  • 11:00 KTX Seoul Station to KTX Dongdaegu Station

    Balwoogongyang (monastic meal) Observe how monks eat their meals in reverence; by sitting in an upright posture while making sure that no single grain is wasted.
  • 18:35 Evening Ceremony
    Join the evening ceremony and gain deeper understanding of the sacred Buddhist tradition at the bell pavilion; an architectural beauty that is commonly found in Korean Buddhist temples.
  • 21:00 Lights Out
    Have a deep and serene rest after a day of getting to know temple life. Head to a private room provided for you and appreciate a peaceful and quiet night inside the temple.

  • 02:50 Time to Wake Up
    Start the day earlier than usual, a customary Buddhist practice.
  • 03:15 Early Morning Ceremony
    Monks Join the monks as they make their way to the early morning ceremony, the first Buddhist service of the day. Listen to their chants and observe how they pay respect to Sakyamuni Buddha.
  • 04:10 108 Prostrations and Cham-Seon Meditation
    Hapjang Take part of the 108 Prostrations, a Buddhist practice which aims to connect the mind and body by bowing one hundred and eight times. After clearing your mind from unnecessary thoughts, this will be followed by a form of meditation that will sharpen your alertness and concentration.
  • 06:00 Vegetarian Breakfast
    Balwoogongyang (monastic meal) Enjoy a hearty meal that will set you up for the day.
    Eat with monks in silence before going on another insightful temple tour.
  • 07:30 Tripitaka Koreana and Temple Tour
    The Tripitaka Koreana Visit Janggyeong Panjeon, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site built solely to preserve the Tripitaka Koreana. This is a massive collection of well-preserved Buddhist scriptures carved in over 80,000 wooden blocks.
  • 09:00 Da-Seon (Tea Ceremony) with a Monk
    Da-Seon (Tea Ceremony) Meditate while drinking tea as your five senses work in harmony with each and every sip.
  • 10:00 Leisure Time

    Balwoogongyang (monastic meal) End your monastic life experience with a delightful and healthy lunch prepared by the monks themselves.
  • 12:00 Depart from Haeinsa Temple to KTX Dongdaegu Station
  • 13:25 Arrive at KTX Dongdaegu Station to KTX Seoul Station
  • 15:10 Check-out at KTX Seoul Station
    • Smoking and alcohol consumption is not allowed in the temple.
    • The meals provided on this tour are vegetarian only.
    • If less than 3 participants are booked, the activity may not operate.
    • Children 7 years old and above can participate in this activity.

    • Only luggage that you can personally carry is allowed

    • Because the monastery is a religious sanctuary, participants are advised to refrain from showing public displays of affection, singing, dancing and playing loud music.

    • Private rooms will be provided but men and women will stay separately. Rooms will be assigned on the day of arrival upon registration.
    • The activity schedule is subject to change or cancellation due to weather, traffic conditions or temple situations.
