Good tour into Baverian countryside

Reviewed by: Annie, 2017/09/09

Good day out from Munich with good guide and friendly driver. We enjoyed the visit to Linderhof and also the brief visit to Oberammergau as we managed to see the theatre where the passion plays are produced. However, we were very disappointed in the visit to Neuschwanstein. We had a few hours stay which was taken with a long but wonderful walk up to the castle and then were basically herded into a very short guided tour of the castle. This was not the fault of the tour company but the way the castle tours were operated - typical tourist trap! Frankly, we thought the Residenze in Munich was by far the best value for money and certainly surpassed the Neuschwanstein experience. The travel through Baveria was lovely.

Neuschwanstein and Linderhof Castles Day Bus Tour

Reviewed by: Vlad, 2017/08/28

We made a right decision to book a day trip to Neuschwanstein and Linderhof Castles through Veltra. The tour was excellent and tour guide was very knowledgeable. Our tour guide bought group entry tickets for us and we didn't have to stay in a very long line to buy them. We just showed up at the entry gate at specified time. It was enough time allocated to explore both castles.

Definitely worth a visit. But I would recommend if you could stay over in Fussen and no rush at the castle, that will be better. However, our guide, Elizabeth is very knowledgeable and made our trip more fun.

Castle Tour from Munich

Reviewed by: Madi, 2017/07/31

I enjoyed this day tour. The Castles are beautiful, but it would have been nice to have a bit more time in the town before reaching the lunch break. The tour guide was knowledgable, although presentation was a bit repetitive at times.

Firstly the practicalities. Having everything arranged for you makes a huge difference on this trip, particularly at Neuschwanstein. When we arrived at around 14:45, the queue for tickets looked about two hours long, and people were being sold tickets for 6pm! Being able to just arrive and get handed our tickets would have been reason enough to book this tour.

Both Linderhof and Neuschwanstein were absolutely breathtaking, totally unique in their design and location, a remarkable day out. For the tour itself, the coach was comfortable, the itinerary didn't feel rushed, and Elizabeth our guide was charming, friendly, and very informative, the perfect host! Thomas the driver also gave a comfortable safe drive.

The castles are a must see in the Munich area, and City Discovery tour of them made the whole thing so easy and relaxed, highly recommended!

Lovely coach with refreshments on board and a toilet. Barbara our guide was friendly and knowledgeable about the places we visited. The visit to Oberammergau was a bonus. We would have liked more time but selfish people were constantly late back to the coach, which eats into you time at the attractions. Still a wonderful day out. Totally recommended.

It was a great tour. I did the Spanish one and the guide was amazing - she was super nice, knowledgeable and accessible. She told the stories of both Linderhof and Neuschwanstein in such an interesting way, it makes you yearn for more history! Overall an excellent experience, would recommend.

Had a fun time. The instructor was great as she mixed humour with interesting facts. She was also friendly and very approachable. The castle was beautiful and the history amazing. The instructor also recommended great places for shopping and a tasty place for lunch.

Improvements could be made in the pickup address which was provided during the ordering process. It was not very clear and took my wife and I sometime to find the pickup location.

I would certainly recommend this tour to my family and friends.

We really enjoyed the whole trip! Both of the castles were beautiful places to visit. The bus trip was very well organised and our tour guide gave us lots of interesting information about the history of the castles and the area as we were travelling to the different stops. There was plenty of opportunities to stop for food and drinks and they had even made a lunch reservation for us at the last stop so we did not have to wait. The only negative was the stop in the small town, personally I didn't think there was very much to see and it would have been nicer to have longer to spend at the final castle as there was a lot to see. Overall great day though and a very good price.

This is a must see tour. I thought was going to be too long but actually didn't feel like I had enough time. I will definitely be going back to the castle again just to explore all the little shops around the bottom of the castle. I also would like to hike up to king Ludwig"s parents castle that is located across the mountain . The scenery there is picture perfect. I highly recommend it. Warning there is a lot of walking uphill and stairs so be prepared!

Very relaxing tour with excellent tour guide. Too bad that it was a bit foggy that afternoon which hinder us from taking nice picture of the castle.

Would highly recommend. When I booked it I was thinking 10 hours is too long . It actually wasn't enough time . I wish I had longer to shop in the little shops at all the shops. Our tour guide was magnificent. She was so knowledgeable on everything . I loved the stories . She even helped us after we got off to find a vegetarian restaurant we heard about in the area . I totally recommend this tour. Warning there is a lot of walking so be prepared .Neuschwanstein is on a hill do you will be walking uphill either all or catch a bus or carriage and walk bout 10 min . Also many stairs in castle . It's all interesting beautiful and a workout rolled into one. A must see in Munich

It has been great experience travelling with Gray Line and I was satisfied from the booking reservation until the day of the tour.
If I may have a negative comment, it would be for the extra fees charged on top of the normal prices.
6,50 for linderhof and 11 for the castle do not equal to 23 €
I understand that we have to be charged for previous booking maybe but not that much difference
And some of us got the feeling agency was charging the difference! It has not been well explained!

We have been many times in Munich but we were first time in this kind of Day Trip. The schedule of the Day Trip went very well. But perhaps the timetable was little bit tight because we have to have meals quicly before the Castle Neuschwanstein. There were so many people there at the same time. The Day Trip tour is good, easy, nice and safe way to see Bavarian in different ways. We also got to know new people from other country during the trip. It was easy to follow the Guide`s English language because of clear articulate. It was also nice to hear about history and present of Munich and Bavarian. Many thanks for the Guide and the Driver of the bus. They took care of us very well. We recommend.

Our tour guide, Joseph, was both informative and entertaining. Loved the personal insights as a native Bavarian and really set a great tone and flavor to the history. Really enjoyed visiting Oberammergau. Disappointed that we were only able to visit 2 castles, but the time constraints are understood. Unfortunately, a lot of the sightseeing during the drive can not be as appreciated from the "wrong" side of the bus.

Most of my photos are too large to upload, so I am only able to share a couple.

Online it said we would return to Munich at 8:30pm. We returned around 6:30pm. I would have preferred to have those two hours in one of the amazing places we visited. I felt rushed.
