Robo Caberet really capitalizes on our expectations.

Reviewed by: Tylorprime, 2016/09/18

The Robo caberet was a great silly show with lots of costumes lights and flare. The meal was decent for only 1000 yen. Drinks were reasonable 5-800 yen (the se as any of the bars) and the show was a fun spectacle. Would recommend to anyone going to Tokyo.

Great for kids

Reviewed by: Taylor , 2016/09/02

We were walking all day through shrines and castles, so this was a treat for the kids to enjoy at the end of the day. Loud, energetic, and dressed up characters from movies and TV shows of when I was a little kid. Made me feel young again!

Robot restaurant

Reviewed by: Ado, 2016/08/28

We bought tickets for robot restaurant through Veltra, a company I was dubious about as they were offering a larger discount than any other vender and which I had previously never heard of them. Alas, I can confirm the tickets/offer was perfectly legit and I will be booking future tickets through veltra from now on.

Robot restaurant itself can only be described as an assault on your senses. It is pure and utter madness from start to finish. Think of it being like watch a live action power rangers film on steroids. We thoroughly enjoyed it and would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to see something a little different while in japan, especially if you like watch movies which make you cringe. I don't know what else to say, I've never experienced a show quite like this one.

How Japanese can you possibly get?

I loved this show much! It was super techno with lights and hot chicks. It was all the things you think about when you think "Japan". The people were super friendly and helped us out big time. We accidentally bought tickets for the wrong day but they let us exchange them. You have to go!

The show was pretty cool - my 10 yo daughter really enjoyed herself, and the dancers all had great stage presence. Don't expect a great plotline for the show, just sit back and enjoy the dazzle. It's fun and unique. Veltra had the best ticket discount, and the process went smoothly - showing a screenshot of the ticket on my phone to the guy at the door, as I was on vacation, without a printer. No issues at all.

Robot (none) Resturant

Reviewed by: Amy, 2016/08/04

The website is a bit misleading as there are really no robot in the entire show. We are a bit disappointed as we have high expectation to see sophisticated robots. Mainly it is a lot of dancers dancing and dancers inside a robot machine dancing. The place is a bit run down, it is quite difficult to find as it keep pointing to different direction, at the end we have to go down all the way to the basement. Before the show we have to wait in areas where there are no seats left at all and only drinks are available to entertain. The food is really terrible, close to uneatable food even if u are really really hungry. The dancing performance might be the only thing that is a bit more exciting. I will give 2-3 stars out of a 5.

Creative, Dynamic, & Futuristic

Think of it as an electric night parade, Fantasmic style show, sailor moon cosplay, power rangers, and harujuku art! It was lovely and the breaks every 15 min were useful in allowing us to catch up with friends, go to the bathroom, & relax our ears!! It's like letting your inner 5 year old come out to play, imagine, battle, dance, & wonder!

Disappointed

Reviewed by: Harm, 2016/07/23

After visiting Miraikan and seeing Asimo, we expected much from the Robot Restaurant. But in contrary were presented with circus of people trying to behave as robots. The only lasting impression were the loudness of the music and the incessant urge to sell popcorn.
The guitar player in the lobby did a great performance, he should consider moving to a jazz bar.

Brief show with no plot

Reviewed by: Pavel, 2016/07/07

The show offers a dose of odd fun. I gave it 3 stars for the following reasons:

-it's too short for the cost of admission.
-there's down time for set up of chained walls. I understand safety is important however this time can be used to further entertain the audience with a smaller act that doesn't interfere with other staff setting up the chained barriers.
-there's additional down time to hand out glow sticks. Why can't they hand out glow sticks while others are setting up the chained barrier.
-there's too many breaks to sell booze. I got taken out of the fun because there was so much down time.

In sum, it seems like there can be more show for the dollar value instead of what I described. Lastly, this performance is geared to entertaining foreigners. Expect to be sitting in a room full people who speak English.

Futuristically Westernized

Reviewed by: Newbie Travelers, 2016/07/01

The show was out of this world and was one of our highlights for our trip to Japan.
It was interesting to see how they can fit all the robots / floats within such a small stage area. There was so little room that they had to remind everyone to stay within their seats to avoid accidents. The show was spoken in english and appeared to be for westerners as the audience was 100% westerners. It would've been nice to watch the show when the audience was predominantly japanese. The show was considerably short since intermission was every 15 minutes. By the end of the show, we probably watched an hour of robot show in total.

Fun moments, Slow Moments, Frustrating moments

Reviewed by: RipperP, 2016/06/20

In it's best moments, it's wacky, fun, colorful, loud, and nothing like I've ever seen. At it's worst, it's a contrived tourist trap and feels like they're trying to milk everyone who walked through the door for every last dime. Everyone who shows up prior to the show goes upstairs to a room with insufficient seating, a musician playing solo, and drinks and snacks overpriced to a degree I have not seen anywhere else in Japan (300 yen for a bottle of water, 500 yen for a soda). Then everyone heads down 4 or 5 flights of very colorful stairs to the basement, and packs into rows of seats. I did not opt for any of the food except popcorn, which was OK. The show consists of a few unrelated acts, each with its own vapid theme of intense multi-sensory stimulation, and separated by long (hot) breaks where they are hocking overpriced drinks and snacks. My 65-year old father, who is usually up for anything, was totally unamused and actually fell asleep during the madness. My 9 and 11-year-old nephews said it was a "7 out of 10." If I could go back in time, I would advise myself to skip it and spend more time in Odaiba or one of the theme cafes, or just walking around one of the many great neighborhoods in Tokyo. Skip it, unless you really like this colorful, weird, loud, cheesy Japanese sort of thing and don't mind doing an unabashed foreign tourist activity (zero Japanese people were in attendance).

  • It's difficult to find any spots that aren't colorful and shiny.

An explosive array of lights and sounds

Reviewed by: Daniel M, 2016/06/13

Nothing about this show is supposed to be in depth. Embrace the flashiness of the show and soak it all in. Don't be surprised at the show being in 10 minute intervals with breaks to sell you junk. Don't eat there. Drinks are moderately overpriced. The show is supposed to be constantly changing. Recommended for something unique.

A local described this as "this is very popular with foreigners." It's true. The only people in the audience were tourists. That being said, it was very entertaining. Do not get the food. Just get the booze.
The price of the ticket only includes the show, but if you get over the cost, it's really fun and ridiculous.
