Since it was my first time in Nagasaki, I chose a bus tour instead of exploring on my own. I found the Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum fascinating and wanted to take my time to look around. If I have the opportunity to go again, I would like to visit it.

初めての長崎だったので個人で回るよりバスツアーにしました。
長崎原爆資料館は興味深くゆっくり見たかったのです。
また行く機会があれば見学したいです。

There were concerns about not being able to land, but we were able to disembark safely.
There is no shade on the island, and using parasols is prohibited, so taking measures against heatstroke is essential.
On the ship and on the island, a knowledgeable and experienced guide provided us with information, which, combined with the digital museum, deepened our understanding.

上陸できないこともある、とのことで出航まで不安でしたが無事上陸することができました。
島内は日影がなく、日傘も禁止とのこと、熱中症対策必須でした。
船内、島内では、知識・経験ともに豊富なガイドさんが案内してくださるので、デジタルミュージアムと相まって知見が深まりました。

Our family booked a private taxi tour with Kazu, and everything about our experience was perfect. The staff in the Tourist Information Centre were all very friendly and helpful, and even though we don't speak Japanese and they didn't speak English, the tablet translation tools they used made communication seamless. Kazu was very professional and kind, and he clearly loves what he does. His enthusiasm for the sights in Sasebo was delightful and we would 100% book an experience with him again.

The Gunkanjima Museum at the reception area provides a deeper understanding of Gunkanjima for those who visit in advance. We waited in a private lounge until boarding. After boarding, the guide explained the history of Nagasaki in an easy-to-understand manner to keep the visitors engaged until we landed on Gunkanjima. It was mentioned that due to city regulations, there are times when landing may not be possible even after departure. Fortunately, we were able to land safely.

受付場所にある軍艦島ミュージアムには事前に見学された方がより軍艦島に対する考えが深まります。乗船まで専用ラウンジで待機しました。乗船後は軍艦島上陸まで見学者が飽きないように長崎の歴史等ガイドの方が分かりやすく話をしてくださいました。市の条例で出港しても上陸できないこともあるとのこと。幸い無事上陸できました。

First of all, the museum had a very rich content that conveyed the social conditions of the time and the way of life of the residents, leaving a lasting impression on me. After thoroughly exploring the exhibits, we boarded the boat and listened to the videos and explanations on board (which were so comprehensive they could be called lectures), which further heightened my anticipation for landing on the island. Although it seems that high waves often prevent landings, on the day I participated, we were able to disembark on the island. Even though it has become a ruin, seeing the structures in front of me resonated with the images I had seen in the museum, and I was overwhelmed with emotion. Tangible heritage may eventually crumble, but this historical site makes me want to remember the feelings I had when I stood on the island and engrave them in my memory.

まず、ミュージアムがとても充実した内容で、当時の社会状況や住民の方々の暮らしぶりが伝わってきて、心に残りました。十分に見学してから、船に乗船し、船内での映像と説明（講義と言ってよい程、こちらも充実しています）を聴いて、どんどん島上陸への期待が膨らみました。波の高さで、上陸できないことも多いようですが、参加した日は島に上陸が叶い、廃墟となってしまったとはいえ、目の前に建造物を見ると、ミュージアムで見た映像と重なり、感無量でした。形ある遺産は、いつか崩れ落ちてしまうかもしれませんが、実際に島に立った時の気持ちをわすれずに、目に焼きつけたいと思わせる、歴史的遺産です。

I had developed an interest in Hashima Island after watching a drama. I learned that tours were the only way to visit, so I signed up. The explanations were easy to understand, and although it was very hot, I was glad that we could see everything efficiently.

My elderly mother was with me, and she said she enjoyed it. During the journey, we were able to hear various stories, making it a very fulfilling tour.

高齢の母も一緒でしたが、楽しめたと言っていました。行く道中も、さまざまな話を聞けて、とても充実したツアーでした。

The weather was bad until the day before, so I was worried, but it turned out to be nice weather on the day of the tour, and I was hopeful about landing (actually, this was my fourth attempt to join the Gunkanjima tour, as I had not been able to land on the previous three occasions)! The tour guide's explanations about Gunkanjima and the churches visible on both sides during the cruise were thorough and very good. This tour offered great value compared to previous ones, and I was able to visit the Gunkanjima Museum before and after the tour, which had a rich array of exhibits and facilities. I rated it ★★★★ because we couldn't land due to high waves, but even without landing, it was a satisfying tour. I look forward to participating again for my fifth attempt.

