Lying on the edge of Kuala Lumpur is a limestone hill with a network of caves that date back to 400 million years ago. Called Batu Caves, the site is also place of worship, housing a temple complex with an enormous statue of a Hindu god guarding its entrance. Batu Caves also plays a central role during the celebration of the festival Thaipusam.
