With the local bus, you can only visit either Yakusugi Land or Jomon Sugi, and I was also considering using a taxi for one way, so I decided immediately after seeing the tour price.

It was really helpful to leave my large luggage on the bus and enjoy sightseeing, and I appreciated being taken to my hotel in the Onojima area after the tour.

Additionally, I was grateful for the guide's consideration for guests who could only walk slowly. Having a guide made it easy to understand the highlights, and if I have the opportunity to visit Yakushima again, I would like to join the morning course as well. Thank you very much.

一泊二日の屋久島旅行。初日の午後から限られた時間でヤクスギランドと紀元杉をいかにして回ろうかとリサーチしていたところこのツアーを発見。路線バスではヤクスギランドか紀元杉のどちらかしか回れず、片道はタクシー利用も考えていたのでツアー代金を見て即決。
雨がパラつく中、大きな荷物をバスにおいて観光できたのと、ツアー後に尾之間エリアのホテルまで送っていただけたのは本当に助かりました。

また、ガイドさんの、ゆっくりしか歩けないゲストへの気配り心配りもありがたかったです。案内が付くことで見どころもよくわかり、また屋久島に行く機会があれば、午前のコースにも参加したいです。

I participated the day after trekking at Shiratani Unsuikyo. I was suffering from severe muscle pain due to my lack of exercise, but it was great to be able to enjoy sightseeing comfortably. For those who want to take their time to see each spot, the sightseeing time might feel a bit short, but considering that it's possible to cover everything in one day, I think it's sufficient. I appreciated the thoughtful gestures, like allowing my companion with back pain to use the back seat and stopping the bus when we spotted a family of monkeys along the way. The only downside was that the Western Forest Road was closed, but I believe it gives me something to look forward to next time.

白谷雲水峡トレッキングの翌日に参加しました。日頃の運動不足がたたってバリバリの筋肉痛だったのですが、楽して観光が出来てとても良かったです。一つ一つをじっくり見たい方には少し観光時間が物足りないかもしれませんが、1日で回れることを考えれば充分だと思います。腰痛持ちの同行者のために後部座席を使わせて頂いたり、途中やくざるの親子がいればバスを止めて下さったり細やかな気遣いが有り難かったです。唯一、西部林道が通行止めだったのが残念ですが、次の楽しみが出来たと思っています。

I didn't feel tired at all on the way to Jomon Sugi, but I was very tired on the way back. However, Mr. Ando kept the conversation going without interruption, which made it easier to walk. Additionally, it was great that he created different topics from different perspectives on the way there and back. The weather forecast predicted rain. When I arrived at the trailhead, there was a rainbow! The sun also peeked through. It rained for about two hours on the way back. I was anxious about participating alone, but everyone in the same group was also participating solo, which made it fun. Waking up at 3 AM, the long trek on the cart path, the tough mountain climbing, and finally seeing the size of Jomon Sugi was truly moving. Even though it was beyond the fence, I was overwhelmed by its presence, having lived there since ancient times. All my fatigue disappeared, and I was just so glad to have come.

We were part of a group of about eight people, including a veteran guide full of love for Yakushima and a newcomer who had moved to Yakushima. At first, the walking pace felt a bit fast, but considering the long journey and the frequent breaks, the time management was excellent.

The guide's stories about Yakushima's nature and history were very interesting.

朝３時起き、長いトロッコ道、キツイ山登り、その先に会えた縄文杉の大きさに感動でした。柵の向こうだけど、太古の昔からそこに生き続けている存在感には圧倒されました。疲れも吹っ飛び、ただただ、来れて良かった。

As a retirement celebration, my spouse and I planned a trip to Yakushima. At 62 years old, I had no climbing experience and no exercise habits, but I was drawn to the world of "Spirited Away" and wanted to visit Yakushima. Since I couldn't keep up with the pace of a group tour, we opted for a private tour.

I started practicing going up and down stairs ten days before the trip. I really wanted to reach the moss-covered forest, but I didn't think I could make it to Taiko Rock. However, our guide took more than 1.5 times the usual time, stopping frequently to explain the plants and share interesting insights about Yakushima's nature and his own experiences (he was a local). This allowed us to take breaks for our bodies and minds, and we were able to reach Taiko Rock.

The weather was bad in the morning at the moss-covered forest, but by the time we reached Taiko Rock, the weather cleared up, and we were able to enjoy the breathtaking views.

Even though we were running over time, our guide, Mr. Iwakawa, slowed down the car to look for Yakuzaru and Yakushika along the road, and he stopped at scenic spots, showing a spirit of hospitality that we truly appreciated.

　退職記念として夫婦で屋久島旅行を計画しました。62歳で全く登山経験はもちろん、運動習慣がなかったのですが、千と千尋の世界の白谷雲水峡にあこがれて屋久島を訪れました。団体ツアーのペースにはついて行けないので、プライベートツアーにしました。
　10日前から階段上り下りの練習を始めました。苔むす森まではどうしても行きたいと思いましたが、その先の太鼓岩までは行けると思っていませんでした。でもガイドさんが通常の1.5 倍以上の時間をかけて、小刻みに立ち止まって、植物の説明や、屋久島の自然や（地元の方だそうで）ご自身の経験など興味深い説明を数分して頂き、身体と心の休憩を取りながら、太鼓岩まで行くことができました。
　午前中の苔むす森まではお天気が悪かったのですが、太鼓岩に着く頃には、天気も上がって絶景を楽しむことができました。
　時間が超過しているにもかかわらず、帰りの車でも道路付近にヤクザルやヤクシカがいないか、車のスピードを緩めて探して下さったり、景色の良いところで、車を止めて下さったりと、おもてなしの心にあふれてみえて、とてもありがたかったです。
　ガイドの岩川さんのおかげで、感動的な旅になりました。本当にありがとうございました。

The weather was favorable, and I was able to complete the hike much more easily than I expected. I had been concerned about leeches, but there were no leeches or even mosquitoes, and I wasn't bitten by any bugs at all. There were cold and delicious spring waters available everywhere, making it easy to gather water, but I was worried about a lack of salt, so I brought salt tablets for heatstroke prevention.

