I booked a tour because I wanted to see the moss-covered forest. You can go without a tour, but with the tour, they provided a service to take photos at the highlights, which made for great memories. Additionally, it wasn't rushed; we were able to explore at a leisurely pace.
苔むす森が見たくて、ツアーを予約しました。
ツアー無しでも行けますが、ツアーだと見どころポイントでは写真を撮ってくれるサービスをして頂き、良い記念となりました。

I thoroughly enjoyed the Jomon Sugi trekking experience. Our guide, Seiji Osawa, was very kind and had extensive knowledge about Yakushima, allowing us to enjoy conversations while trekking, and we managed to complete the challenging route. The named cedars, including Jomon Sugi, as well as the unnamed plants, the scenic mountains and rivers, and each deer and monkey became unforgettable memories.
In addition to providing detailed explanations, our guide also offered us miso soup, a tea break by the river, and lent us a mat (a simple cushion) during our rest stops. Furthermore, he proactively took photos for us, and I believe we received the best service. I later found out that our guide is also a freelance photographer who has published a photo book, which I think was very lucky for us.
As mentioned, a day trip is certainly not easy (especially during the summer like this time), and as the guide said, "the guide gets tired too." However, older adults and children under elementary school age were able to meet Jomon Sugi, and I believe that if you approach it with the right mindset, you can create wonderful memories.
縄文杉トレッキングを十二分に堪能できました。
とても親切で屋久島について豊富な知識を持ったガイドさん（大沢成二さん）で、会話を楽しみながらトレッキングでき、決して楽ではない行程もクリアできました。
縄文杉ほか名前の付いた杉は勿論、名もない草木や山河の景色、鹿や猿の１つ１つが忘れられない思い出になりました。
ガイドさんには丁寧な説明のほか、お味噌汁のサービス、川に下りてのティーブレイク、休憩時の下敷き（簡易クッション）を貸していただきました。さらに率先して写真を撮ってもらえ、最高のサービスを受けたと思います。後から調べて分かりましたが、ガイドさんは写真集を出されたこともあるフリーカメラマンでもあり、とてもラッキーだったと思います。
上述したように、日帰りツアーは（特に今回のような夏場は）決して楽ではありませんが（ガイドさん曰く「ガイドも疲れる」）、年配の方や小学生以下の子どもさんも縄文杉との対面を実現しており、それなりの覚悟をもって臨めばとてもよい思い出を作れると思います。

The round trip of 22 km in the hot summer is a long journey that can be tiring even for guides, but you persevered and were able to meet Jomon Sugi safely. As guides, we can only support our customers, so it is because of your efforts that you were able to take home wonderful memories. On August 7th, I participated in the Jomon Sugi tour (private) with a friend from university. It was a tour with three men, and our guide was in his mid-30s, 15 years younger than us, but he had extensive work and stay experience both overseas and domestically. We had a great time sharing stories, and even though he had only been in Yakushima for six months, he was very knowledgeable about the area! His knowledge of plants was impressive as well. We engaged in a wide range of topics, from sociology, human behavior, philosophy, economics, and geography to local shop information, chatting all the way there and back. The flat trolley path on the way back was never boring, and it truly became a fun tour. We were both very satisfied! While the beauty of nature, like Jomon Sugi and the Wilson stump, can be enjoyed without a tour, the interesting conversations and the thoughtful gestures of taking photos at key points make the tour highly recommended! Thank you so much for the wonderful memories!
8/7(火)の縄文杉ツアー（個別）に大学時代の友人と2人で参加しました。男性3人のツアーで、ガイドさんは30代半ば、我々と15才も年下でしたが、海外、国内とあちこちでの仕事や滞在経験が豊富で、その体験談でも盛り上がり、屋久島に来て半年も経っていないのに屋久島の知識も豊富！植物の知識も半端なかったです。社会学、人間行動学、哲学、経済学、地理学とアカデミックな話題や地元のお店情報まで幅広い話題で行きも帰りも談笑しっぱなしで、帰りの平坦なトロッコ道も全く飽きず、本当に楽しいツアーになりました。2人とも大満足でした！縄文杉、ウィルソン株等々の自然の良さはツアーでなくとも堪能できますが、話の面白さ、ポイントで写真を撮って頂くお心遣いとか、絶対ツアーがお薦めです！楽しい思い出を本当にありがとうございました！

We were picked up around 4:00 PM and started trekking around 5:30 PM. We took photos at scenic spots like Taiko Rock and Shiratani Unsuikyo, and the trek lasted about 11 hours. Although the pace was fast since we covered a lot in one day, we enjoyed it thoroughly.

I had heard that the course was tough, but the guide was interesting and we had a great time hiking. It's more worthwhile and enjoyable to visit Shiratani as well as Jomon Sugi.

