I applied the evening before and received a call from the staff, which allowed me to participate smoothly. There were also foreign guests among the passengers, and I saw the staff explaining things using a smartphone. It was a tour that conveyed the desire for everyone to enjoy themselves.

前日夕方に申込みしましたが、スタッフの方よりの連絡を頂き、スムーズに参加出来ました。
乗船客の中には外国人の方もみえましたが、スマホ利用でスタッフの方が説明してる姿を拝見しました。みんなに楽しんで欲しいという気持ちが伝わってくるツアーでした。

On the day of the trip, it was sunny and the waves looked calm, but once we set sail, the boat rocked quite a bit. We took motion sickness medication, so we were fine, but many others seemed to be struggling with seasickness, and the staff appeared to be busy helping them. About two-thirds of the passengers were foreigners. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see any whales, which made half of our precious trip feel wasted. It seems that the chances of encountering them are quite low in late December. In February, however, they say you can see them almost every day. Although the internet advertised a high probability of sightings, it didn't specify the timing, so we were unaware. We received a re-boarding ticket, but it's difficult for travelers to return during that period.

当日は晴れて波も穏やかに見えましたが、出港すると船はかなり揺れました。
私達は酔い止めを飲んでいたので大丈夫でしたが、かなりの方は酔って辛そうでスタッフの方々もお世話に追われている感じでした。
客層は3分の2位が外国の方でした。
残念なことにクジラには会えず、貴重な旅行の半日無駄になってしまいました（ ; ; ）
12月下旬では遭遇確率はかなり低いらしいです。
2月になればほとんど毎日見られるとのこと。
ネットに高確率で遭遇と謳ってあっても時期が記載されてないのでわかりませんでした。
再乗船券をいただきましたが、旅行者がその期間に再訪するのは難しいです。

Saturday, January 14, 2023, in the afternoon. It was a 3-hour voyage. We saw one whale and a mother and calf, plus one male. I was moved when the dark whale appeared. Thank you to the captain and all the staff.

2023.1.14土曜午後。3時間の航海でした。1頭のくじらと親子+雄1頭の3頭。黒々とした鯨が出てきた時は感動しました。船長とスタッフの皆様ありがとうございました。

On the day of the trip, there were only seven participants, which may be why we set sail on a small boat. We headed out at quite a speed towards the open sea. I had no issues at all, but my family started feeling seasick early on and had a tough time.

As for the whales, I was able to see them several times, but unfortunately, my family didn't see any at all. I definitely recommend participating during the season when you can board a larger cruise.

当日は、７名の参加と少ない参加者となったためか、小さい船での出航となりました。かなりの沖合目指し猛スピードでした。私は全然問題なかったですが、船酔いが前半から始まり、辛い思いを家族はしてました。
肝心のクジラは、私は何度か見れましたが、残念ながら家族は全然見てませんでした。やはり、大型クルーズに乗れる時期の参加をお勧めします。

We gather at Chatan Fishing Port and head to the point by cruiser. They also sell drink-type motion sickness remedies at the reception, so if you forgot yours, you can purchase it here.

We arrive at the point in about an hour. There are many similar cruise ships docked, so it's easy to recognize where we are. At first, we spot a spout from a distance and then get closer. We approached within a meter, and from there, we saw it multiple times. We witnessed the spout and the whale coming up, doing a twist before diving back down several times. Although it wasn't very large, it was quite impressive!

I ended up feeling seasick, but it became a great memory. Even after taking motion sickness medicine, I still got seasick.

1時間ほどでポイントに到着。同じようなクルーズ船がたくさん停まっていますのでここだなとわかります。
初めは遠くで潮吹きを発見してその後近くまで行きます
1匹近くまで寄っていきここからは何度も見えました。潮吹きもですし頭を出して1回転ひねってまた入っていく姿を何度も見ました。大きくはなかったですがかなりの迫力！
自分は船酔いしてしまいましたが、いい思い出になりました。
酔い止め飲んでも酔います

Two days ago, there was an article in the newspaper about whales near Okinawa, and I thought it would depend on the captain whether we could find them. Luckily, we saw the whale's blow and a small whale jumping, which made me very satisfied. There was plenty of time for photography, and they provided explanations, so I felt at ease. I highly recommend it.