前日までは、天候が悪く、心配でしたが当日はいい天気になり、上陸できるかと期待して出発（実はこれまで3回軍艦島ツアーに参加しましたが、上陸出来ず、今回が4度目の挑戦です）！ツアーガイドの軍艦島の説明や、航路で左右に見える教会、世界遺産の解説も丁寧で、とても良かった。今回のツアーがこれまでのツアーに比べてコスパも良く、ツアー前後で軍艦島ミュージアムに入館でき、展示物や施設もとても充実していました。上陸は波高の関係で出来なかったので★４つにしていますが、上陸出来なくても、満足なツアーでした。また、5度目の挑戦を目指して、参加させて頂きたいと思います。

The boarding time is long, but it's easier to access Fukuoka than transferring by bus or train within Nagasaki Prefecture. Onboard, there are food, drinks, shower rooms, and a relaxing space available. Before boarding, I was worried if I could board just with the voucher screen on my smartphone from Veltra, so I inquired at the counter, and they provided me with a paper boarding ticket.

乗船時間は長いけど長崎県内でバスや電車に乗り継ぐよりもラクに福岡にアクセスできます。
船内は食べ物、飲み物、シャワールーム、リラックスできる空間など一通り揃っています。
乗船前、ベルトラのスマホのバウチャー画面だけで乗船できるのか不安だったので窓口に申し出ると紙の乗船券を出してくれました。

This tour was really great. According to the guide, Nagasaki has most of its sightseeing spots concentrated within a 4-kilometer square area, but exploring on your own can take quite a bit of time. This tour compactly organizes everything, making it an efficient option for first-time visitors to Nagasaki. Of course, the price includes admission fees to each sightseeing location. At the Atomic Bomb Museum, we unfortunately didn't have enough time, so I may need to visit again. We also ran out of time at Glover Garden. Although it wasn't included in the tour, we visited Oura Cathedral, which is on the way to Glover Garden, for about 15 minutes. It was a great opportunity to learn about the diverse aspects of Nagasaki, which has deep connections to the atomic bomb, international trade, and Christianity.

このツアー、本当に良かった。ガイドさんによると、４キロ四方以内に概ね観光すべきところが集まっている長崎ではありますが、個人でまわると、それなりに時間がかかります。このツアーは、コンパクトにぎゅっとまとめてくれているので、初めて長崎を訪問する観光客にとっては、効率のよいツアーかと思います。勿論、各観光地の入場料込みの金額です。原爆資料館では流石に時間が足りず、改めて、訪問する必要があるかもしれません。またグラバー園も時間が足りなかったです。ツアーには含まれていませんが、グラバー園へ徒歩で向かう途中にある大浦天主堂にも15分程度訪問しました。原爆、海外との貿易、キリスト教との縁が深い多様な側面を持つ長崎を知るいい機会となりました。

It was unfortunate that the weather was rainy and then clear, but considering my own actions, I thought traveling by bus and sightseeing was a good choice. By using the morning and afternoon courses on the first day of sightseeing, I was able to get an overview of Nagasaki City, which helped me plan for the following days. The guide's stories were also informative.

雨が降ったり止んだりのあいにくの天気でしたが、自分で行動することを考えると、バスでの移動、観光がよかったと思いました。観光初日に午前と午後のコースを利用したことで長崎市内の概要がわかり、2日目以降の計画を立てるのに役立ちました。
ガイドさんのお話も勉強になりました。

I learned a lot from the introduction of various episodes related to the history of Gunkanjima. The stories were interesting and enjoyable.

I enjoyed my long-awaited solo trip. It was a plan that allowed for a leisurely hotel checkout with an afternoon departure. The guide's explanations were easy to understand, and I received helpful advice, allowing us to efficiently explore. I admire jobs that bring joy to others. Take care of yourselves, both the guide and the driver! I was able to visit the Atomic Bomb Museum, but it was disappointing that we couldn't get off at the epicenter. Also, I missed the theater at the museum. I wish I had more time.

久しぶりの一人旅を楽しませてもらいました。午後出発で、ホテルのチェックアウトがゆっくりできるプランでした。
ガイドさんの説明もわかりやすく、アドバイスも頂けて、効率よく回れました。

原爆資料館行けたけど、爆心地で降りられなかったのは残念。また、資料館でのシアターが見られず。時間をもっととりたかった。

I was worried about the weather on the day since I made the reservation a few months ago, but it was clear and the waves were calm, so we were able to land safely. Although the walkable route is limited, I was glad to see Gunkanjima (Hashima) with my own eyes.