There might be fewer toilets than expected for the length of the journey, with one at the trailhead and one along the trolley path. There are occasionally spaces for portable toilets, so those who are concerned might want to bring one. I have a sensitive stomach, so I felt a bit uneasy when my stomach got cold from sweating, and I thought I should have brought something. If you're using trekking poles, I found it easier to walk with one pole rather than two. I ordered lunch boxes for both breakfast and lunch, but the portions might be a bit too much for women. I felt it was just right to split one into breakfast and lunch. Depending on the situation, there might be things you can't do, but I really appreciated being able to stop by the river on the way back to cool my feet. After that, my steps felt much lighter. トイレは登山口、トロッコ道の途中にひとつ、山に入る前にひとつと行程の長さのわりには少ないかもしれません。携帯トイレ用のスペースは時々あるので、心配な人は携帯トイレを持参した方が良いかもしれません。私はお腹が弱いので、汗でお腹が冷えてきて途中少し不安になり、持参すれば良かったと思いました。ストックを使う場合は2本より1本の方が歩きやすかったです。お弁当を朝昼両方注文しましたが、ちょっと女性には量が多いかもしれません。私はひとつを朝昼に分けて食べるくらいでちょうど良いと感じました。おそらく状況によってできないこともあると思いますが、帰路に川に立ち寄って足を冷やさせてもらえたのがすごく良かったです。その後とても足取りが軽くなりました。ランチの時にお味噌汁を配っていただけたのもありがたかったです。ありがとうございました。

We circled the island in a small bus, including narrow forest roads. There was plenty of time to explore the main sightseeing spots. We visited Yakusugi trees, waterfalls, banyan trees, and turtle nesting sites, and for lunch, we had a fried flying fish set meal. The guide's explanations were very interesting, and I learned a lot about the island's history and nature. I participated alone, but the guide kindly took photos for me, which made for great memories. It was a lot of fun.

I have zero mountain climbing experience and consider myself not very fit, but I decided to go for it. (laughs)
Since the ascent and descent time for the Jomon Sugi course is limited, we had to maintain a steady pace. The trolley part was fine, but the mountain path was hard for beginners.

[Guide]
Our guide was Saito, a veteran who was born and raised in Yakushima. He was excellent.
He shared not only knowledge about the mountains and forests but also tips on photography.
He adjusted the pace of the tour and break timings while observing the situation of the climbing group to avoid crowded popular photo spots. Thanks to him, I was able to take beautiful pictures.
Additionally, before we started climbing the main mountain path, he assessed the climbing experience of the group members on a short trail and adjusted the order of ascent and descent.

サイトウさんという屋久島生まれ育ちのベテランガイドさんでした。とても良かったです。
山や森の知識もちろん、撮影方法ま教えてもらいました。
当時登山グループの状況を見ながら、人気撮影スポットの込み具合を避けて、ツアーのペースや休憩タイミングを調整してました。おかげ様で、きれいな写真を撮れました。
また、本番山道登る前に、短い山道で当日メンバーの山登り経験を見極めて、上下山の並び順を調整してました。

[装備]
履き慣れて、山道でもすべりにくいがとても大事です！持ってない場合、新しく買うより、レンタルの登山靴がおすすめです。
当日スニーカーで捻挫した20代の方が見かけました。

レインウェアあっても、折り畳み傘が必要です。雨のとき、露天でお弁当食べるとき用…笑

[その他]
ホテル:色んなところの迎えや、お弁当の受け取りなど含め、あれこれ１時間以上かかります。早朝結構早いので、少しでも多く寝たい方は安房のホテルがいいと思います。

The weather forecast predicted rain. Yakushima is mostly rainy throughout the year. With low expectations, I packed my rain gear and boarded the high-speed ferry. Upon arriving at the port, while walking to my accommodation, I received a reassuring call from the person in charge confirming the meeting time, location, and items to bring.

The next morning, a bus arrived at 4 AM to pick us up, but it was fully booked due to Golden Week. As soon as I sat down, the guide greeted us. He was very experienced and seemed to know everything about Yakushima, answering any questions we had with confidence.

We walked 8 kilometers along the tracks of the trolley train from the trailhead, and the guide's stories about Yakushima's nature, history, and the characteristics of the Yakusugi trees were continuous and informative. The walking pace was adjusted for beginners, which minimized fatigue. Thanks to that, I was able to finally meet the Jomon Sugi. We hardly encountered any rain, and occasionally we could see blue skies. Thank you for a truly wonderful memory.

　歩くペースも初心者に合わせてくださったので疲れも最小限に済みました。おかげで念願の縄文杉に出会うことができました。雨にもほとんど降られることがなく、時々青空も見られました。本当にいい思い出をありがとうございました。

There were experienced hikers participating in the tour as well. It was spring break, the weather was great, and it was quite crowded, but the guide skillfully timed the photo opportunities and breaks. Even someone who doesn't usually exercise was able to complete the hike with some energy left.