I boldly signed up for a greedy course tour to visit Shiratani Unsuikyo and Jomon Sugi in Yakushima for the first time in one day. I’m not particularly fit, and my climbing experience is limited to just two low mountains... While I had expectations, my anxiety was greater. However, I was fortunate with the weather, and I was able to enjoy walking for about 11 hours while learning various things from our guide!! I was moved by everything!! I truly feel that choosing this course was the right decision (^^) It's a lifelong memory ♡

It was very tough, but the guide shared various stories while we were climbing, which made it really enjoyable! A friend who got tired along the way had the guide stay with them and help them descend, and it seems they shared a lot of little stories during that time, making it a very fun experience.
However, some guides didn't talk much, which was a bit disappointing.
That said, the Wilson stock was really cute, and I truly felt it was worth climbing.

During my 2-night, 3-day trip, I wanted to visit Shiratani Unsuikyo, so I used a tour. The nature of Yakushima is amazing. The scale is so vast that it made me realize how small I am, haha.
The guide who accompanied us provided detailed explanations about the trees, plants, and often overlooked points. Also, when you think of Shiratani Unsuikyo, you think of Studio Ghibli's "Princess Mononoke," right? In fact, that's one of the reasons I was drawn to visit, and the guide thoroughly explained that as well. I was very satisfied!
When descending, we retraced our steps, but the scenery changes quite a bit, so it never gets boring. Additionally, it can be affected by the weather, but for example, the view after a rain shower when the sun shines through is simply too beautiful...
And during our descent, I was lucky enough to encounter a Yakushima deer! I really hope you get to experience this emotion!
2泊3日の旅行で、白谷雲水峡に行ってみたいなと思いツアーを利用しました。屋久島の自然って凄いですね。スケールがとても大きくて、自分がどれだけちっぽけな存在なのかを思い知らされました笑
今回案内していただいたガイドさんも、木や植物、見落としがちなポイント等について丁寧に解説してくれました。また、白谷雲水峡と言えばスタジオジブリの「もののけ姫」ですよね！実は私もそれが気になって足を運んだというのもありますが、それについてもガイドさんが1つ1つしっかりと解説してくれました。とても満足です！
下山する時は来た道を戻るわけですが、景色が随分と変わるので飽きません。また、天候にも左右されますが、例えば雨が一降りした後に日が差し込んだ時の景色と言ったら何とも美し過ぎて・・・
そして下山中に、運良くヤクシカにも出会うことができました！

The guide's talk wasn't very interesting, and since we were moving in a group, I felt like I had to take many breaks and wanted to proceed at my own pace. I was also disappointed because the price was high. It was a course that could have easily been done without a guide, which made me feel even more that way.
ガイドさんの話があまり面白くなかったのと複数で動くのでしょうがないですが休みが多くて自分のペースで進みたいと思ってしまいました。値段も高いのでがっかりです。ガイド無しでも全然行けるコースだったので尚更そう思いました。
Thank you for sharing your experience. Ultimately, the decision to have a guide or not is up to the customer. If you prefer to walk at your own pace, I recommend climbing all the mountains without a guide next time. On Yakushima, half of the climbers go with a guide while the other half do not.

This time it was a challenge for the whole family! As the rain continued and a typhoon approached, our veteran guide said, "The rain-soaked Jomon Sugi and the snow-covered Jomon Sugi are equally mystical, so you are very lucky." With that remark, our trekking began. We walked endlessly along the trolley path, and once we finally finished it, the real mountain trail started!
I wondered if my youngest daughter, who is in elementary school, would be okay as we started walking, and after a tough three hours, we finally arrived at Jomon Sugi! Considering the well-maintained path we took, I couldn't help but think about how the first person to discover Jomon Sugi made it here. The mountain trail was truly thought-provoking. I was simply amazed by the scale of it all. The guide said, "Next time, please come on a snowy day! It's better than a sunny day!" With that, our descent began. The return trip was harder than the way up! Everyone's knees were shaking. (laughs) Next time, I definitely want to go on a snowy day.
今回家族全員でのチャレンジでした！雨が降り続き、台風が近づく中でベテランのガイドさんが一言…「雨の縄文杉と雪の縄文杉が甲乙付けがたいくらい神秘的なんで非常にラッキーですよ」と。その一言からトレッキングがスタートしました。トロッコ道を延々と歩き、やっとトロッコ道が終わったらそこからが本当の山道でした！
小学生の三女でも大丈夫かなと思いながら歩き始めて、やっとの思い3時間強で遂に縄文杉に到着！整備された道を上ってきたことを考えると初めて縄文杉を見つけた人は此処までどうやってきたのかな？と考えさせられるほどの山道でした。とにかくスケールの大きさにただただ感動でした。ガイドさんは「次は雪の日に来て下さい！晴れてる日よりも雪の日です！」この一言をスタートに下山が始まりました。行きよりも帰りの方がハード！全員膝がガクガクでした。(笑)今度は、是非雪の日に行きたいと思います。

