It was impressive up close. Listening to the explanation from the concierge, I could imagine the intensity of the miners and the way people lived, which made my heart swell. It was also great to enjoy various activities at the battleship museum before boarding.

I made my reservation just before my trip to Nagasaki. I thought Nagasaki was a good place for sightseeing because it has trams and buses, but since it's a hilly city, I opted for the regular sightseeing bus. The guide and the driver were very kind. It was great to be able to get to the places I wanted to visit smoothly and in a short amount of time.

I went on a 3-night, 4-day trip to Kyushu from Sapporo. I rented a car at Fukuoka Airport, but I wanted to efficiently explore Nagasaki, so I signed up for a bus tour. Driving in an unfamiliar area can be challenging, and searching for parking and buying admission tickets can surprisingly take a lot of time, so I was glad to join the tour. I participated on April 8, 2025, in the afternoon. The weather was favorable, the waves weren't high, and I didn't experience any seasickness, which I was worried about. On the way there, I was seated at the back deck, but perhaps the sea breeze was too cold for me to feel nauseous.

日本で一番古い鉄筋アパート30号棟を遠くとはいえ実際目に出来た時は来てよかったと思えました。

I was worried until the day of the trip about whether we would be able to land on Gunkanjima and if the boat would set sail, but the museum was very interesting and I welcomed the opportunity for a first-time experience. Gunkanjima really looks like a large battleship, and seeing it from the sea is completely different from experiencing it up close. I felt a deep appreciation for the hardships of life on the island. However, while on the ship, watching videos and listening to the incredible stories from the guide who actually lived on Ikeshima, I found myself thinking that it would be okay if we couldn't land at all.
We were able to land safely, and although we faced some tough moments with rain and wind, it allowed me to feel just a tiny bit of the hardships experienced by those who lived there, which was quite moving.
The Gunkanjima Museum before our departure was also great. I was able to learn more about the history of Gunkanjima. I would like to visit again on a sunny day next time.

Since it was my first time visiting Nagasaki, I wanted to get an overall view of the tourist spots, so I requested a full-day course that combined the morning Peace Prayer Course and the afternoon Exotic Atmosphere Course.
Not only did they guide us through the key points, but I was also impressed by the professionalism of the guide, who conveyed information ahead of time. They provided very clear and thorough instructions on the meeting point and what to do if we chose to leave the tour for some free time.

I was so happy to finally go on the Gunkanjima tour that I had always wanted to experience! I had heard that the waves were high the day before and that landing was not possible, so I was worried about whether the tour would take place. However, the weather was great, and the tour went ahead successfully, allowing us to land on the island.

I had heard that sometimes you can't land due to the weather, but on the day of my visit, we were able to land safely, and we were fortunate to have a wonderful guide, making it a very meaningful day.
