Amazing Time in Autumn Yarra Valley! Thank you our tour guide Leo!

First time to visit Melbourne and Yarra Valley, it was fantastic!

We joined this winery and gourmet tour two days after we got to Melbourne. The tour bus was nearly full with travelers from all over the world. We were the only Japanese but with the help of our driver/guide Leo, we had a fun time.

The music choice on the bus was perfect to get us all excited, so we never had boring time even on the bus. At the fruits garden, their juice and fruits like apple were so delicious that a feeling of drowsiness was quickly gone. I really liked the raspberry jam, so bought it as a souvenir.
Next was a tasting session at cheese factory. There were many cheeses I have never seen in Japan, so we bought loads, all of which we consumed back at our hotel.
At the winery, we got to try many more wines than expected. Some of the tour participants said they could not drink anymore!
The lunch was amazing! You can choose a main dish from several choices, so we ordered beef. It was just so fantastic that you can say this lunch is the highlight of this tour, oh I still dream about this lunch. I want to go back to Yarra Valley just to have their lunch. A stroll around after lunch was very nice with gorgeous views.
We were taken to a couple more wineries both of which were great, too.
At the end of the tour, we went to a chocolate factory. It was like a dessert time for us after all the great wine and fabulous lunch. With so many kinds of sample chocolates, I was feeling a bit high. Bought lots of souvenir.
I was tipsy and totally full, so on the way back to Melbourne, I fell asleep. When I finally woke up, we were already back in the city.

It was a great value tour with amazing foods/wines and beautiful nature, and I would love to join again! I think I will come back next year. Thank you very much Go West!

Day 2 in Melbourne

I again participated in Go West tour.

At the pick up spot, I had to hand in my passport to the driver as those who are under 18 years old are not allowed to drink alcohol under Australian laws.

Just like a day before with the Go West tour, their drivers are very cheerful and this tour's driver was always singing along the songs he played for us on the bus.

We had fresh fruits and apple ginger juice at Yarra Farm, followed by a tasting of 4 kinds of wines at the first winery.

After lunch, we visited the second winery of the tour, Yering Station Winery, which is a must to visit winery if you are to talk about Australian wines. There I enjoyed another tastings of wines while getting a quick lecture about wine pairings.

Next we stopped at Chocolaterie. Our driver said "watch out for Oompa Loompa!" and even played the song of Oompa Loompa. With the song in the back ground, we went into the Chocolaterie which was crowded with many kids. You can see how the chocolates are being made through the glass and you can also buy variety of chocolates and ice cream. I am not that into sweets, so I was happy with the chocolate ball at the entrance and the sample chocolate. It was perfect amount for a good closure of the day after the wines.

I had a wonderful time with Go West tours for two days. When I come back to Melbourne again, I will join more Go West tours.

Great day had by all on the bus. Driver was great and informative. Picked up on time and we were thoroughly worn out by the end of the trip....Just the right amount of wineries to see, so we weren't rushed and lunch was great too. Well done.

Yarra Valley Gourmet Tour Fri 4 Aug

A great tour taking in the wonderful Yarra Valley and some fine wineries, cheese, fruit and chocolate ( ice cream too ). A brilliant day made better by an excellent, knowledgeable and informative guide / driver ( Kiwi Paul in our case ) all with an extremely good included lunch and local hotel pick up.

Go and do it you'll love it ( suggest you leave the younger kids out of this one though as they'll get bored with all the wine and drinking - you need to be18 plus to sample the wines it's the law)
