Reviewed by: Andre, 2019/07/29Regardless of my rating which mainly concerns the tour provider "Visit Krakow" (not Veltra), I'd recommend anyone to visit Auschwitz at least once in his/her lifetime. It's an intense experience.
Veltra Booking Process:
We booked 4 days before the visit. The first mail we received did not contain confirmation. We were informed that Veltra is checking with the provider and will confirm within 72h. We took our chances for the lack of alternatives and fortunately the tour was confirmed within 24h.
provider / Bus company: Visit Krakow
pick up location:
after providing the address of our Airbnb apartment, we were informed about the (supposedly) closest pick up point which was a 20min min walk from our apt. It turned out later that we could have gotten on the bus at a stop 1min from our apt. That makes a difference so early in the morning. Could have been planned better...
tour guide:
We booked the tour in English but our actual guide was Polish. The tour was accompanied by a lady who took care of the logistics and translated the Polish explanations in mediocre English. She was obviously not familiar with the details, lacked some of the essential vocabulary and it felt like she omitted certain parts. That was quite disappointing...
Overall organisation:
The tour follows a tight schedule that leaves almost no room for breaks let alone a lunch break. This fact was indicated in the tour description though, so we were prepared and brought some food. However we were not allowed to eat on the bus.
I appeal to the organizers to change this and allocate 15min for a quick lunch, as 8 hours without food is a stretch.

A remarkable experience
Reviewed by: Lala, 2017/09/15We had a really great guide that took us around and patiently answering all questions, it felt so unreal and sad walking in the camp visualizing the story of this place.
However there was an instance where we were told by a lady from the local operating company to meet at a specific place at a specific time, but upon reaching that place on time, the group had left without us already.
