Kerama Islands Half-Day Snorkeling Tour from Naha

First time snorkeling for my children and it didn't disappoint!
Reviewed by: Tokyo Mommy, 2021/08/23We had pretty flawless trip out to the Kerema Islands with Marine House Seasir. The tour was entirely in Japanese but the staff at the shop could speak some English. The place was easy to find and we could park about a block away near the port. After filling out our paperwork (in English), we could leave small valuables at the shop, we headed to the boat, which had ample space for everyone as well as equipped with showers, changing rooms, bathrooms all of our gear and even some fun extras like a water slide.
We were given a brief introduction to snorkeling by the staff and arranged into teams with a guide for each group on the boat. The guides were very bubbly and fun! Being this was my children's first time, this really put them at ease.
The ride out to the islands wasnt too long and we could enjoy the ocean breeze. Once we reached our point, we put on our gear and away we went into the water. Keep in mind, you are either required to wear a life vest or a wetsuit. If you forgo the wet suit, you must wear a life vest while snorkeling. We could see a variety of fish and living coral out on the reef as well as a sea turtle and sea snake. The guides encouraged us to stay together for the first half hour or so then we had a water break, After that we could choose what we would like to do. There were jet skis, banana boats and parasailing available for an extra fee, and using the waterslide was free and a lot of fun. You could also continue snorkeling as long as you stayed in the general vacinity of the boat.
The staff took pictures and gave us a QR code to get the pictures from a web site. Using that web site is a bit complicated and it isnt in English, so I needed some help from my Japanese husband when I got home.
Overall the trip was pretty good value for the money. I would certainly recommend it, especially for beginners.

Amazing snorkeling in Kerama
Reviewed by: 1st real snorkeling, 2018/10/26We've snorkeled before, but nothing way out into the ocean where you can see so much stuff! Okinawa was amazing! snorkeling off the Kerama Islands was amazing - there were sooooo many fish, and so many different kinds of fish!
Loved the half day experience because we didn't have too much time, and I worried my son and I would be quite tired on an all day trip.
Positives - the boat ride there was pretty nice. Heading back was a bit fast and I was a bit more sea sick, even after taking Dramamine (first time using the Natural Dramamine though).
Liked the fact that they take photos for us. (using a hero6 black, so nice camera)
We saw lots of lots of fish. I saw all kinds and even saw Nemo. :)
Negatives - There were a number of people on our tour so you have to get ready a bit faster... I felt a bit rushed trying to get my wetsuit on, and having to help my son put on two.. actually, their wetsuits were not the newest and maybe too thin so my son had to put on two.
Having to follow your tour guide snorkeling, he was quite quick so I ended up getting a bit tired fast. If we had a smaller group, or maybe if I wasn't with my son, it'd be a bit easier.
There was another mom with a younger 5 year old, and the guide actually pulled them using a boogie board so that is an option if you are going with younger children.
You have to shower on the boat so it's not really a shower where you can wash yourself with soap, etc.
Would I go again? Of course! It was amazing! But now I know what to expect . Seasir was an efficient company. Our guide spoke English and communication wasn't a problem.
Look forward to trying snorkeling again in other places soon!

Very nice snorkeling experience
Reviewed by: Jukka, 2018/07/21An excellent half day snorkeling tour! Booking online was easy and quick. It included pick-up at out hotel, promptly on time. The service was very friendly, and our guide spoke very good English. A great experience and a lot of fun! Would definitely recommend!
