We did skip the line, which was great, however the guide didn't have much kowledge about the paintings. Maybe I feel this way because the guide in the skip the line tour to the Musee D'Orsay was excellent, she sounded more like a professor than a guide and I visited Orsay first.

We spent at least 40 minutes crammed into a corner of the City Pyramids building to pick up tickets, wait for the guide and get our audio equipment. It was very hot and uncomfortable. It actually took from being at the meeting point at 9.15 until 10.30 before we even entered the Louvre. Our guide was good but after all the waiting around, we were then really rushed when we got to areas of interest. Fortunately, the tour gave me a good insight into the layout of the Louvre and I was able to use my ticket to spend more time there, visiting the things I wanted to see at leisure. I probably could have done this with a map and queued at the Louvre rather than city pyramids building. The guide did provide some useful insights but in a very strong french accent.