My 61-year-old self and my daughter, both lacking in exercise, participated in our long-awaited Jomon Sugi trekking. We were worried about our stamina and pacing over the long route, so we didn't hesitate to request a private guide. Our guide, Mr. Yabuta, provided meticulous support from early morning until evening, allowing us to enjoy the trekking without any anxiety. You carried a much larger backpack than us, and I’m sure it contained warm miso soup, a pot for coffee, and various equipment to prepare for any unexpected situations we might encounter! Thanks to you, we were able to descend safely without any issues, and that sense of security was invaluable! Thank you!!

This time, I participated in a half-day trekking tour of Shiratani Unsuikyo, which was highly recommended. I almost had to cancel the tour due to a misunderstanding about the ferry schedule, but since we were the only participants, they adjusted the schedule and we were able to leave early.
The guide seemed to be conversing with the trees, leaves, moss, rocks, and water as we walked, which allowed us to naturally blend in and made the challenging journey feel pleasant. I learned a lot about geography and history, and the guide was very considerate, giving us space to enjoy nature while also taking great photos at the scenic spots. 今回は半日白谷雲水峡〜太鼓判のトレッキングツアーに参加しました。
フェリーの時間を勘違いしておりツアーを泣く泣くキャンセルするところでしたが、たまたま参加者が私たちだけだったため早く出発するなど調整していただけました。
ガイドさんは樹、葉、苔、岩、水と会話しながら歩いているようでこちらも自然と溶け込めて険しい道のりも心地よく感じました。
地理や歴史などたくさん勉強できましたし、私たちが自然に癒されている時間はそっとしてくださったり、写真スポットではバッチリ映えるような写真を撮ってくださるなどすごく出来たガイドさんでした。自然と共に生きていくという深いことを自然と考えさせられたいい時間でした。大満足です！またこちらのツアー参加したいです。ありがとうございました。

It was decided based on my husband's wishes. I wasn't very enthusiastic about the Jomon Sugi overnight tour at first, but I was moved by Jennifer's easy-to-understand and enjoyable guidance, as well as her attentive hospitality. Despite concerns about the typhoon, it turned out to be an incredibly fun experience. I never expected to be served coffee, cocoa, and even miso soup in the mountains! After descending, they even took us to a hot spring and helped transfer data from the borrowed digital camera. It was truly the best. Although it's far from home and not an easy place to visit, I would like to request Jennifer again next time.

Our guide, Mr. Osawa, was very knowledgeable and explained a lot about the history of the cedar industry in Yakushima, as well as the plants and animals, making the monotonous trolley path enjoyable to walk. On the mountain trail afterward, he maintained a pace that was just right for us, allowing us to reach Jomon Sugi without feeling exhausted. We were moved when we encountered Jomon Sugi. For lunch, he chose a quiet spot and even provided miso soup, allowing us to enjoy our meal at a leisurely pace. On the way back, my husband started to feel pain in his feet, but the guide frequently checked on him as he walked behind us. This time, we had a very fulfilling trekking experience by using the guided tour. Thank you very much.

The feeling of excitement and accomplishment when all four of us finally reached Jomon Sugi was something I had never experienced before.

In the pouring rain, she set up a tarp for our lunch while getting completely soaked herself, and even treated us to miso soup… it warmed our chilled bodies.

