    edo-utsushie舞台裏1 Take a seat in the theater to watch a magic lantern performance of the Japanese folktale, "Daruma Yobanashi". Watch the comical movements of the Daruma projected as the storyteller accompanies the story with live sound effects. The performance will be in Japanese with an English pamphlet.

Japanese magic lanterns was first introduced by the Dutch nearly 200 years ago with a metallic shadowgraph projector. The Japanese later made a wooden projector that was more flexible.

    teashi The staff will show you five basic magic lantern techniques created by the Japanese. Out of the five, select one you want to try and give it a shot yourself!

    DSC00266 Slip back in time to explore Fukagawa during the Edo period. Lifesize replicas of houses, shops and inns are available for you to go in and take photos of. An English-speaking guide will explain the details as you tour around (pamphlets in Korean, Chinese, French, Spanish are available).

    Before ending your tour, wear a yukata (light cotton kimono) with the old Japanese city as a background and snap a memorable photo (one photo per person).
