Complete your experience of the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) with a stop at the Joint Security Area (JSA). The DMZ and JSA combination tour covers the highlights of the Korean Demilitarized Zone and the Joint Security Area (Panmunjom) in one full day itinerary. Locations to be visited typically include the Imjingak Resort, the 3rd Tunnel and the Dora Observatory before going to the JSA. The areas of DMZ and JSA can only be visited with an organized tour and must be booked in advance.
Please Note
In light of the ongoing talks between North Korea and South Korea, the JSA is often closed by the United Nations Command (UNC) due to military activities. Currently, the best way to visit JSA is with a DMZ/JSA combination tour but closures are still possible. You can experience DMZ without JSA with these DMZ and 3rd Tunnel tours that have higher availability.

Highlights
The Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) tours usually take you to the 3rd Tunnel (Third Tunnel of Aggression), an underground passageway underneath the Korean border, and the Dora Observatory, where you can look out to North Korea.

Joint Security Area (JSA) tours will take you to the only portion of the DMZ where North and South Korean forces stand face-to-face, and the only spot where you can get to stand in North Korea.

History
After the Korean War, South Korea and North Korea established a border that divided the Korean peninsula roughly in half. Stretching for 2 km on either side of this contended border is the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). One of the last relics of the Cold War, the DMZ attracts a great deal of public interest, and is a must-see for travelers visiting Korea. From the Dora Observatory, you can even have the chance to look across the border, into one of the most mysterious countries on earth. Feel the palpable tension between these two nations and their ongoing dialogue towards peace, and witness modern history in the making.
