It was the day after the Jomon Sugi tour, so I was quite worried about the strain on my legs, but the guide was quickly going down, and I felt like I was desperately trying to keep up. Also, since we finished an hour late, I was anxious about not making it to my next appointment. However, I was satisfied because we had plenty of time to stay at Taiko Rock.

With transportation included to our accommodation, it was an easy move. Our humble guide took many photos at various points and adjusted the pace and timing to match our stamina. Additionally, the kind guide treated us to jelly, miso soup for lunch, tankan pound cake, and tea. Even though it was mid-August, we were able to make a round trip to Taiko Rock without suffering from heatstroke or giving up. The explanations about the climate, plant life, and geological layers were enjoyable. When I mentioned that I would participate in the Jomon Sugi tour the next day, the guide provided precise advice about the equipment. I'm grateful to the guide. I wonder if the songs playing in the car were the guide's own performances? Just a thought.

素朴なガイドさんがポイントポイントで写真をたくさん撮ってくれ、私達の体力に合わせたペースと時間の配分をしてくれました。
さらに、親切なガイドさんで、ゼリー、お昼のお味噌汁、たんかんパウンドケーキと紅茶をふるまってくれ、8月中旬でしたが、熱中症にならずに、くじけずに太鼓岩まで往復できました。
気候、植物の植生、地層なども解説してくれて、楽しかったです。
また、翌日縄文杉ツアーに参加すると話したら、装備品について的確なアドバイスをしてくれました。ガイドさんに感謝です。
車中、流れていた歌は、ガイドさんの弾き語りだったのでは？ なんてね。

I participated despite feeling unwell, but the guide was so interesting that everyone was sore from trekking to Jomon Sugi, yet we forgot our fatigue and had a great time. The guide even showed us how to take photos and provided items, making it a fun tour for the ladies! You definitely should go to Taiko Rock in the morning! The guide, Tsumagari, was really great!

体調不良での参加でしたが、ガイドさんがおもしろくて、みんな縄文杉の筋肉痛でしんどかったけど、疲れを忘れとても楽しいトレッキングでした。写真の撮り方とか、アイテムまで出してくれて、女子には嬉しい楽しいツアーでした！太鼓岩は絶対朝から行くべきです！！ガイドのつまがりさんめっちゃ良かったです！！

I believe many people trek without a guide, but the explanations from the guide at various landmarks are truly wonderful. Even when walking the same path, it feels like each step has its own meaning, which doubles the enjoyment. The scenery is reminiscent of "Princess Mononoke," and for a moment, it made me forget the passage of time.

I participated alone, but I climbed with three other participants and the guide. There were many sights along the way, so I never got bored while climbing. During the hike, I saw deer, and I was lucky to spot a Japanese macaque on the way to Shiratani Unsuikyo. The view from Taiko Rock was amazing! Although it's often cloudy, the last part is a bit steep, so I definitely recommend climbing all the way to Taiko Rock! I was picked up at 8:00 and dropped off at the hotel at 15:30, and I had a relaxing and enjoyable time. I want to go again!

We departed from the hotel at 5 AM, had our lunch at the Shiratani Unsuikyo parking lot, and then went trekking. I signed up at the last minute, but there were two other participants, and we had a great time climbing together. They took care to adjust the pace according to our physical condition, and we climbed to Taiko Rock while enjoying various explanations, capturing many wonderful photos! It was reassuring to be guided by a veteran. After checking if we still had the energy, they took us to a special spot that was particularly beautiful. It seemed to be just before the busy summer season, so we really enjoyed it and had a fantastic trip.

It was cloudy, but it didn't rain, and the forest was incredibly beautiful. The timing was great, and I was able to trek comfortably. Compared to the Jomon Sugi tour, this was a shorter and more accessible tour. Most of the people walking seemed to be individuals, and since the path is straightforward, I think I’ll try walking it myself next time. The scenery is enchanting, and when you reach the top, you can enjoy the stunning view from Taiko Rock, which gives a sense of accomplishment. I was surprised to see a Yakuzaru walking, which I hadn’t seen yesterday. It was the only animal I saw on this trip, and I was really happy about it.

This is my second visit to Yakushima this year. I couldn't resist visiting Shiratani Unsuikyo and Taiko Rock again after just six months.

Hiking through the green forest with a refreshing breeze and dappled sunlight was wonderful. The view from Taiko Rock, with a rainbow arcing across the sky, was truly beautiful.

Once again, I had a reliable guide accompanying me, which allowed me to enjoy the hike with peace of mind. Thank you, guide Kyoku.

I can't help but wonder how beautiful the autumn foliage and winter snow scenery will be, and I already find myself longing for Yakushima.

I look forward to visiting again soon.

- The weather is often clear in the morning. It tends to get cloudy in the afternoon as temperatures rise.
- The tranquility before sunrise and the beauty of the forest as the sunlight begins to filter in are stunning.

On the day of my visit, it was sunny on the way there and cloudy with light rain on the way back, allowing me to enjoy various forest landscapes.

I participated with my 55-year-old mother and brother, making a team of three. Plus, there was one more woman of the same age as my mother, so we had a team of five. (At the Iwasaki Hotel where we were staying, they kindly replaced our breakfast buffet with packed lunches for trekkers.)

