I've been coming to Nara for over 30 years... I haven't had many opportunities to go south, so I was able to visit this time on a tour. I went to the Ishibutai Kofun during a school trip when I was in elementary school (I'm from Osaka). I wondered if it was this small back then.
The guide's explanations were very informative. This is the strength of a tour, isn't it? At the beginning of the year, I visited the Omiwa Shrine on my own, but after hearing the stories, I feel like I received even more blessings. The driver was also very friendly and kindly spoke to me when I got off at the station. Thank you very much. If I have the opportunity again, I would like to use your services.

First, we headed to Eiheiji while listening to the fun stories from our bus guide after leaving Fukui Station. It was an easy transfer to a microbus from the parking lot in the temple town to the entrance of Eiheiji.
Inside Eiheiji, we were free to explore at our own pace, which was great. I took my time looking for the ceiling paintings that the bus guide had pointed out.
This was my second visit to Eiheiji, but thanks to the bus guide's explanations, I was able to experience it from a different perspective than my first visit, which was wonderful.
Next, we went to Ichijodani. While it's possible to take a local bus, there aren't many services, and the area that recreates the streets of Ichijodani and the museum are quite far apart, so it was convenient to travel by tour bus.
I think this tour is enjoyable not only for first-time visitors to Fukui but also for those returning after a long time.
福井駅からバスガイドさんの楽しいお話を聞きながらまずは永平寺に。門前町の駐車場から永平寺入り口までもマイクロバスに乗り換えて楽々移動でした。
永平寺内では各自自由に行動できたのでマイペースで回ることができました。私はバスガイドさんに教えてもらった天井絵を探しながらじっくり見ました。
永平寺への参拝は2度目でしたが、バスガイドさんの説明のおかげで初めての時とは違った観点で参拝することができてよかったです。
次は一乗谷へ。路線バスで行くこともできますがあまり本数も多くなく、一乗谷の街並みを再現したエリアと博物館も離れているためツアーバスで移動できて楽でした。
はじめて福井を訪れる人だけでなく、久しぶりに訪れる人にとっても楽しめるツアーだと思います。

The dinosaur museum was very crowded during the summer vacation and the long three-day weekend, but as expected with tourist buses, we were able to enter smoothly. We also had plenty of time to explore, which was satisfying. Although it was disappointing that Hiraizumi Temple was rainy, I thought I would like to visit the moss temple again for its atmosphere. During the Obon holiday, my spouse and I participated in a half-day tour, visiting the Dinosaur Museum and Hakusan Heisenji. Normally, we would have to drive ourselves and arrange tickets, but with the tour, we were taken directly to the locations, eliminating that hassle! Especially at the Dinosaur Museum, it was quite crowded that day, but we were able to enter smoothly through a separate entrance for groups, avoiding the long lines.
Hakusan Heisenji featured a fantastical moss-covered approach lined with towering cedar trees. It was an experience that we couldn't normally have, and it naturally instilled a sense of reverence in us.

I went on my first trip to Fukui with my high school student. Since we didn't plan to rent a car and wanted to visit Hakusan Shrine, we were able to get around efficiently. There was no need to reserve tickets, and we could enter right away in the morning without waiting. I arrived at Kochi Station just before 3 PM and had booked a "Sakamoto Ryoma" tour from 3 PM for three hours. Since I arrived a little before 3 PM, I first saw the mechanical clock at Harimaya Bridge, then went to Katsurahama to see the Ryoma statue, and afterward visited the Sakamoto Ryoma Memorial Museum. I wish I could have spent a little more time there, but the museum closed exactly at 5 PM, so I had to rush a bit. After that, I visited the birthplace of Ryoma and the Ryoma Birthplace Memorial Museum while also seeing statues of Chosokabe Motochika and Yamauchi Kazutoyo, reflecting on Ryoma's childhood. This was my second time on the Nara Kotsu sightseeing bus tour. My purpose for this tour was to visit Jiko-in, Yakushiji, and Toshodai-ji. The temperature in Nara that day was 34℃! I borrowed a parasol provided by the guide and ended up sweating a lot during the tour. At Jiko-in, I enjoyed matcha and traditional sweets while listening to a talk from the head priest. During that time, there was a pretty intense thunderstorm! The rain didn’t stop for a while, but thanks to that, I was able to listen to the priest's talk for a bit longer. The borrowed parasol transformed into an umbrella! 😅 At Toshodai-ji, the rain finally lightened up, and the greenery of the trees was very vibrant and beautiful. The guide helped me find great angles for Instagram-worthy photos, and I couldn't help but smile when I looked at the pictures I took. 😊 The driver even got off the bus to check for safety at the crosswalk. The five-story pagoda is under renovation and won't be visible for a while (7 years?), but I still recommend it. I used this bus tour with my fifth-grade child on our first trip to Nara. The guide shared many interesting stories both on the bus and during the tour, allowing us to learn things we wouldn't have known if we had gone on our own. The tour efficiently covered the famous sites, and I highly recommend the bus tour. It was unfortunate that it rained, but since we were on a bus, it wasn't too inconvenient.

昼食の柿の葉寿司の定食は結構ボリュームがあり、お腹いっぱいで味も美味しかったです。
子供は鯖が苦手なこともあるので、チラシ寿司に変更できるそうです。うちの子はそのまま柿の葉寿司にしましたが、美味しいと気に入ってました。
