Namdaemun is the largest and oldest traditional market in Seoul. The earliest version of the market dates back to 1414, during the Joseon area. To this day, the market is inaccessible by car and shipments are often made by motorcycle and carts. Present-day Namdaemun has also grown to 10,000 shops, and a good chunk of the goods sold in the market—which range from clothes and accessories to outdoor and kitchen goods—are made by hand. Many of the shops are also open during late night hours.
