Every time I come to Ishigaki Island, I've signed up for a different stargazing tour, but it always got canceled due to bad weather. This time, I booked a tour to see the starry sky from a boat for the first time.
Before boarding the boat, I was worried that the clouds would block the view, but as we set sail, the clouds quickly cleared, and we were able to see a sky full of stars. We moved by boat to a dark area near Taketomi Island, where there were no lights, and the guide provided a detailed explanation of the stars.
Even if the stars were not visible due to clouds, we could enjoy cruising while listening to the sanshin, which made for a very pleasant experience. The performance was excellent. I highly recommend it. Please note that there is no restroom on the boat, so I suggest using the restroom before departure. The staff at the shop also provide explanations, so if you go at that time, you can use the restroom just before departure, which is reassuring.
石垣島に来る度に別の星空ツアーに申し込んでいましたが、いつも悪天候のため中止になっていました。今回初めて船から星空を見るツアーを申し込みました。
船に乗る前は雲があり見えないかなーと不安なまま出航しましたが、みるみるうちに雲が晴れて満天の星空を見ることができました。竹富島の方まで船で移動して灯りがない真っ暗なところで星空の説明を丁寧にしてくれます。
万が一雲で星が見られなくてもクルージングしながら三線聴くことができてとても心地よい時間でした。とても上手でした。ぜひおすすめです。船にはトイレがありません。出港前にトイレに行くことをお勧めします。お店のスタッフからも説明があるのでそのタイミングで行くと出航前ギリギリにトイレに行けるので安心です。
長袖を一枚持っていくといいかも。風が強いので帽子は飛ばされないように。

The day I went, unfortunately, it was cloudy, so we couldn't enjoy stargazing... we only had the jungle night tour. However, with the guide and everyone who participated, we searched for creatures and rare plants, and at times we even got to see a coconut crab, which is not often seen during this season. It was truly a fun time.
There were also participants from overseas, and they provided explanations in English as well. Since we could share the enjoyment among participants, I really think everyone, regardless of age or nationality, should definitely join this tour.
私が行った日は、あいにくの曇りで星空鑑賞ができず…ジャングルナイトツアーのみでした。でも、ガイドさんをはじめ、参加した人達皆で生き物やレアな植物を探し、時には今の時期にはあまり見られないヤシガニを見れたりと、本当に楽しい時間を過ごせました。
海外の方も参加されていましたが、英語でも説明してくださいます。参加者同士で楽しみを共有できるため、老若男女日本海外問わず是非このツアーに皆さん行ってほしいな、と思えるツアーでした。

Although the cloudy weather prevented us from seeing the starry sky and the coconut crabs, we were able to spot regular hermit crabs and other creatures. Searching for wildlife together with the other participants created a sense of unity. The guide was kind, attentive, and worked hard for us. I wish there were some plans in place for days with bad weather.
曇りで星空は見えずヤシガニも見れないものの普通のヤドカリ等々生き物等々は見れました。
他の参加者さん一緒に生き物を探していると一体感がでます。ガイドさんは親切丁寧で一生懸命頑張ってくれています。

We participated as a family of five, with a 3rd-grade boy and twin 1st-grade boys. At first, the kids said it was dark and scary, but after a while, they became engrossed in searching for various creatures like insects, fish, and coconut crabs. It was a pity that we couldn't find a coconut crab, but it seems they had a lot of fun. The weather was nice all day, so we could see the moon and stars beautifully. I booked this tour on Ishigaki Island for the first time. In December, I was worried about the rain and strong winds on the day of the tour, but surprisingly, the jungle shielded us from the rain and wind due to the vegetation. I made a last-minute reservation and participated in the afternoon. I was worried about whether I would enjoy it since I was alone and not good with bugs, but I’m really glad I joined!
I heard that it’s hard to see the starry sky in winter, but when the clouds cleared, it was literally a sky full of stars, and it was very beautiful.
On the bus ride to and from the event, I learned about the nature of Ishigaki Island and recommended shops, and I received advice on how to see the stars more beautifully. Thank you for being attentive to everyone in the tour and making sure we all had a great time!

We walked through the jungle guided by our tour guide and encountered cute hermit crabs and coconut crabs along the way. When we reached the coast, we observed the starry sky. I participated in December.
I was really looking forward to seeing the coconut crabs, so it was disappointing that I couldn't see the stars, but I had a great time overall. There aren't many opportunities to go on a night tour, and I enjoyed learning about other creatures and plants, as well as the stories from our guide about Ishigaki Island, even during the car rides!
I'll come back for a revenge trip during the new moon in summer! I'm glad I was able to rent rubber boots!

Unfortunately, due to the thick clouds after the typhoon, we couldn't see the starry sky, but we were able to spot many wild creatures. Although I couldn't capture them in photos, I saw an eel, a purple crab, a striped snake, and a long-legged spider. There were some difficult spots where we had to climb, but it reminded me of my childhood and was a lot of fun.

I originally wanted to see the starry sky and was looking for a tour. However, I was drawn in by the "photo of the coconut crab" and signed up for the night tour of the sea and jungle. I was very satisfied with the guide's attentive service, the enjoyable stories, and the chance to see the coconut crab, as well as witnessing the emergence of cicadas.