I'm glad we discovered the whales quickly! The staff member was guiding us on the direction whenever a whale appeared, so we were able to see them multiple times! The kids took motion sickness medication, but I definitely think adults need it too.

子供は酔い止め飲んでましたが、大人も酔い止めは確実に必要だと思いました。

In mid-March, I participated with my friend and my one-year-old son. The tour staff were all very cheerful and kind, and they were considerate of my son. Although it was our first time on a boat, we felt very safe and comfortable. We encountered whales four times in total, and on two occasions, we were able to see them right in front of us as they spouted water and raised their tails before diving, which was an overwhelming and thrilling experience. It was truly a precious experience, and I was able to feel the greatness of nature. While waiting for the whales to appear, we were taught various facts about them, which was very educational. During the waiting time, we were able to relax on the boat, enjoying the vast ocean and the scenery, which provided a wonderful escape from everyday life. For those who are prone to seasickness or lack confidence, I recommend taking motion sickness medication. It would be very unfortunate if such an emotional and thrilling experience turned into a time of discomfort, so even if you think you'll be fine, it might be a good idea to take the medication as a precaution.

3月中旬に友人と1歳になる息子と参加しました。
ツアーのスタッフさんは皆様とても明るく優しく息子の事にも気を遣ってくれました。そのためはじめての船でしたがとても安心して過ごすことができました。クジラには計4回遭遇できましてそのうち2回はほんとに目の前で潮吹き尻尾上げて潜っていく姿を見ることができ感動と感激の嵐でした。本当に貴重な体験をすることができやっぱり自然の素晴らしさと言うものを感じることができました。またクジラが出てくる間などはいろいろなクジラに関する知識を教えてくださりとても勉強になりました。クジラが出てくる間の待ち時間も船の上で大海原で原理にメールしまなどを見ながらまったりと過ごすことができ非日常な時間を過ごすことができました。船酔いをされる方またちょっと自信がない方は酔い止めを飲まれることをおすすめしますせっかくの感動感激な体験が気持ち悪い時間となってしまうのはとても残念に思いますのでぜひ自分は大丈夫だと思っても保険と思って酔い止めを飲んでおいていただくけると良いんじゃないかと思います。

The day before, the crew said they couldn't see anything, but it was amazing to see whales swimming right next to us. I was busy with my video camera, capturing every moment.

Even though they were so close, the whales swam gracefully without harming the boat, which was truly moving. There were some party-goers in the group who took off their masks and were making noise, but they were properly reminded to behave, which was a relief. The kids were almost all feeling seasick.

If you are prone to motion sickness, make sure to take medication; the boat does sway quite a bit.

前日は見えなかったと船の人が言ってたのが嘘みたいにクジラがすぐそばで泳いでいて、ビデオ、カメラ、ビデオ、カメラと大忙し。
こんなに近くにいるのに、船に害を与えずに優雅に泳いでいて感動しました。
団体様のパーリーピーポーな方々がマスクを外して騒いでいましたが、きちんと注意をしていたので一安心。子供達がほぼ船酔いしていました。
乗り物酔いする方必ず酔い止め服用しないとダメです。結構船揺れますよ。

Even though I didn't get to see any whales, I joined the cruise hoping to enjoy it. However, we were confined to fixed seats inside the boat for nearly three hours without standing up except for using the restroom. Perhaps due to the cold, the interior was closed off with a vinyl windbreak, and we returned to Naha without ever seeing the ocean from the deck. It felt like torture for those three hours. Even if we couldn't see any whales, I wished they would have stopped the boat for a break so we could stretch our bodies or get some fresh air on deck. I think they should consider having a guide provide attractions inside the boat like on a bus tour, show videos, or suggest ways to prevent seasickness. If everyone just stays silent on the boat, they will all get seasick. We were fine because we took motion sickness medication, but everyone else seemed to be struggling.

