The outdoor lunch on the snow was canceled due to bad weather, and I was disappointed in the bus. Before heading to the Snow Wall, I asked Mr. Otsuka for a place to eat, and he kindly guided me. After that, he helped dig a spot with a shovel to create a kotatsu-like area, making it much easier to enjoy my lunch, which was truly impressive. The Snow Wall was also great, with no wind and not too cold.

雪の大谷に行く前に大塚さんに食べる場所を教えて貰おうと伺ったら、案内して頂きました。それからスコップで掘り炬燵みたいにしてもらって、お弁当が食べやすくなり感動しました。

It was a very enjoyable and satisfying tour. The guide's explanations were very interesting, and I learned a lot about the charm of Toyama. I wanted to take more time to explore the museum. Without worrying about transportation times, we took a direct bus from Toyama Station to Murodo! It was surprisingly easy on the body, to the point where I want to do it this way again next time. Although the weather wasn't perfectly clear, the stunning panorama of the snow walls and the Tateyama and Tsurugi mountains blew that away. The impressive snow walls towering far above the bus were truly a case of "seeing is believing." If you head towards Mikurigaike on the snowy path… you'll be greeted by a rock ptarmigan! Spreading out our lunch on a snow table while gazing at Toyama Bay and the Noto Peninsula was also a delightful experience. The experience of this extraordinary space and time was truly rare. I listened to a curator's talk at the "Tateyama Caldera Sabo Museum" near Tateyama Station, but I felt that this place deserved more time to explore. It would be a shame to rush through it!

乗り物の時間を気にすることなく、富山駅から室堂までバスで直行！
次の機会もこの方式にしたいと思った程、予想以上に身体に楽だった。
快晴ではなかったものの、それを吹き飛ばすような雪の大谷と立山・剣岳のパノラマは素晴らしかった。

I've always wanted to see the Snow Wall at least once, but the thought of the hassle of getting to Tateyama lingered for years. While browsing tours on Veltra, I discovered this one! Although the participation fee was not exactly cheap, I concluded that it was a reasonable amount. I joined with almost no prior knowledge, but the explanations were very clear, and the Snow Wall I saw afterward was deeply moving. Perhaps because I was tense while walking on the snowy path, I was sore all over the next day. Thank you for organizing such a wonderful tour.

I have been to Tateyama for climbing twice before. I was moved by the scenery that unfolded when I arrived at Murodō after transferring vehicles from the Nagano Prefecture side. While watching the sunset over the western horizon from Raichōsō, I thought to myself that over there was Toyama City and that the sea was already the Japan Sea.

And this time, on my third visit, I was amazed to experience something several times more moving than before, coming from Toyama City. First, I was surprised that the 3,000-meter peaks were only about 35 kilometers away in a straight line. Although I live in Kanagawa Prefecture, where the sea is nearby, it takes several hours to reach the Alps in Nagano Prefecture. That terrain is unique to Toyama Prefecture. I also enjoyed the deep sea and the delicious white shrimp. Lunch on the snow was the best. Traveling with someone knowledgeable about the area made it even more special. It became a memory I will never forget. Thank you very much. Please take care of yourself in such a harsh natural environment.

Although it was clearly foggy with light rain and the view was non-existent, I had a great time! Despite it being a closed day, we started with a detailed explanation at the Sabo Dam Museum, and at Murodo and Ohtani, I was informed that there was enough time to enjoy the Mikurigaike Onsen.

At the snow-covered Ohtani, the tourists were relatively sparse, making it easy to enjoy the movement. I headed to the onsen while eating Tateyama soft serve, relaxed in the hot spring, and even encountered the target bird, the ptarmigan, and was able to hear its call.

Above all, on the return route, I had the vast snowfield all to myself, which I think was a rare experience in Tateyama. I felt that I was able to fully enjoy the pleasures that come with this kind of weather. The snow wall was at its lowest at 11 meters, having melted a bit from the previous 13 meters. I enjoyed it quite a bit, but I was surprised by how many foreigners were there. The tour included experiences that you can't have on a personal trip, such as drinking spring water, listening to talks about erosion control, and having lunch on the snow. There was some fog along the way, but the weather was nice at the top of the mountain, and the scenery was beautiful. It turned out to be a fun trip without feeling cold at all.

I had always wanted to see the Snow Wall. After searching for a tour departing from Toyama with relatively short travel time compared to bus tours from travel agencies, I found this tour. Given the weather and the unusually high temperatures in May, I didn't have high expectations, but I ended up having a very enjoyable and satisfying day.

*I received plenty of explanations about Toyama, Tateyama, ice, water, plants, and the Japanese rock ptarmigan, allowing me to learn a lot beyond just seeing the Snow Wall.
*Having lunch while sitting in a kotatsu dug into the snow, with the provided mat and enjoying the view, was an exceptional experience.
*Mr. Otsuka, our guide, provided excellent commentary, and the arrangement of the tour itinerary was fantastic. Just as described in the tour page's guide introduction, he wanted everyone to experience the awe of Tateyama, and this tour truly allowed us to feel that.

