Five of us participated. It was so much fun that it ranks quite high among the enjoyable experiences of our trip. There was a model to follow, and when we encountered difficulties, the staff provided us with advice, allowing all five of us to successfully create our own Shisa figures. Each of the five Shisa clearly reflected our individual personalities, and even after some time has passed since completing them, we continue to enjoy displaying them and looking back at the photos. I definitely want to try other experiences besides Shisa-making as well.

It's definitely worth a try. The instructor was very kind and it was fun. Although the final product doesn't quite match the display items, even if it's not perfect, it has its charm. I think it would be great for families or groups to enjoy together.

I've heard that the Shisa with an open mouth is male and the one with a closed mouth is female, so next time I plan to make a female one to display at home.

I will make a clay shisa that is about the size of my palm. Since it's clay, my hands will get dirty, but there is a place to wash my hands, so I feel at ease. We started around 5:15 PM, and it was ready by around 7:00 PM. However, the baking time is only about 10 to 15 minutes, so the total time depends on how long you spend shaping it.

Just like with making earrings, the price is for one piece, so if you want a pair, you need to make a reservation for two!

I was really looking forward to the experience of making and painting a Shisa! It was so much fun, and I learned about the challenges of painting, so I'm glad I participated~ヽ(｡･ω･｡)ﾉ

However, there were three disappointing things...

Before the Shisa-making experience, we listened to about 10 minutes of instructions, and then we were supposed to start working. But since we had another appointment, I tried to start while listening to the instructions...

The staff member lightly banged on the table and clearly spoke in an angry tone (llllllﾟДﾟ). I can understand why the staff would be upset...

I reflected that I should have asked first, "Is it okay if I work while listening since we have a tight schedule?"...

But...
It felt like they could have been a bit kinder, saying something like, "Are you in a hurry? If possible, please listen to the instructions (；´д｀）ノ." I ended up feeling a bit down from the start of the trip (- -;;).

The second point is...
I wanted to hang the Shisa, so I asked the staff, "Can I have some string?" They replied, "The string for hanging is thick, so please make the hole a bit larger." I thought I would be given it, so I made a larger hole and finished it up♪♪♪

体験はとっても楽しかったし、絵付けの難しさも分かったので、参加してよかったです～ヽ(｡･ω･｡)ﾉ

でも・・・ガッカリだったの事が３点ほど・・・

シーサー作り体験の前、10分ほど作り方の説明を聞き、説明が終わってから作業開始～と言う流れでしたが、次の予定も入っていた為、説明を聞きながら作ろうとしたら・・・

店員さんが机を軽くバンっ！！と叩き、明らかに怒っている口調(llllllﾟДﾟ)
そりゃ、店員さんが怒るのも分かる・・・・

「次の予定が迫っているから、作りながら聞いても良いですか～？」って、先に尋ねれば良かったなぁ～と、反省もしました・・・・

が・・・・
「急がれてるんですか？出来れば説明は聞いて下さい（；´д｀）ノ」
みたいな感じで、優しく接してくれても・・・・
って思い、旅行の出だしからブルーになりました(- -;;)

もう１点は・・・
シーサーをぶら下げて飾りたかったので「紐は頂けますか？」と、店員さんに聞くと「ぶら下げる紐は太いので、穴を大きめに開けて作って下さい」との回返答。
頂けるのだと思い、穴を大きめにあけて仕上げ♪♪♪

帰りに紐を頂こうとしたら「○○円になります」と、請求？？？
えっっっ？　
頂けるって聞いたんですけど・・・
紐が太いって言うから大きめに穴をあけて作ったんですけど・・・

・・・・でも、店員さんを怒らせてしまった負い目や、紐が思いのほか高価だった事もあり、そのまま持って帰りました（|||´□｀；）))))

最後の１点は・・・
シーサー作り中、一緒に行っていた友達が「大きめのシーサーが作りたいから粘土を買い足せますか？」と、聞くと「出来ません」との事。
後日、体験談を見ていると「１体分追加料金を払って２体作りました」との体験談を発見！！！！
えぇぇぇぇ！？
粘土・・・買い足せたの？？
２体作るって条件でしか買い足せないの？？？

・・・・まぁ～焼き時間の問題とかがあって断られたんでしょうが、理由を説明してくれても良いのでは(*_*)？？？

こちらが悪い事は招致しておりますが、楽しく、そしてブルーな体験になりました～ヾ(｡>﹏<｡)ﾉﾞ

It was my first time using this service, but I was able to check the instructions on DVD, and there were many sample works displayed, making it easy for beginners to create. The instructions were all shown on a PC, and I was told to ask for help if I needed it. It was nice to have some distance instead of someone hovering over me. However, due to a shortage of staff, it took a while for someone to come when I called, and the explanations felt a bit impersonal, which was disappointing. It took about two hours from production to painting, but I was surprisingly pleased with how well it turned out.

We made small candles that where very cute. There's alot of glass pieces and different color sand and shells to choose from to make it how ever you want. The glasses pieces cost ¥300 ea on top of the reservation price so bring extra yen if you want to add a lot of things.

It was quite difficult. I kneaded the clay and shaped it myself, even doing the painting. I thought they would teach me various things, but instead, I was shown a DVD and followed along with that. The style is to call the staff only when you don't understand something. I felt a bit abandoned at first, but I managed to do it reasonably well. It turns out that being left alone was just right! I realized that while doing it. I was focused the whole time. The sense of accomplishment when it was finished was incredible.

I had a lot of fun chatting with my friends while we worked on it together.

First, we had a tutorial on how to make it via video. It seemed difficult at first, but as we progressed, everyone managed to create something that reflected their individual characteristics. My 6-year-old grandchild was able to complete it all by themselves. I think the coloring turned out so well that you could easily tell whose work it was just by looking at the finished pieces.

Everyone took theirs home and quickly displayed them. Next time, I want to challenge myself with glass.

初めにビデオにて作り方の講習をしました。見てると難しく感じましたが、作っていくうちにみんなそれなりに形が出来、個人の特徴が出ました。6歳の孫も最後まで一人で作成しました。色付けに関しても仕上がりを見れば誰の作品かわかるくらい上手に出来たと思います。

I thought painting would be quite difficult, but there was a video prepared, and by remembering the steps and following the instructions, it was easy to do! The staff would come when called, and in a good way, it felt relaxed, which was perfect for my family! It seems that even if you go a little over time, it's okay, so families with small children can take their time without feeling rushed. Everyone was able to create different Shisa, and the kids were happy. It was really fun, to the point where even the adults got really into it, so I definitely recommend going!

一人一人違うシーサーができて、子供たちも喜んでいました。とにかくとっても楽しく、大人の方が夢中になる位ですので、是非行ってみてください！

それと、アクリル絵の具なので、出来れば汚れてもいい服を着ていくか、持っていくかするとお気に入りの服を汚さないですむ済むと思います！
特に小さいお子さんが行う場合は知らないうちに汚しそうなので...

I participated alone, but I didn't feel lonely at all; I was completely absorbed in making and painting the shisa. The staff were very kind, and even though I took about 2 hours and 30 minutes to finish my work, they waited for me until the end. It's not perfect since I made it myself, but it looks cute because I put in the effort. I'm displaying it in my room and feeling the spirit of Okinawa.