クジラを見られなくても、クルーズを楽しむつもりで参加しましたが、船内は固定席で、トイレ以外立ち上がることもなく、寒さのためかビニールの風除けのシートで閉じられた船内に3時間近く拘束され、途中デッキから海原を見ることもなく、那覇に帰港しました。拷問のような3時間でした。クジラが見られなくても、船をとめて休憩し、身体のストレッチをしたり、新鮮な空気を吸いにデッキに出して欲しかった。バス旅行のように中でガイドさんがアトラクションをするとか、映像を流すとか、酔い止めの方法を考えてあげるべきではないかとおもいます。ずっと、だまって船に乗っていれば皆んな船酔いするよね。私たちは酔い止めの薬を飲んでいたので大丈夫でしたが、みんな大変そうでした。

Since it was late December, I thought there was a high chance I wouldn't encounter any whales, but I decided to sign up since I was in Okinawa.

On the day of the trip, I expected only a few participants due to the time of year, but around 20 people joined. At the temporary reception, thorough infection prevention measures (such as hand sanitizer and mask-wearing) were in place, and motion sickness medication was also available for purchase.

We put on life jackets and set sail as planned. The pre-departure explanations were thorough. The boat was large, allowing us to maintain a comfortable distance from each other, and it felt like there was little rocking.

After about 30 minutes of sailing, when we arrived at the site, we saw several other boats (about five or six) anchored there. I was filled with a mix of silence and tension, wondering if we would really see whales in such a vast ocean. Suddenly, a staff member shouted, "Behind you!" When I turned around, I was thrilled to see three or four whales showing their dorsal fins and breathing. It was an emotional moment. They were close enough to see with the naked eye, without binoculars.

After the whales disappeared, the boat moved forward and stopped again. Then, three or four whales surfaced for air once more. I thought the captain's experience and incredible skill allowed us to anticipate where the whales would go and anchor there. We even had a brief moment where a whale surfaced right in front of us. The best part was when three whales swam just below the surface, and our boat was able to keep pace, allowing us to observe them up close. Encountering whales multiple times in such a vast ocean and in nature was an amazing experience.

時期的に１２月下旬だったので、鯨とは出会えないのではない確率が高いかもと思っていましたが、せっかく沖縄に来たのだからと思い申し込みました。
当日は、１２月下旬だったので数人程度の参加かなと思っていましたが２０人程度が参加していました。臨時に設けられた受付では、しっかりと感染予防対策（消毒液配置、マスク着用など）も取られ、かつ、酔い止め対策としての薬も売られていました。
ライフジャケットを着用し、予定どおり出航しました。現場に着くまでの事前説明なども丁寧でした。船は大型船だったので隣人とも適当な距離を保って座ることができ、揺れも少なかったように感じました。
出港して３０分ほど航行し、洋上の現場について船が止まると、他社の船（５、６隻）停泊していました。こんな広い海のところにピンポイントで停泊して本当に鯨を見られるかと思い、静寂とともに緊張感で一杯でした。すると、突然スタッフの方が「後ろ！！」と言いました。後ろを振り返ると、３，４匹のクジラが背びれを見せつつ、潮を吹いて呼吸をしている姿に出会えました。感動です。双眼鏡なしで肉眼で見える距離にいました。そして、鯨が見えなくなってから、船は前に進みまた停まりました。すると、また鯨が３、４頭で息継ぎで海面に出てきました。鯨の行き先を先回りをして停泊していたのは、船長の経験とすごい技術がなせる業ではないかと思いました。そして、一瞬ですが、鯨が頭を出して飛び出てくる場面にも遭遇できました。一番良かったのは、鯨が３頭で海面すれすれを泳いでいたときに、船も並走して、その様子をまじかに観察できたところです。こんなにも広い海で、自然の中で鯨に何度も出会えたのは最高の気分でした。

I participated on January 10, slightly earlier than peak season. I was able to see the whales jump about six times, which was amazing. If I could wish for anything, I would have liked to see the whales from a closer distance.