何ヶ月前かに予約したので当日の天気が心配でしたが快晴で波も穏やかで無事上陸することができました。歩けるルートは一部ですが軍艦島(端島)を実際自分の目で見る事ができて良かったです。

Since my flight was delayed, I arrived at the terminal around 22:40, but I had reserved a Green Car sleeper, so it was fairly comfortable. There was a TV, but I ended up not watching it at all. Aside from the general passengers, there was absolutely no sense of privacy, so I was glad I chose the Green Car sleeper. The restrooms and shower rooms were very clean. It's a shame that the only food available was instant noodles. Beer was sold from a vending machine, but I couldn't buy any after 24:00.

フライトが遅めだったのでターミナルに着いたのが　22:40ぐらいだったが　グリーン寝台を予約しておいたから　まあまあ快適でした。テレビがついてはいたが　みることもなくおえてしまった。一般の方をのぞいたら　プライベート感はまったくないので　グリーン寝台にしてよかったと思った。トイレやシャワールームはとてもきれいでした。食べ物がカップ麺ぐらいしかないのが残念ですね。ビールは自販機で販売していたが　24:00以降は買えなかった。

It was impressive up close. Listening to the explanation from the concierge, I could imagine the intensity of the miners and the way people lived, which made my heart swell. It was also great to enjoy various activities at the battleship museum before boarding.

そして、コンシェルジュからの説明を聞き、炭鉱夫達の壮絶さや、人々の暮らしぶりが想像出来て胸が熱くなりました。
乗船前に、軍艦ミュージアムで色々楽しめたのも良かったです。

I made my reservation just before my trip to Nagasaki. I thought Nagasaki was a good place for sightseeing because it has trams and buses, but since it's a hilly city, I opted for the regular sightseeing bus. The guide and the driver were very kind. It was great to be able to get to the places I wanted to visit smoothly and in a short amount of time.

長崎旅行の直前に申し込みました。長崎は、路面電車やバスがあるので観光するには良いと思いましたが、坂道の多い街なので定期観光バスにしました。
ガイドさんや運転手は、とても親切です。行きたい所へスムーズに短時間で行けるのが良かったです。

It was my family's first landing, and it was my second time. The waves were high, and we barely managed to land. Since it was my second time and I landed smoothly the first time, it took longer to land this time due to the high waves. I realized how much the sea conditions can vary. I'm glad my family was able to land. Thank you very much.

I went on a 3-night, 4-day trip to Kyushu from Sapporo. I rented a car at Fukuoka Airport, but I wanted to efficiently explore Nagasaki, so I signed up for a bus tour. Driving in an unfamiliar area can be challenging, and searching for parking and buying admission tickets can surprisingly take a lot of time, so I was glad to join the tour. The recitation of "Kono Ko o Nokoshite" by the guide, Takashi Nagai, also left a deep impression on me.

札幌から3泊４日の九州旅行に行って来ました。福岡空港でレンタカーを借りたのですが、長崎では効率良く観光したいと思いバスツアーに申し込みました。知らない土地での運転は大変ですし、駐車場を探したり入場券を買うのも意外と時間を取られるので、ツアーに参加して良かったです。ガイドさんの永井隆の「この子を残して」の暗唱も、とても心に残りました。

I participated on April 8, 2025, in the afternoon. The weather was favorable, the waves weren't high, and I didn't experience any seasickness, which I was worried about. On the way there, I was seated at the back deck, but perhaps the sea breeze was too cold for me to feel nauseous.

The guide from Veltra provided clear explanations with a good tempo, and we quickly arrived at our destination while also introducing the battleship Musashi's dock and other islands along the way.

Gunkanjima has become famous recently due to a television drama, but it was also used as a filming location for 007 and Attack on Titan. When I was able to see Japan's oldest reinforced concrete apartment building, Block 30, even from a distance, I felt it was worth coming.

It might be tough for those who are not good with boats, but opportunities to see historical buildings like this are rare, so I'm glad I gathered the courage to go.

2025年4月8日午後参加でした。
天気にも恵まれ波も高くなく心配した船酔いもなかったです。行きは後ろデッキ席だったのですが、海風が寒すぎたのか酔うどころじゃなかったかもしれません。
ベルトラ経由のガイドさんの説明はわかりやすくテンポも良く、途中戦艦武蔵のドッグや他の島の紹介も交えながらあっという間に目的地に到着しました。
軍艦島は最近のテレビドラマで有名ですが007や進撃の巨人でもロケ地に使われました。
日本で一番古い鉄筋アパート30号棟を遠くとはいえ実際目に出来た時は来てよかったと思えました。
船が苦手な方にとっては厳しいかもしれませんが、歴史的建造物を見れる機会はそうそうないので勇気を出して行って良かったです。

I learned foundational knowledge at the Gunkanjima Museum, including history, customs, living conditions, and the route of the abandoned mines. It was very educational. On the day of the visit, we set sail in light rain, but the rain intensified and the waves became severe, so we turned back to the port. Next time, I want to make a comeback and land on the island.

