Explanation (Approx.30 min)
At the disposable chopstick sawmill, you can observe the process of Yoshino cedar planks being transformed into disposable chopsticks. You'll have the opportunity to see up close how a single plank is processed into chopsticks. Enjoy a moment surrounded by the warmth and aroma of the wood.
Start of Experience (Approx.60 min)
①Create Chopsticks
Peel the bark and create three pairs of disposable chopsticks per person. Experience the joy of crafting your own unique chopsticks using specialized machinery.
②Create Original Chopstick Sleeves
Customize chopstick sleeves using thin cedar bark, Yoshino handmade washi paper, or Yuzen patterned washi paper to create a one-of-a-kind original chopstick sleeve.
③Engrave Characters onto the Chopsticks
If you think about what characters you'd like to engrave beforehand, the process will go more smoothly. Personalize your chopsticks with your name or a favorite word to create your own original set! They also make perfect gifts for family and friends!

For Public Transportation Users:
From Kintetsu Shimoichiguchi Station, take the Nara Kotsu Bus and get off at Iwamori (Shimoichi Onsen), then walk for 20 minutes.
For Those Arriving by Car:
It's a 35-minute drive from the Gosho Minami IC on the Keinawa Expressway.
*Please park in the parking lot in front of Studio Kien. (Space for about 20 cars)

- You will have the opportunity to closely observe the chopstick manufacturing machinery and work with a pyrography pen. As there is a risk of injury, please follow the instructions of our workshop staff and ensure that you keep a close watch on small children for their safety. Please review the above information, and if you agree, proceed with your application.
- The activity will be conducted in Japanese.
- If less than 4 participants are booked, the activity may not operate.
Other requirements
- Parking is available for 20 vehicles. Please inform us in advance if you are arriving by bus.
(Large buses, medium-sized buses, small buses, and microbuses can be accommodated.)
Required items to bring & attire
- During the workshop tour, wood shavings may be in the air, so please wear clothing that you don't mind getting dirty.
- It is expected to be cold during the winter, so please dress warmly.
- Please bring a water bottle for hydration.