The staff's explanation about the signs of the whales appearing was also great. The whales jump in an instant and then dive back into the sea, so you can't afford to miss it. Thank you for the wonderful memories.

ピークよりやや早目の1月10日に参加しました。
クジラのジャンプが6回ほど見れて最高でした。
欲を言えば、もう少し近い距離からクジラを見たかったです。

スタッフさんのクジラが出てくる前触れの解説も良かったです。クジラは一瞬でジャンプしてまた海の中に入っていってしまうので見逃しては駄目だからです。
良い思い出をありがとうございました。

It can't be helped since they are wild creatures, but I was disappointed that I couldn't spot any whales. There was a distribution of re-boarding tickets, but I didn't get one since I couldn't go during my stay. The staff were bright and efficient, which was great.

野生の生き物なので仕方ないのですが、くじらを発見できず残念でした。再乗船券の配布もありましたが、滞在期間中には行けなかったので貰いませんでした。
スタッフの方の対応は明るくてきぱきしていて良かったです。

I couldn't see it in the morning, but I was able to see it! It was moving. It felt like we could only get as close as 30 meters. We couldn't get right next to it by boat. The total boat trip was 4 hours, so it was tiring. I went with three kids, and on the way back, everyone was asleep. Since the fatigue carries over to the next day, it might be better not to schedule anything for the following day. Everyone was kind and it was fun. We also got a lot of information about the whales. I'm glad I went!

午前中は見れなかったらしいのですが、
見れました！感動です。
30m先までしか近づけない感じでした。
船で隣まで近づくってことはないです。
合計4時間の船旅なので、疲れます。
子供３人と行きましたが、帰りは全員寝てました。
次の日も疲れ引きずるので次の日は予定を入れない方がいいかもしれないです。
みなさん親切で楽しいです。クジラの情報もたくさん得られます。行って良かった！

As we were nearing the return to port and a sense of resignation was settling in, we spotted a whale! I'm glad we were able to see it. The staff's assistance was also great, and we had a wonderful time.

もう帰港が間近になって半ば諦めムードが漂う中、クジラ発見！
観る事が出来て良かったです。
スタッフの方のアテンドも良く楽しむ事が出来ました。

I think giving up too quickly is a bit much. Just go for it, search a bit, and then come back quickly... I believe many people won't be able to board even if they get a re-boarding ticket due to scheduling, so I think it would be fine to offer refunds. I feel like the lack of urgency is because it's not a refund.

I don't know if it's because the place I went to before had a refund system, but I searched persistently. I was almost at the point of saying, "Stop it!" (laughs) In the end, I got to see a whale.

I don't think I'll come here again.

諦め早すぎるんじゃないかな～。
ガーっと行ってちょっと探してガーっと戻るって…
再乗船チケットもらっても日程的に乗れない人が多いと思うし、返金してもいいんじゃないかと。
返金じゃないから必死さが足りないんじゃないかと思う。

以前乗ったとこは返金制だったからかはわからないけど、ねちっこく探したな～。
もうやめて！って位に(笑)
結局クジラに会えた。

Thanks to the detailed explanations and the great vibes from the staff, it was the best experience. It was my first time whale watching, and they kindly explained what the highlights would be. Since it's a long boat trip, I recommend that those who are prone to seasickness prepare some motion sickness medication.

丁寧な解説といいバイブスのスタッフのおかげで、最高の経験になりました。
ホエールウォッチングは初めてでしたが、どんなポイントが見所なのか、丁寧に教えてくれました。
長い船旅ですので、船酔いしやすい方は酔い薬を準備しておくことをオススメします。

I was able to see four whales!

Initially, when I applied, I was told, "It's rough weather..." and the next day, "We don't have enough participants..." so I was half resigned to not going. However, I received a message saying, "The afternoon trip on January 31 will depart," and I participated.

I had joined a few years ago, but at that time, I could only see the splash after the jump, so I wanted to try again. To be honest, I wasn't expecting much, but they just kept coming—four of them, haha! I even got to see a sea turtle!

I also learned about whale behavior and their calls, so I was very satisfied.