It seems that the availability of rental items depends on the area where you stay, and since I didn't know which area of Yakushima my hotel was in, I submitted the hotel name for the request. I thought I would receive a response via email about whether I could rent the items, but I never heard back. I also wanted a different route than the one listed, but there was no response to that either. A few days ago, I decided to call, and they told me that I couldn't rent from my accommodation. When I asked what I should do, they said, "Find it yourself." I had made the reservation a month in advance... When I asked why there was no reply, they said, "It's written on the website, so there's no need to contact you." I thought they could at least introduce me to somewhere else. When I inquired about the reverse route, I was told, "We still don't know. It might not be implemented." I was planning to switch to another tour if the reverse route was not available, but the response a few days ago that they didn't know was very troubling.
In the end, they said, "We will implement the reverse route," but there was another issue on the day of the tour. Due to the location of the hotel I was staying at, I was placed in the regular route team instead of the reverse route team. Moreover, this guide had absolutely no hospitality. There was no time to take photos, and even when I stumbled and was crouching down, they didn't come back to help. They were just a mere guide who only cared about time and went ahead without waiting for anyone. They did provide explanations as a guide, but their voice was too quiet, and they spoke without waiting for the last person, making it almost impossible to hear.
Additionally, due to the rain, we ended up not going to Shiratani Unsuikyo and instead had the regular Jomon Sugi tour, but the price remained the same. It was truly the worst tour. I strongly recommend avoiding this company.
レンタル品が泊まる地域によって借りれたり、借りれなかったりするようで、今回泊まるホテルが、屋久島のどの地域かわからないので、ホテル名を入れて申請。メールでレンタル品が借りれるかどうか返事がくるかと思えば一切来ない。また、記載のルートととは別ルートを希望していたが、その返事も来ない。仕方がないので数日前にこちらから電話をしてみたところ、今回の宿泊先では貸してもらえないとの返事。ではどうしたら？と聞けば「自分で探してくれ」とのこと。1ヶ月も前に予約しているのに・・。なぜ返信が無いのかと聞くと「HPに書いているから連絡する必要なし」という言い方だった。せめてどこか紹介してくれればいいのにと思った。また、逆ルート希望についても問い合わせしたところ、「まだわからない。実施されないかもしれない」との返事。逆ルートがダメなら他のツアーにするつもりだったが、数日前にどちらかわからないとの返事には非常に困った。
最終的には「逆ルート実施します」となったが、当日またひと悶着。泊っているホテルの場所の加減で、逆ルートチームではなく、通常ルートチームに組み込まれた。しかもこのガイドにホスピタリティー全くなし。写真を撮る時間は無いは、コケてうずくまっていても助けに戻ってくることもない。時間だけを気にして自分だけが先に行ってしまう単なる道案内人。一応ガイドとして説明するが、歯が抜けていることと声が小さいことと、一番最後の人を待たないで話しするので殆ど聞き取れない。
しかも雨で結局、白谷雲水峡には行かず、通常の縄文杉ツアーとなり、価格はそのまま。
本当に最悪なツアーでした。
この会社は絶対やめた方が良い。

The beauty of nature was, of course, amazing, and our guide, Watanabe, was wonderful! I was really glad to meet Kodama and to have come to Yakushima! I want to go back to meet Watanabe, Kodama, and the magnificent nature again.

I participated with a female friend. On the way there, we walked slowly, stopping here and there to talk about the Yakusugi trees and moss, and we thoroughly enjoyed the Kumoi Gorge. In the moss-covered forest, they had just the right items prepared for us, which really boosted our spirits. And above all, the view from Taiko Rock was absolutely stunning! I had participated in the Yakusugi trekking two days prior, and it was amazing to look down at the course we took and feel a sense of accomplishment. For those who are going, I definitely recommend doing the Yakusugi trekking followed by the Kumoi Gorge trekking! On the way back, we even encountered Yakuzaru monkeys. Since we took our time on the way there, we were able to pick up the pace on the return trip, which was great. Thank you very much!
友人同士、女性2人で参加しました。行きはゆっくり歩き、ところどころ立ち止まって、屋久杉や苔などの動植物についてお話してくださり、雲水峡を堪能できました。苔むす森ではどんぴしゃなアイテムも用意してくださっており、テンションUP、そして何より、太鼓岩からの絶景✨最高でした！前々日に屋久杉トレッキングに参加したのですが、上からその時のコースを眺めることができ、自分達の頑張りを実感、、、！これから行かれる方には、ぜひ屋久杉トレッキング→雲水峡トレッキングの順番をおススメしようと思います笑
帰り道には屋久猿にも出会うことができました行きにゆっくりした分、帰りは早めのペースでしたが、ぐんぐん下ることができ良かったです。ありがとうございました！

It was a great help to be able to borrow shoes and a backpack upon arriving in Yakushima, rather than on the day of the climb! There was a wide variety of shoes, and I was able to comfortably hike in the right size. The cheerful guide provided thorough explanations and took many photos for us. I wanted to try trekking for the first time in Yakushima, so I signed up for the early morning trek at Shiratani Unsuikyo. Although it was early, with a pickup from the hotel just after 5 AM, there were few people around, and the air was clear, allowing me to fully enjoy nature. Additionally, our guide walked slowly while explaining various things, including plants and trees that are believed to have inspired Studio Ghibli films, which made the trekking experience enjoyable. We finished before noon, so I was able to make good use of the afternoon as well, and I am very satisfied.
初めての屋久島でトレッキングをしてみたいと思い、早朝の白谷雲水峡トレッキングを申し込みました。5時過ぎにホテルにお迎えと朝早いのですが、人が少なく、空気も澄んでいたので自然を大いに満喫できました。また、ガイドさんが植物のことから、ジブリ映画の由来となったと思われる木など、色々なことを説明しながら、ゆっくりと歩いてくれたため、楽しみながらトレッキングできました。12時前には終了したので、午後からの時間も有効に使うことができ、とても満足しています。