Our guide provided appropriate breaks, and during the climb, he caught insects and explained the plants, and before we knew it, we arrived at Taiko Rock. Along the way, we received advice on how to walk and tips like "grab here and climb!" and we finished the tour without any injuries.

Fortunately, it didn't rain while we were climbing, and although there were some clouds at Taiko Rock, the weather was clear. It started to rain a bit when we were descending. I felt lucky to enjoy both the sunny and rainy worlds of moss and cedar.

The woman who came alone mentioned that she had gone on a Jomon Sugi tour the day before, but she found this Taiko Rock tour to be much more enjoyable, saying that if you’re going to participate, this one is definitely the way to go!

Our guide, Mr. Yamaguchi, was incredibly experienced and made the experience fantastic. Thank you very much. We gathered at the supermarket at the foot of the mountain at 6 AM and disbanded around noon.

55歳の母親と兄と自分の3人で参加しました。プラスお一人でいらしてた母と同年代の女性の方で5人チームでした。(宿泊していたいわさきホテルにて、朝食バイキングをトレッキング者向けに朝と昼のお弁当に代えていただきました。)
ガイドの方に適度な休憩を挟んでいただき、登山中も虫を捕まえたり植物のご説明をしてくださってあっという間に太鼓岩まで到着しました。
途中、歩き方やココを掴んで登って！などといったアドバイスもいただき怪我も無くツアーを終えました。
運良く登りは雨が降らず、太鼓岩では多少の雲はあるものの晴天、下山のときに一時雨が降ってきました。晴れと雨の二つの苔と杉の世界を楽しめてラッキーでした。
お一人様でいらしてた女性は前の日に縄文杉ツアーに行かれてたそうですが、この太鼓岩ツアーのほうが何倍も楽しく、参加するなら断然こっち！とのことでした。
経験豊富なガイドの山口さんが大当たりでした。ありがとうございました。
6時に麓のスーパーに集合、12時頃に解散となりました。

If there was no fog, the view from Taiko Rock might have been wonderful, which is a bit disappointing, but the mossy forest in the light rain healed all that regret.

Since it was my first time trekking and I had some anxiety, I chose the Taiko Rock course instead of Jomon Sugi. I had work until the day before and had to go back to work right after, so it was the right decision to take a leisurely morning tour. I was very satisfied to finally visit the Forest of Mononoke! Additionally, I was able to hear the tour guide talk about moss and cedar along the way, which deepened my understanding of Yakushima. The guide also prepared miso soup and a Kodama doll for photos, and I was touched by that service! It became the best memory. Thank you very much.

トレッキング自体が初めてで不安があったため、縄文杉ではなく太鼓岩のコースにしました。前日まで仕事、帰る日もすぐ仕事と弾丸ツアーであったためゆとりのある朝ゆっくりのツアーにして正解でした。念願のもののけの森に大満足！さらに道中ツアーガイドさんのコケやスギのお話を聞くことができ、より屋久島の理解が深まりました。ガイドさんがお味噌汁や写真用にコダマのお人形を準備してくださっており、そのサービスに感動しました！最高の思い出になりました。ありがとうございます。

I originally planned to go only to the Mossy Forest, but thanks to the guide's kindness, I was taken all the way to Taiko Rock. That was truly the right decision, as I was able to enjoy a great view at Taiko Rock!

During the tour, I also took many photos and videos, and even saw Kodama, which made it a lot of fun. Thank you very much!

Although the weather was not sunny on the day of your visit and the view from Taiko Rock was not great, I believe the misty scenery was a nice alternative.

The weather was nice, and trekking while listening to the sound of the river was truly healing. I thought it would be easy since it was a short trek, but there were times when I felt it was harder than trekking to Jomon Sugi because we kept moving without taking breaks. The world of living moss was even more impressive than in the photos!

天候も良く川のせせらぎを聞きながらのトレッキングは、心から癒されました。
短時間のトレッキングなので、簡単！と思っていましたが、休憩することなく進むので、縄文杉のトレッキングよりハードと感じる時もありました。
生の苔の世界は、写真以上でした～。

I unexpectedly got sore muscles from the 150-minute Yakusugi Land course the day before, and I was worried about the course to Taiko Rock, but thanks to the guide's enjoyable conversation and kind, attentive guidance, I was able to hike comfortably.

We left the hotel at 9 AM, which allowed us to take our time, and that was one of the reasons I chose this tour.

On the day of the hike, we were blessed with good weather, and we didn't encounter any rain, making it easy to walk. However, it would have been even better if it had been sunny at Taiko Rock.

The Forest of Mononoke was mystical and healing. I want to watch the movie "Princess Mononoke" when I get back. Actually, I haven't seen it yet! (laughs)

前日のヤクスギランド150分コースで不覚にも筋肉痛になってしまい、心配された太鼓岩までのコースでしたが、ガイドさんの楽しい会話と親切、丁寧な案内で快適に山歩きできました。
9時にホテル出発だったので、ゆっくりできたのもこのツアーを選んだ理由です。
当日はお天気にも恵まれ、雨に合う事もなかったので歩きやすかったです。
ただ太鼓岩で晴れていたらもっと最高だったのになあ～
もののけの森は神秘的で癒されました
帰ってから映画もののけ姫を見たいと思います
実はまだ見てないんですよね～（笑)
