそれぞれの登山道へと繋がります。今日はYAMAPと国土地理院図にルート図がない父ケ岳へ挑戦です。沢沿いに進み、やがて分岐を右へ、鎖の通行止めを越えて登山道を進みます。山側からの崩落が多くのところに見られ、足元を注意して滑落しないように進みます。シダが多く茂っていて地主の大きめのマムシさんにもお会いしました。砂防堤を左にしながら進み、やがて涸れ沢を渡り、炭窯跡に着きます。下山時はこのルートが不明瞭ですからこの風景をちゃんと記憶しておきましょう。やがて七ツ岳～父ケ岳縦走尾根ルートと合流しますので、下山時はこのルートが不明瞭ですから、この合流・分岐のピンクのテープ2か所をよく記憶しておきましょう。そこから山頂までは補助ロープの急登が続きます。山頂は360度の眺望絶景がまってくれていました。東方面は七ツ岳、南方面から西方面に東シナ海、エメラルド色の頓泊ビーチや島々が、北方面に嵯峨島が広がります。同ルートを下山後に車で鬼岳へ移動し、なだらかな草原散歩を楽しみました。参加の皆様、お疲れ山ー。

I was so happy to finally go on the Gunkanjima tour that I had always wanted to experience! I had heard that the waves were high the day before and that landing was not possible, so I was worried about whether the tour would take place. However, the weather was great, and the tour went ahead successfully, allowing us to land on the island.

Having prior knowledge before visiting the Gunkanjima Digital Museum makes the experience even more profound. The museum offers VR experiences, history, and videos, so one hour might not be enough to enjoy everything. The reception, café, and museum staff are all very courteous, making for a pleasant visit.

We were supposed to meet at 9 AM, but even arriving early, the digital museum only opened at 9, and many people were waiting in the rain.
After checking in, we toured the museum. The large visuals and explanations were impressive, but my husband, who was with me, got motion sickness from the videos. The exhibits on other floors were also interesting.
Once we boarded the ship, the guide's explanations were very engaging, and before we knew it, we could see Gunkanjima. Since it was raining, I wore the raincoat I had prepared, but they also provided poncho-type ones inside the ship (though there might be a limited supply).
Even after landing, the explanations were fascinating, and I enjoyed listening. In the last area, I was happy to have my photo taken with Building No. 30 in the background.
I was worried about the rain during the rainy season, but the best part was being able to land.

The cruise was more comfortable than I expected. I recommend upgrading your room for an additional fee. You can sleep soundly without worrying about others or noise. However, since it's a ship, you can still feel the vibrations. The shower room is clean and spacious enough for one person, with adequate facilities. There are only two showers for each gender, so it can get crowded during peak times. It would be nice to have a few more. The restrooms are also clean. I was worried about whether we could land because a typhoon was approaching, but we were able to land safely. I experienced some seasickness along the way, but thanks to the advice from the staff at the naval museum and the motion sickness medication I bought at a nearby FamilyMart, I was fine.
Both during the journey and after landing, the guide's explanations were wonderful, and I was so engaged with the content that time flew by. If possible, I would have liked to go deeper into the island and experience more of the life back then. It's a wish that may not come true, though.