When the blow (spout) happened, Mizuki, our tour guide, told us, "This means you'll have a happy year," and since it happened, it looks like this year will be a good one!

会えましたよ４頭も！

当初、申込したら「シケで…」とか、翌日は「人数が満たない…」と言われ半ば諦めていたのですが「1/31午後便出港になる」と連絡を頂き、参加してきました。

数年前にも参加したのですが、そのときはジャンプ後の波しぶきしか見れなかったのでリベンジ参加。
なので正直期待していなかったのですが、出るわ・出るわ４頭もｗｗ
ついでにウミガメにも会えるとは！

クジラの生態や、鳴き声等も学べたし満足でした。

潮吹き（ブロー）が掛かると、「その一年幸せになる」ともツアコンのミズキさんに教えて頂き、掛かったので今年は良い一年になりそ♪

I took the opportunity to participate since the period for whale sightings is limited. I was worried about seasickness, so I took some motion sickness medication before boarding the boat and arrived at the whale watching point. While overlooking the vast ocean, we waited on the deck for the whales to appear, but whether they show up or not is a matter of luck. In a way, I think it was a valuable experience!

せっかくの機会だし、クジラが現れてくれる期間も決まってるとの事なので参加させて頂きました。
船酔いが心配だったので酔い止めを飲んで参加し、船に乗ってホエールウォッチングポイントへ到着。
大海原を見渡しながら、クジラの出現を甲板上で待つ訳ですが、現れる、見える、見えたは運次第です。
ある意味、貴重な体験をしたとも思います！

I was able to see a mother and baby whale up close. On the way there, we couldn't see any, and we were told to look for them on the way back, so I was half resigned to not seeing them. However, the captain found them for us. Moreover, since it was on the way back, I thought we would only see them for a few minutes, but we were able to watch for about 30 minutes. I had a refund in February because I couldn't see any, so I'm glad I got to see them this time.

親子のホエールが、間近でシッカリと観れました。行きの船では見れず、帰りながら探します。と言われていたので、半分諦めていましたが、船長さんが見つけてくれました。しかも帰りなので、数分かなっと思っていたのですが、30分程見せて頂けました。2月に見れずに返金だったので、今回は見れて良かったです。

Since the participants gathered early, we departed from Hamakawa Fishing Port in Chatan before the scheduled time. The day before had been stormy, so although the weather improved, the waves were high, and we started the tour feeling anxious. After about 30 minutes of sailing, we stopped the boat because a whale was spotted. We saw the whale for a moment, but it quickly dove and disappeared. While the boat was moving, it was fine, but when we were anchored, the waves rocked the boat, and I started to feel seasick. We waited for the next whale while not feeling great. Although there weren't whales appearing one after another, I felt fortunate to see them up close, possibly thanks to the captain's skill, compared to another whale-watching boat nearby. I saw more whales than during a whale-watching tour I participated in last summer in Shiretoko, Hokkaido. One point I would like to mention is that the website should clearly indicate that there is a facility usage fee of 200 yen per person for departures from Chatan Port.

参加者が早めに揃ったので、定刻前に北谷浜川漁港を出港しました。
前日は嵐のような天気だったので、当日は回復したものの、波は高く不安を感じながらのツアー開始でした。
30分余り船は走ったところで、クジラ発見とのことで停泊します。
少しクジラは見えたのですが、すぐに潜ってしまい見えなくなります。
船を走らせているときは良いのですが、停泊していると波に揺られ船酔いが襲ってきます。気分のすぐれないなか次のクジラを待ちます。
次々とクジラが現れるということはなかったのですが、船長さんの腕が良かったのか、近くのもう一隻のウォッチング船よりも間近でクジラを見ることができ良かったと感じました。
以前夏に北海道知床で参加したホエールウォッチングよりもクジラを見ることができました。
一点、北谷港発は施設使用料が200円/人要することのHP上での表示をわかるようにして頂きたい。

I'm glad I was able to participate in the optional activity the day before the last day of my trip to Okinawa. There were only two couples, but we were able to see things up close. It was disappointing that we returned to port an hour earlier than scheduled. I overheard the staff talking and saying, "At least we got to see it," which was unfortunate.

