This is the location that Kaii Higashiyama, a master of Japanese painting, used as a model when he was commissioned by the Imperial Household Agency to paint the barrier paintings. Surrounded by the beautiful blue sea and connected by a white sand beach, the approach to Ebisu Shrine changes its appearance from moment to moment with the ebb and flow of the tide. It is also called the Mont Saint-Michel of the San-in region because the path disappears at high tide, making it impossible to cross to the island.
