One of the ancient capitals of Thailand, Wiang Kum Kam was built in the late 13th century until the establishment of Chiang Mai. The city was lost and then abandoned following severe floods. Its discovery won't be well until the 20th century when relics were discovered in the area. Today, the excavated ruins of Wiang Kum Kam can be visited with over 30 temples to explore.