沖縄旅行の最終日の前日にオプションを申し込みましたが、参加出来てよかったです。
２頭のカップルだけでしが、近くで見ることもできました。予定時間よりも、１時間も早く帰港したので残念でした。スタッフ同士の会話で(見れたからいいか)と、聞こえそれは残念でした。

The weather was not favorable, and the sea was rough, which caused a lot of seasickness, but we were able to see whales somehow. If I have the chance, I would like to try again.

天候に恵まれず海が荒れた為、大変な船酔いとなりましたが、なんとかクジラを見ることができました。
機会があったら、再挑戦してみたいです。

The day I made my reservation, the weather was bad, and it got canceled, but I was able to go the next morning on an earlier flight. I appreciated the shuttle service to the hotel, especially since I'm directionally challenged. I took motion sickness medication before participating, so I was able to enjoy the experience without suffering from seasickness. Unfortunately, I didn't get to see a whale jump, but I did see a mother and her newborn baby whale, and I was moved by the multiple sightings of spouting.

予約した日は天候不良でキャンセルになりましたが次の日の午前便で行く事が出来ました
ホテルまでの送迎があるのが方向音痴の私にはありがたかったです
酔い止めを飲んで参加したので船酔いに苦しむ事なく楽しめました
残念ながら鯨のジャンプは見れなかったけれど生まれたばかりの赤ちゃん鯨の親子が見れたし、潮吹きは何度も見れて感動しました

The wait for the whales was long, but we were able to encounter them safely! Many guests were feeling unwell due to the rough boat movements, but the staff were very kind and accommodating, which was great!

クジラ待ちの時間が長かったですが、無事にクジラに遭遇することができました！船の揺れが激しくて気分が悪くなっているゲストが沢山いましたが、スタッフのみなさんがとても親切に対応されていて、良かったです！

I highly recommend it.

I participated in February, and the temperature was around 26 degrees with cloudy weather. Since I tend to get hot, a short-sleeve shirt was fine for me, but I think it's a good idea to have a light long-sleeve shirt prepared. It sways a lot, so I recommend taking motion sickness medication in advance. I was truly moved to see whales jump twice. It's a recommended tour.

是非お勧めします。

2月の参加でしたが、気温26度位で曇り。
私は暑がりなので半袖で大丈夫でしたが、薄い長袖を用意してると良いと思います。
よく揺れるので、前もって酔い止めを服用しておく事をお勧めします。
2回クジラがジャンプするとこが見れて、本当に感動しました。
お勧めのツアーです。

I was looking for activities in Okinawa during winter, so I participated in whale watching for the first time. On the day of the trip, we only saw the heads of the whales a few times, and we couldn't see any jumps or spouts. However, it was exciting to watch the sea, wondering when we would see them!

Regarding seasickness, I took motion sickness medication beforehand, so I was fine. Some passengers seemed to be sitting in the corners of the boat and couldn't see the whales. It seems that those who are prone to motion sickness should take medication in advance.

冬の沖縄のアクティビティを探していたので、ホエールウォッチングに初めて参加しました。当日はクジラの頭が数回見える程度で、ジャンプや潮吹きは見ることができませんでした。ですが、いつ見えるかドキドキしながら海を見るのは面白かったです！
船酔いについてですが、酔い止めを事前に飲んでいたので私は大丈夫でした。一部の乗客は船の隅に座り込んでいてクジラを見ることはできなかったようです。乗り物酔いをする方は事前に内服していたほうがよさそうです。

I was able to participate with peace of mind without having to search for the meeting place, thanks to the shuttle service. I am grateful that there was a shuttle just for my daughter and me. Although it was a time when there were few whales, we were lucky enough to see three of them. It was a great experience.

