A Different View of Singapore

An interesting tour encompassing some of Singapore's lesser-known attractions. Lots to take in and an informative guide in Krishnan who explained much of the history and information behind the attractions. Consider this tour if you want to know some unusual and different facts of this country.

We did the city tour on our 1st day then we progressed to the Round Island Tour. The tour was very informative and we visited places eg Haw Par Villa that we would probably not have visited on our own. The tour guide commentary was very thorough and very interesting. We picked up background into the history and culture of old Singapore thru to Singapore today. Definitely worth doing this trip. Good value.

Dear Carol,
Let us know which of the stops was your favourite - was it Haw Par Villa with its gruesome figurines? or the peaceful surroundings of the Kranji Memorial Park.
This Round Island tour has been our signature tour for many years and have gone through various revamps. We are constantly looking for ways to make more interesting.
Do let us have your imput and many thanks again. Have a great day!

Guide was very knowledgeable, we learned a lot. Kranji Ceme<x>tary was sobering; Bright Hill Temple full of history; Gardens by the Bay was impressive - we went back the next day for a more in-depth look; Changi Prison was enlightening. Another great tour and a chance to see a bit more of Singapore, worth the time and money.

Tour Guide great. Adequate time at each location to view.
Pleasant lunch in lovely surroundings. Maybe a bit too long spent in the coach travelling from point to point but really that is only a minor point.

Not for young people. Spending 1 hour at WW2 monument and then other 3 with transport and visit of WW2 museum is kind of wasting of time. There is a lot of more interesting places and things to do in Singapore. Launch was dietic but ok. 4$ for small bottle of watter is robbery :) Guide was decent providing a lot of interesting infos.

We have been on several visits and tours in and around Singapore for over 30 years and this particular tour was without a doubt the best we have been on. Even though Singapore is such a tiny country, to pack such a diverse selection of places to see in a one day tour is still a feat. Our guide was excellent he gave an almost continuous commentary throughout the day and interspersed it with personal insights that really invoked a sense of what it means to be a Singaporian. To find the warside gravesite of a previously unknown distant relative at Kranji war cemetery was obviously the most moving part of the day. Thank you for such a wonderful experience.

Unfortunately the trip did not live up to expectations - mostly due to the way that Singapore has developed and is now crowding out the island.
The tour guide when on the bus was difficult to understand - he was very knowledgeable, however he constantly failed to advise us in which direction to look when he was describing landmarks or other points of interest; also he was describing what was previously in certain locations - this was hard to visualise due to the development that has gone on over the last 10+ year. He would have been better off explaining what we were currently seeing.
The Tiger Bam Gardens have really passed their use by date (they look exactly the same way that I remember them some 40+ years ago; and have really have not improved). There value as a tourist attraction now adays should be questioned.
Unfortunately there was a lot of dead time driving from one stop to the next - particularly going from the west coast to the lunch stop and then on to Changi - passing through industrial areas and housing areas. This is where the tour guide lost most people with his running commentary about things that use to be there.
The highlight of the tour was Changi war museum and chapel - the 45 mins allowed for this stop is not enough and should be increased; as all on our bus wanted more time to look at the exhibits.
Having lived in Singapore some 40+ years ago I found it interesting to look at how much the island has changed in that time. However for my wife (who has not stayed in Singapore) she found the day only mildly interesting (War cememtry and Changi).
ba<x>sed on the above we will not be recommending this tour to people we know going to Singapore.
