Everything went very well! Our guide, Frank, was very knowledgable. The ruins were in very good shape, considering their age. Highly recommend going!!!!

Early access is the way to go!

Everything was perfect. Our driver picked us up a few minutes after the 4:25 am pick up time we'd been assigned, we were driven to the bus meet-up point, then driven on the bus to Chichen, where we turned in our voucher with no problems. The guide, Freddy, was excellent and knowledgeable, and didn't pretend to know things that he didn't. Other guides on other tours were putting forth theory as fact. Freddy explained well what was truly known and what wasn't, and explained the various theories on certain things, and why we don't know for certain what the truth is. This was very refreshing. We had a wonderful time at the site, three jam-packed hours of explanation of the site, and then returned to the bus at 11 am, just in time to see all the huge buses rolling in! We have some photos with not one single soul in them, which would not happen at the usual time! The lunch was spare, so bring additional food if you need more than a small sandwich, fruit, and chips (I am gluten-free and brought my own food). The shopping stop on the return was a tourist trap but I had fun speaking with the workers who were not busy since our little group of 16 was the only bus there (later, they tell me, they'll see about 500-1000 people on those "normal" tours!) We were returned to another meeting point, where another van brought us directly back to our Puerto Morelos hotel by 3 pm.

PROs of the early tour:
1. smaller tour
2. cooler hours in Chichen
3. like-minded people from all over the globe, not a bunch of hungover tourists
4. back at the hotel in time for a swim and your dinner reservation

I'd never do Chichen on a regular tour again! Thanks for spoiling us, Amigo Tours!