It was forecasted to rain, but although the wind was strong, we managed to avoid getting wet.
I participated from Toyama City, and I had a great time learning so many new things.
It mentioned stopping by a spring, so we were discussing whether to bring something to put it in, but I was happy to receive a cute bottle.
The snow wall, the snowy mountains, and the waterfall were all incredibly impressive.
I was very satisfied to see the ptarmigan as well.
Walking in the snowy mountains left my body sore the next day, but I really enjoyed it.

Last year, the trip was canceled due to falling rocks, so this time it was a revenge trip. The snow at the Great Snow Wall exceeded my expectations. We heard stories and quizzes about Toyama's abundant water from Mr. Otsuka. It's an easy day trip bus tour. Having lunch on the snow while gazing at the Tateyama mountain range was fantastic. We walked through the snow from Murodo and were lucky to spot a pair of cute ptarmigans just before Mikurigaike. I want to go again next year.

昨年は落石でキャンセルとなり今回はリベンジでした。期待以上の雪の大谷。大塚さんから富山の豊富な水のお話やクイズあり。日帰りで楽々いけるバスツアーです。立山連峰を眺めながらの雪上ランチも最高。室堂から雪の中を歩き、みくりが池手前のところで可愛い雷鳥のツガイにも会えてラッキーでした。来年も行きたいです。

Without the guide, I might have just ended up looking at the Snow Wall, but thanks to participating in the tour, I was able to walk on the snowfields of Murodo and conduct various experiments, learning about how to build snow walls and the properties and characteristics of snow. There was also a fun tea time with coffee and cocoa prepared by the guide, which was really enjoyable. I was very satisfied to see the rock ptarmigan as well.

I was worried because the forecast predicted rain, but thanks to the guide's arrangements, we were able to change our plans and see the snow wall. 以前から行きたかった雪の壁。今年は雪も多かったのでチャンスと思いツアーに参加しました。雨予報だったのでどうなるかと心配していましたがガイドさんの計らいで予定を変更して頂き何とか雪の壁を見る事が出来ました。ただ雨ではなく雪になりかなり吹雪いていたのが残念でした。

On the day of the tour, unfortunately, there was thick fog, and everything around us was completely white. However, thanks to Mr. Otsuka's wonderful guidance, the bad weather didn't matter, and it turned into an amazing tour!

I brought trekking shoes, a down jacket for climbing, and gloves. I met our guide, Mr. Otsuka, in the lobby of Hotel Tateyama. He mentioned that the snow had become quite soft, and they offered to lend us snowshoes or rubber boots for free, so I decided to borrow snowshoes and trekking poles to start our trek!

Although everything was white around us, we were able to see a pair of ptarmigans. Mr. Otsuka used slides to explain their ecology in an engaging way, which was very educational. Additionally, he was very knowledgeable about snow, explaining the meaning, density, and weight of snow layers scientifically, which was fascinating! Thanks to Mr. Otsuka's pre-tour briefing, I was able to appreciate the Snow Wall much more deeply!

I was moved to realize that things that might not be clear when visiting the Snow Wall or Tateyama can become so much more appealing with the assistance of a professional guide like him! I definitely want to request Mr. Otsuka's guidance again when I visit Tateyama in the summer!

当日はあいにくの霧で、周りは真っ白でしたが、大塚さんの素晴らしいガイドで悪天候もなんともない素晴らしいツアーになりました！

当日はトレッキングシューズと登山用のダウン・手袋などを持っていきました。
ホテル立山のロビーでガイドの大塚さんと合流しました。
雪がだいぶゆるくなってきているとのことで、スノーシューもしくは長靴を無料で貸し出してもらえるとのことだったので、せっかくなので、スノーシューとストックを借りて、トレッキングスタートです！

あたりは真っ白でしたが、雷鳥のつがいを見ることもでき、雷鳥の生態なども丁寧に説明のスライドなどを使って、適宜面白く説明してくれたので、非常に勉強になりました。
また、大塚さんは雪について非常に博識な方で、雪層の意味や密度、重さなども実際に科学的にご説明してくれて、非常に面白かったです！
この事前の大塚さんレクのお陰で、雪の大谷もかなり興味深く見ることができました！

雪の大谷単体や立山観光だとわからないことも、こうしたプロのガイドさんのアテンドがあれば、こんなにも魅力あるものになるのか！と思い感動しました！
夏に立山に行く際にも、ぜひまた大塚さんのガイドをお願いしたい！と思った次第です！

It was nice to see the snow walls slowly, but it was truly a cold Golden Week. It's a shame I couldn't make it to Mikuri-ga-ike. It was a snowstorm, haha.

I searched and signed up for a tour just with "Toyama Station departure, Snow Wall Walk, Golden Week," and it was a great decision! I never expected to have such a fun day.

The itinerary involved tracing the theme of water and snow along the Joganji River, and I thoroughly enjoyed the deepened experience of the Snow Wall Walk. It excites me to think that there is still so much to learn in the world.

Tours with a theme are really interesting. I hope to see more of these kinds of tours.