Veltra made it possible for me -- as a foreigner with no Japanese language -- to reserve a private room on the overnight ferry from Hakata to Fukue. I'm so grateful for this, because it would've been very confusing to try and book it in person. It doesn't seem like a common route for foreigners.

TIPS FOR FELLOW TRAVELERS: look for "Terminal 2" Hakata Port on google maps, because there are multiple "Hakata Ports" and you don't want to end up at the wrong one.

Once you're at the terminal, head upstairs and wait in line to pick up your actual tickets. There are two lines - the left one is for passengers with vehicles and the right is for passengers only. The VELTRA voucher doesn't function as a ticket, so you have to pick up the actual tickets.

The ferry itself is very clean, quiet, and has multiple vending machines for snacks and drinks (including hot coffee and beer). There is a shower room, but no towels, so make sure to bring your own. Slippers are provided.

If you're large like me (188cm), I would highly recommend booking a twin room for yourself. It was very spacious and I had a great night's rest, considering the ferry begins making stops around 3 AM and you definitely feel it.

For what you get, the price is extremely fair. I actually was worried the booking might be wrong, because it seemed too cheap for a private room (compared to ferries in Europe and the USA). But it all worked out and I got everything that I paid for (and more)!

Having seen it in dramas and movies, I was moved by the sight of an island that was once cutting-edge, now standing before me as a deserted ruin where no one lives.

ドラマや映画で見ていた事もあり、かつては最先端だった島が今は誰も住まない廃墟が目の前にある事に心を動かされました。

I wanted to make the most of my time, so I joined a bus tour. The content was fulfilling. Although the Nagasaki Museum is somewhat overshadowed by Hiroshima, I think it's a place worth visiting at least once. Due to time constraints, I had to rush through the museum. If you want to take your time, it seems like it would take about two hours.

効率的に回りたかったので、バスツアーで参加。
内容は、充実していました。広島の少し影に隠れてしまう長崎の資料館ですが、一度は訪れて欲しい所だと思いました。
資料館は、時間の都合でかなり駆け足になってしまいました。じっくり見ようと思うと2時間位はかかりそうです。

The weather was bad, and we couldn't go ashore. It's disappointing, but I accepted that it couldn't be helped. There was a possibility that we wouldn't be able to tour, but somehow we managed to do it. I hope to participate on a nice weather day next time. I received candy to prevent seasickness. The candy was the best. I didn't get seasick (laughs).

天気が悪く上陸は叶わずでした。残念ですが、これも仕方がないと諦めました。周遊もできないかもしれない状態でしたが何とか周遊はできました。次回は是非お天気の良い日に参加できればと思います。船酔い防止に飴をいただきました。飴玉、最強です。船酔いせず済みました(笑)

This was a valuable tour that made me realize how my perspective on life and the world has changed through the experiences I had in such a limited time. I want to visit Nagasaki again!

The traditional bus guide read aloud and sang songs, which really touched me after visiting the Atomic Bomb Museum. The bus was spacious, which was great considering the number of participants.

昔ながらのバスガイドさんで、朗読や歌を歌ってくれたりして、原爆資料館を見た後にジーンときました。参加人数に対して、バスがゆったりで良かったです～

The day before was nice weather, but on the day of the trip, it rained and the wind was strong. Although we were able to set sail, we couldn't go ashore. Many people experienced seasickness. The VR experience at the Gunkanjima Digital Museum was good, as we could enjoy the latest virtual videos.

前日は好天でしたが当日は雨で風が強く、出航はできたものの、上陸はかないませんでした。船酔いされた方も続出しました。軍艦島デジタルミュージアムのVRは最近のバーチャルビデオが体験出来て良かったかな。

I was worried until the day of the trip about whether we would be able to land on Gunkanjima and if the boat would set sail, but the museum was very interesting and I welcomed the opportunity for a first-time experience. Gunkanjima really looks like a large battleship, and seeing it from the sea is completely different from experiencing it up close. I felt a deep appreciation for the hardships of life on the island. Since it became a World Heritage Site, I had really wanted to visit at least once, so I was very happy to be able to land there with my sister at this age.

軍艦島、上陸出来るか、船が出航するのか当日まで心配していましたが、ミュウジアムもとても面白く初めての体験もでき歓迎しました。軍艦島は本当に大きな軍艦の様で、海上から見るのと上陸で体感するのとは全然違って、島の生活も色々ご苦労があったと、熱い思いをしました。世界遺産になって本当に一度行って見たいと思っていたので、この年で妹と上陸できてとても良かった。
