Meet at JR Fukui Station East Exit (Ichijodani Exit), Bus Stop No. 3
Fukui is a land where “Fuku” — meaning happiness — quietly resides.
The more you discover and connect with it, the richer your journey becomes.
Set off on a trip that fills both your heart and soul with happiness.
A local bus guide will accompany the tour, sharing detailed stories about the monk training at Eiheiji Temple and the rich history of the Asakura clan.
You might even hear unique local tales that can't be found on the internet!
Founded over 770 years ago in the Kamakura period by Zen Master Dogen, Eiheiji Temple is a historic monastery dedicated to zazen (seated meditation).
Even today, monks known as unsui continue their rigorous training here.
*Certified guides lead tours on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays.
This reconstructed castle town faithfully recreates the streetscape that once flourished under the Asakura clan, who ruled Echizen Province for 103 years over five generations during the Sengoku period.
The Fukui Prefectural Ichijodani Asakura Ruins Museum is a must-see for history lovers.
Explore life in the Sengoku era through large dioramas, full-scale reconstructions, and preserved stone ruins.
It’s like stepping back in time.