送迎があったので、集合場所を探すことなく、安心して参加できました。娘とたった二人のために送迎があったことには感謝です。時期的にはクジラが少ない時でしたが、運良く3頭も見られました。良い体験ができました。

After making the reservation, I was worried when I checked the weekly weather forecast and saw that strong winds and rain were expected. However, two days before the reservation date, I received a call from the organizer informing me that the trip had been canceled, so I was able to rebook for the afternoon course the next day.

On the day of the trip, the waves were still a bit high, which made me a little anxious, but we set sail as planned. The high-speed journey to the watching point was thrilling, like a roller coaster!

At the point, we went up to the deck and searched for the splashing waves, moving here and there. We were able to catch a glimpse of a mother and baby whale's back and tail.

I heard that the peak season is around April, so I would love to come back. Overall, it was a satisfying tour.

予約した後に、週間天気予報を見たら風雨が強そうだっので心配していたら、予約日の前々日に主催者さんから電話をいただき、欠航が決まったとのことなので翌日の午後のコースに再予約していただきました。
当日もやや波が高くてちょっと心配しましたが、予定通り出航。ウォッチングポイントまでのハイスピード航行もジェットコースターのようにスリリングで楽しめました！
ポイントではデッキに上がり、吹き上げる潮を探してあっちへこっちへ。なんとか親子連れクジラの背中と尾びれを見ることができました。
トップシーズンは4月ごろとのことなので、また来たいです。おおむね満足できたツアーでした。

I participated in a whale watching tour departing from Hamakawa Fishing Port in Chatan in January 2020. After completing registration at 9 AM, we waited briefly, and the large cruiser set sail at 9:30 AM. (By the way, the women's restroom at Hamakawa Fishing Port was very crowded, so those needing to use it should be cautious.)

About 30 minutes into our journey out to sea, we received an announcement on the boat that a whale had been spotted! As I strained my eyes to look in the direction the staff pointed, I saw a blow! That day, the whales were so active that the staff were surprised, and we were lucky enough to witness 5 to 6 breaches (jumps) within about an hour, allowing for some great photo opportunities.

For photography, it's best to use a wide-angle burst mode. I initially tried to zoom in, but due to the rocking of the boat, my shots ended up blurry. Fortunately, since there were multiple breaches, I managed to get some good shots, but if it had been a single occurrence, I would have missed it.

Regarding the boat's rocking, it's said that winter often has rougher seas, so it's wise to prepare accordingly. The day I participated had relatively calm waves, but once we spotted the whales and were stopped, repeatedly moving slowly forward and backward with several other boats in the area, it rocked enough that you couldn't stand without holding onto something. Therefore, unless you are accustomed to boat fishing or have a strong vestibular system, it's advisable to take motion sickness medication.

2020年1月にこの北谷浜川漁港発ホエールウォッチングに参加しました。午前9時に受付を終えてしばし待機、船は大型のクルーザーで9時30分に出航しました。（ちなみに女性の方は浜川漁港内のトイレが非常に混んでいましたので用を足す方は注意をしたほうがいいです。）
沖へ向けて30分ほど走ったところで待望のクジラを見つけたとの船内アナウンスが！揺れる船内で必死に目を凝らして探しているとスタッフの方が指さした方向にブロー（潮吹き）が！そしてこの日はスタッフの方が驚かれるくらいにクジラが活発で幸運にもブリーチ（ジャンプ）を1時間ほどの間に5～6回もしてくれるという何ともラッキーな日でしたので写真撮影にも成功しました。
撮影は広角の連射で狙いましょう。私は最初ズームで狙っていましたが船内の揺れのためブレにブレてしまいました。上記のように複数回のブリーチをしてくれましたので事なきを得ましたが、これが単発の場合は取り返しがつかなくなります。
船の揺れについては冬はやはり波高がある日が多いとのことですので、ある程度用意はしたほうがいいです。私が参加した日は比較的波が穏やかでしたが、それでもクジラを見つけてからの停船、微速前進や後退を繰り返している時は周りに同じ目的の船が複数隻いることもあり、何かに掴まっていないと立ち続けられないくらい揺れましたので、船釣りをするや三半規管が丈夫な方以外は酔い止めを服用したほうが無難と思います。
