Amsterdam red light district!

The red light district in Amsterdam is probably one of the most interesting places in the world. We definitely wanted to walk through the area but was a afraid to do it on our own so joined the tour. Our tour guide was able to provide a lot of interesting information, and during the whole tour we felt safe and was not interrupted. The tour also ends in the museum of prostitution which is a neat little museum. While it is only 6 rooms big, it packs a lot of information about the red light district area. Best of all, the admission fee to the museum is also included. You are then escorted by the guide again back to your starting point near the central station.

Interesting but could be more

I joined the Amsterdam red light district walking tour hoping to get a little more information on the deep and seedy side of Amsterdam. While the tour touched on parts of it, I wished it had given more information. The tour did end at the museum of prostitution which was actually quite interesting and provided a lot of fun information. There were even samples of the rooms on display and would talk about some of the 'activities' which was really cool. The walk started at 8pm but being that it was the summer time it wasn't that dark so perhaps that was the reason that there weren't that much girls at the windows yet. We did go back later and the streets were packed with people.

We were a couple of woman looking to find out about the 'real' Red Light district and we certainly found this tour did just that. The tour guide is extremely informative, very relaxed and easy to talk to and an all round top person. She is just lovely. So interesting, you find out things you would never have known. The prostitute centre was an eye opener for us as you could ask the lady any questions you wanted, and she answered honestly and with humour. Such good value for money. Completely recommend it.

Wish this tour would have picked us up at our hotel, the Marriott. Very expensive to get us to tour location. The guide walked too fast and it was too hard to understand her. The visit with the former prostitute was interesting but too short of time spent with her and she hurried us out. No place to sit down in her museum and our feet were tired. The tour was interesting, however.
