Schedule

  1. Meet at Sengen Park (in Front of Dai-ichi Takimotokan)
  2. First, Take a Shuttle to the Hell Valley Area
  3. Put On Your Snowshoes and Start the Hike
Snowshoes let you walk easily on deep, fluffy snow. Enjoy the sparkling winter forest of Noboribetsu!
  4. Hell Valley
Formed by a volcanic eruption, Hell Valley releases about one ton of hot spring water daily. Thick steam rises, creating an eerie, hell-like landscape.
  5. Tessen Pond
At the far end of Hell Valley lies a geyser that periodically erupts with boiling water from underground.
  6. Jigokudani Overhanging Observatory
  7. Oyunuma Pond
As Mount Hiyoriyama emits white smoke and Oyunuma steams, a roaring sound like a jet engine can be heard.
  8. Oku-no-Yu
Located about 100 meters from Oyunuma, Oku-no-Yu is part of Mount Hiyoriyama's crater. The water reaches around 80°C, sending up steam. Its hot spring water is used by local inns and hospitals in Kamiyu Noboribetsu.
  9. Oyunuma River Natural Foot Bath
The tour ends at a natural foot bath along the Oyunuma River. Warm spring water collects in dips along the stream, perfect for a relaxing soak. In the quiet forest, soothe your tired feet as mineral-rich water swirls beneath you.
  10. Return to the Starting Point with Snowshoes
On the way back, dive into fluffy snow or enjoy taking photos as you return to the starting point.
  11. Snowshoe Experience Ends
  12. Return to Sengen Park (in Front of Dai-ichi Takimotokan) and End of Tour
